I’m really passionate about mental health and I genuinely enjoy helping people work through their challenges and find ways to improve their lives. I work to make a real difference by being someone who listens and supports clients in a way that helps them feel understood and empowered. I want to help them build the tools and confidence they need to handle whatever comes their way. My goal is to create a space where they feel comfortable exploring their feelings and making positive changes in their lives. I often use CBT which is highly effective in helping clients identify and alter dysfunctional thought patterns and behaviors. This approach is beneficial for addressing anxiety, depression, and other psychological disorders. I also incorporate aspects of DBT, especially the mindfulness and emotion regulation parts. These techniques provides clients with practical skills to manage their emotions and relationships more effectively. PCT and ACT are also central to my practice. t’s important to me that clients feel heard and valued in our sessions and help clients stay present and committed to making positive changes, even when things get tough. I enjoy working with diverse communities such as minority and marginalized communities, refugees and immigrants, individuals experiencing homelessness, people with substance use disorders, caregivers, incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals, veterans, survivors of trauma and domestic violence, elderly populations, individuals with chronic illnesses, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. My aim is always to provide tailored, empathetic support that meets the specific needs of each client. Throughout my career, I’ve had the chance to work with all sorts of people, from children in kindergarten, teens, adults and trauma survivors. These experiences have really shown me how strong and resilient people can be. Personally, dealing with my own challenges has taught me the power of empathy and creating a safe space for clients. I always aim to stay updated with the latest therapy techniques to give my clients the best support possible on their healing journeys.

I especially love working with young adults, because it is such a rich time of growth, possibilty and change. I encourage you to take the brave and important step of seeking therapy. If you are feeling stuck, disconnected, or having trouble coping with anxiety or depression, you are not alone. You may be struggling to find balance in your life, or noticing that attachment and trauma from childhood is impacting you presently. Perhaps you recently lost a loved one, are navigating a new chapter of life that has you feeling anxious, or just feel like you are stuck in a rut and need someone to talk to. I work with adults and teens/adolescents on addressing anxiety and depression, unpacking past experiences, improving emotional regulation, building healthy boundaries with loved ones, healthy self-esteem, and more. As a therapist, I provide a challenge-support environment where I encourage you to reflect and explore your values while providing empathy, warmth, and humor. Therapy can be scary because we are asked to go outside our comfort zones, but growth stems from change. I utilize a myriad of theoretical approaches to find a style that works best for you. For LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals, I provide gender and sexuality affirming therapy and can work with you on identity exploration, navigating queer relationships, or coping with the impact of stigma, discrimination, and bias. My therapy office is an accepting and safe space for queer folk.
Hi, I’m Candice Beaton, LCSW — founder of Modern Therapy CB and your online therapist here for California folks who want therapy that actually feels human. I started this practice because I believe therapy should be relatable, approachable, and genuinely helpful — never cold, clinical, or overwhelming. With over 18 years in mental health (including deep work with veterans and PTSD), I specialize in helping high-functioning people who look like they’ve got it together… but inside feel fried, anxious, or one step away from burnout. Whether you’re navigating school stress, relationships, identity shifts, family dynamics, or just the constant “what if” loop in your head, I’m here to walk alongside you. We focus on your strengths (you already have more than you realize), practical tools that fit your real life, and building a calmer, clearer version of yourself — one honest conversation at a time. No masks, no pressure to be “fixed” overnight. Just a safe space to pause, breathe, and figure out what actually works for you. If you’re ready to feel more like yourself again — without having to hold it all together alone — I’d love to connect. Book a free 10-minute intro call through Thriving Campus and let’s talk. You’ve got this — and I’m right here with you.
I love supporting college students at every stage — first-year to returning adult learners — who are navigating a season full of change, uncertainty, and big questions. Maybe you're struggling to make friends or be yourself. Maybe friends aren't the issue, but your romantic life feels chaotic and it's something you'd like to develop. Perhaps relationships aren't it at all — school feels overwhelming and stressful, and you're not sure what you want to do. I work with students experiencing anxiety, depression, loneliness, relationship challenges, academic stress, and the emotional overwhelm that often comes with this stage of life. I want to help you understand yourself more clearly and experience yourself with confidence. Sometimes concrete skills can help with that, but mostly, I want to offer a space that feels safe to talk about whatever's showing up in your life right now. Together, we can figure out what you need.

I believe healing is not linear, but living a life with a better quality can be possible with the right support and direction. Creating a strong therapeutic alliance is of the upmost importance in therapy. Hi, please call me Simone. I'm glad you're here! Is your family or culture unsupportive of therapy? Do you expect yourself to handle everything on your own? Or do you fear what therapy can uncover? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions and are ready to do the work, then you are at the right place. I believe that seeking therapy is not a sign of weakness, but a courageous step toward growth. I combine person-centered therapy with cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients navigate issues of diversity, identity, intimate partner violence, and racial trauma. As a queer woman and BIPOC clinician, I recognize the profound impact that our identities have on our experiences and patterns in life. Thus, I approach therapy through an intersectional lens, paying close attention to the unique components of your identity—including ethnicity, age, gender, ability, sexual orientation, acculturation status, spiritual affiliation, and socioeconomic status. I was a client long before I became a therapist, so I understand how intimidating and vulnerable therapy can be. Know that if you feel overwhelmed, you don’t have to face life's obstacles alone. We will collaborate to find a path to wellness. I will be your biggest cheerleader and unconditionally supportive, but I will also gently challenge you, encouraging growth and healing. Change will not come overnight, nor is it linear. I'm here to provide a welcoming, safe, and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. Reach out, and together we can create a path toward healing, self-discovery, and an ultimately more fulfilling life!

I love working with college students navigating this important chapter in their lives. I understand a lot of the challenges many students encounter during this time in their lives and have a variety of ways to offer support. Some of the ways I can offer support are by helping students understand the underlying issues fueling the challenges they are facing as well as learning coping tools and finding access to resources or practices that can benefit them and help them move through the places they feel stuck to obtain their bigger goals. I offer a variety of techniques and ways of working with students, including but not limited to, tools based, interventions, dream work and hypnotherapy which can be especially helpful in resolving ineffective habits that get in the way day-to-day.
