Therapists for college students near University of Southern California
Unfortunately, life has many obstacles and challenges leading to feelings of sadness, pain, confusion, and anger. Often individuals and couples feel stuck and don't know how to move forward. This time can feel very lonely and scary. My role as a therapist is to provide you with a safe, nonjudgmental environment to process thoughts and feelings, as well as guide you in developing insight and identifying skills to help you live a happier and healthier life. I am committed in helping you heal and grow. I have experience working with individuals with a variety of conditions/issues including depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I assist couples in increasing communication skills, decreasing conflicts, and developing a healthy attachment to one another. I am trained in EMDR, Couples and Sex Therapy, as well as Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. I look forward to hearing from you to determine whether I would be a good fit in helping you through your growth and healing.
Hi! Glad you’re here. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I enjoy working with kids, adults, couples and families. I earned my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego in 2005, and completed a clinical internship in UCSD’s Department of Family Medicine. There I collaborated with physicians in the care of patients and their family members. To this day, I follow a “bio-psycho-social” systems approach- looking at a client’s physical health (bio), emotional health (psycho), and current relationships and support systems (social). Because relationships can be both a source of worry - and also our greatest asset- a genuine connection (with family, friends, coworkers, etc) truly fosters improved emotional health. Considering our current stressors from a “systems perspective” allows us to cultivate a deeper understanding of how our family interactions and social connections affect our daily lives. We can enrich those connections, develop healthier boundaries, and connect meaningfully with people in our lives in a way that does not leave us feeling as drained or anxious. While it is certainly essential to address current challenges or problems, it is just as important to simultaneously identify strengths and assets already residing within. Looking at how to utilize coping skills, or learning new ones, helps bolster resiliency and brings new change. We work toward responding to adversity by changing course, healing, using new coping skills and then continuing forward. The act of seeking help can often feel overwhelming for anyone; it helps to not do it alone. I do my best to offer guidance, support, and dedicated focus on developing an approach tailored to meet a client’s particular set of current needs.
I help young women facing difficult life situations find healing, peace, and contentment in their lives. I am a psychiatrist and psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience. During our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the issues at hand, and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back. Most of my patients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter. If you have been suffering on your own, I want you to know that there is hope for relief, and that you aren’t alone. I specialize in psychotherapy, with and without integrated use of medication treatment. In addition to a medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine and a residency in psychiatry, I pursued specialized psychotherapy training. I am trained in and use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, and mindfulness based therapy. It can be a daunting task to find a therapist and enter into the unknown. I'm glad you've taken the first steps towards meaningful change. My website can address any questions you might have, and I offer convenient secure video appointments, online scheduling, and a free screening consultation: www.peacetreementalhealth.com
I am a trauma-informed purpose-driven psychotherapist who loves to support students as they are going through their journey of learning, building their confidence as practitioners in their field, developing relationships with their peers and navigating the challenges that can come from being away from home. School can be hard: making deadlines, showing up to class even though you are tired, living in a culture that isn't your own, being away from your family, and having a taste of setting out on your own. I would like to support you with any anxiety and depression you might be experiencing and help you set a course of action that will help you make better decisions, prioritize self- care and discipline, and build the confidence needed to create a life of your dreams. I have lived overseas for much of my life, learned about other cultures, and employ a variety of techniques, including emdr and somatic experiencing into my work.

Therapy is truly an odd place. It is a social, emotional, and mental experience unlike any other. You are plucked from your life and placed in a room or screen where the process and conversations revolve around you and your life. This can be daunting and debilitating, but also transformative, fascinating, and full of wonder and opportunity. Sometimes our lives ask that we be machines like everyone else, regurgitating what everyone else is doing. We are conditioned to disconnect from ourselves in order to function in this society. We are told there’s only one version of ourselves that is acceptable. My attempt will be in accompanying on your journey of building your individual unique identity and vitality. I have had multiple years of experience working with students that are navigating feelings of inadequacy, shame, and loneliness. I also have worked extensively with supporting students in highly competitive environments with pressure to conform, while building their authenticity and their voice. My practice is catered towards building a space for the client and their individual needs.
Whether it is the first time reaching out or you have sought counseling services before, I can help! Through a genuine connection and mindfulness approach, I can help you work through your struggles. Hello, and welcome! I offer Telehealth video sessions for all CA clients, as well as in-person, or telehealth/in-person hybrid for San Francisco Bay Area clients. Much of our wounding is experienced in relationship, and so our healing needs that too. I offer a compassionate, collaborative home base that responds to what you bring. Face your challenges with skilled support. I move at a pace that's attuned to each client, balancing qualities of relief with growing edges. Together we can work to help you be in better relationship and balance with yourself and others, build resources, connect to your rich inner life and greater clarity, create an intentional path. Reach out! I offer a FREE 20-minute phone consultation. My office is in the Inner Richmond, SF. I'm a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). A trauma-informed modality that builds awareness around & resilience in the body & nervous system. We'll inquire into, respond to your thoughts, feelings, sensations. What your unique life or trauma have split off, disavowed in you, or disconnected you from, this work can help reintegrate, reconnect, heal. I offer primarily SE Sessions, if you are seeking that focus and modality only, as well as Psychotherapy Sessions. I’m also trained in SE Touch, which is an optional add-on. I came to this therapeutic work through my own mid-life awakening, discovered through uncovering my essential self in my own psychotherapy, so I bring a strong passion to this work, and a fearlessness to be with you in the hard stuff. I welcome diversity of all kinds, couples/triads, LGBTQQIA. It would be a privilege to walk this path with you.
I work with a diverse clientele and specialize in providing culturally responsive and identity-affirming psychotherapy. The clients I work with often identify as first-gen students, artists, performers, educators, and professionals, as well as those who have experienced trauma in relationships or who have a history of family cycles of addiction and drug use. I use a relational-psychodynamic and liberatory approach to therapy; incorporating mindfulness techniques that support you to build awareness of what is happening between your mind and body. A strong therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to explore thoughts and feelings is essential and building trust to do so takes time. I will support you in the therapy to navigate communicating what is happening for you in the therapy so that you can then apply a deepened awareness of yourself to interactions and events in everyday life. Feelings and thoughts can be hard to identify, and having time set aside to delve into this process can be transformative. Your participation in the therapy by bringing in your lived experiences will help you to deepen your insights and understanding, which will inform your decisions and choices in life moving forward.

I’m a clinical psychologist specializing in women’s health, trauma, and anxiety. I have several years experience working in university counseling and am passionate about college mental health. My approach is warm and collaborative with a focus on fostering confidence, balance, and self compassion.
I help teens and adults who struggle to connect or communicate with their parents, friends or partners. They might spend too much time on social media, struggle to feel good about themselves, have low self-esteem, have a hard time with setting boundaries, or struggle to put their needs before others. They might date people they wish they didn’t, but don’t know how to end things, or stop patterns of behavior. They may struggle with managing school life, work life, home life or social life. I enjoy working with these clients and helping them find ways to have a better and more balanced life. I can help you by making you feel comfortable and safe in my office to tell me anything that weighs on you, or keeps you up at night. I will provide you a judgement-free space where you can talk, yell, swear, laugh or cry through the many emotions, and ups and downs that get thrown at you in life. I can also hype you up and hold you accountable. Quit second guessing yourself that you "don't really need therapy", or that things really "aren't that bad." You don't need to justify needing additional support right now. Sometimes simply talking to someone once a week is all we need to feel better, and you deserve to feel better. You deserve to feel heard, understood and validated.
