While she is specially trained to treat youth, she welcomes clients of all ages who are suffering from depressive and anxiety disorders, trauma (remote/recent), life transitions, individual and families dealing with the disease of addiction, and those seeking personal growth. Dr. Miller has extensive experience working with military families, active duty and retired service members, and is trained to provide specialized treatment to veterans suffering from PTSD. Dr. Miller strives to provide trauma-sensitive and culturally sensitive treatment in an effort to hold a safe space for clients to trust and allow their stories to be heard and appreciated. Dr. Miller's mindfulness training began as a participant in an 8-week MBSR course at UC San Diego. Since that time she has followed this journey of mindfulness training and become a Certified MBSR Teacher at UCSD's Center for Mindfulness where she has facilitated over 30, 8-week mindfulness courses. She is currently in training to become a Certified Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher. On a personal note, Dr. Miller loves learning--reading, listening to books and podcasts, and browsing the internet in search of inspiration. She also finds immense value in slowing down, meditating daily, naps, and practicing gratitude for all the good. She especially likes spending time at home with her husband and children, her pets Barney, Goose, Bubbs & Luna, or with a good book. Have things started to feel harder than they used to? This is a good sign. It's time to take care of you in a more meaningful way than you've experienced before. I work with clients who report feeling dismayed by their reactions to work stress, school stress, and/or relationship stress. I'm a deeply empathetic, yet directive therapist. I draw from multiple research-backed approaches to address your needs and goals. I have extensive experience working with overwhelm, stress, and depression, as well as PTSD, with adults, children and families. I feel honored to work with clients in what I consider to be a sacred process. Most of my clients report that they feel relief and hope within the first session. Clients see continued improvement as we process challenging experiences together and honor the natural wisdom and sense of personal power that arises from the work. Over time, experiences of reactivity, as well feelings such as anxiety, anger, sadness, and joy all become meaningful and helpful when we hold them with curiosity and compassion. And despite my education and training, I want you to know that I won't ever be 'done' finding parts of myself that need more love, or areas of my life that stretch me when I least expect it. It's because I lead a truly human life, combined with experience and support, that I know the courage and hard choices it takes to make this step toward healing.
I am a licensed psychologist with strong specialties in treating folks with eating disorders and anxiety. I also have extensive experience working with people with depression and relationship concerns. I am a compassionate, direct therapist. I work collaboratively with my patients to set and achieve their goals. These goals often include increased self-acceptance, as well as changes in mood, thought patterns, and behaviors. My therapy is rooted in empirically based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic theory, and neuroscience research. I develop customized strategies to help my patients manage painful thoughts and emotions, change unhelpful behaviors, and increase motivation. I also help cultivate self-compassion and self-understanding. Self-understanding promotes self-acceptance. When you allow yourself to be who you are, your inner critic has no leverage, and you move more easily toward a meaningful and fulfilling life. For most of my patients, this is the ultimate goal. Please go to my website for more information. My blog describes many of the concepts and strategies I use.

Are you someone whose checked many of the boxes in life but have found yourself in a less than ideal relationship? One day it’s all good, and the next day it’s all bad. You feel alone, isolated…like you can’t talk to anyone about what’s going on. You might feel embarrassed or what’s happening might just feel indescribable? You wish you could talk to your partner about it, but his mood is so unpredictable, you’re not sure if that’s even safe. Not to mention, sharing your experience with family or friends could mean having to face their judgment and receive unhelpful advice to "just leave." I specialize in supporting Black women who are struggling with communication and self-doubt in their intimate relationship. You’ll learn to be more assertive, set boundaries and increase confidence. My style is anti-therapist-y. Like talking to one of the girls but with a certain set of skills. Progressive and safe with a sprinkle of woo. You deserve to be supported by someone who’s “been there, done that” and can create a safe space for you to speak freely, learn to show up as your full self and have the peaceful relationship you want and deserve! Visit my website to schedule a free 15-minute call and let's find out if we're a good fit to get started.

Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here. For many of us, our early adulthood is filled with self-doubt and questions of where do we belong. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or challenges in relationships, I am here to support you. I specialize in identity development and have firsthand experience at how much a difference a solid sense of self can make in a person's life. Regardless of what you're bringing to therapy, I see you as the expert in your own life; if we're walking into the depths of your mind, you're leading and I'm merely holding the lantern. I believe in a holistic, trauma-informed, and systems-based approach, understanding that the struggles we encounter are often connected to the larger picture of our lives. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel empowered to explore the challenges that are holding you back, and together, we can work toward meaningful growth and healing.
I believe that the most important thing in therapy is finding a safe space to process the good and the bad of life. My goal is to guide you through your life experience and collaborate to create a plan that would help you achieve your goals, whether they are about work, health, relationships, family or personal growth. As a Marriage and Family Therapist I am trained to help children, teenagers and adults in individual, couples and family therapy. I have specially worked with Depression and Anxiety, Parenting and Behavioral Problems, Acculturation Problems and Domestic Violence. I work with CBT, Client Centered Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy based on your needs. Feel free to ask what is therapy about if this is your first time. If you are considering returning to therapy, congratulations in being the best advocate for your health. Our minds need care just like any other organ of our bodies and therapy is one of the best ways to protect our amazing minds.

I have personal, lived experience with all of my primary areas of focus. I have a wide array of specialties because life presented many unexpected changes that resulted in a fulfilling career. I remember feeling out of place throughout my childhood, but I didn't know how to convey my feelings. My childhood was always unpredictable and chaotic so I was able to recognize those things in others. I didn't understand what I was feeling at the time, but I remember thinking, "how is no one seeing this or saying anything?". From a young age I had a deep sense of connection to the unmet needs of others. I was always told that I was "resilient" but I didn't want to have to be that, it didn't feel fair. Through my own personal growth I learned how to transform my emotional wounds into a way to serve others. We can't undo what was done to us, but we can take charge of how our needs are met from this point forward. I am a Depth psychotherapist and strongly rely upon experiential therapy. This means that you can expect to address the underlying deeper issues. One of the strongest components of the therapeutic process is receiving validation and genuine understanding. This results in a vulnerable and open relationship between the client and the clinician. I have a diverse background and support issues in my practice, that I have personally experienced. I have worked in a variety of mental health, rehabilitation, and addiction settings, including both: in-patient psychiatric hospitals, treatment facilities, residential, and outpatient programs, as well as caregiving facilities for persons experiencing disabilities. I spent the first part of my career as a clinical case manager working with the homeless, veterans, and persons experiencing addiction and acute mental illness. My practice focuses on assisting individuals in establishing a centered approach to their lives by digging up the past and connecting to their core values. Some of the most important aspects in my life include: advocacy, rehabilitation, fostered autonomy, and being in-tune with the needs of a wide variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. I rely on your intuition and guide you to reaching your empowered self. Together we will connect to your mind, body, and unmet emotional needs. I will help you recognize and understand how your emotions impact your thoughts and decisions. I will help you develop awareness of your internal thoughts, foster insight into your body’s responses, and teach you to listen through somatic awareness.
