I see myself as a fellow traveler with my clients. The anti-oppressive and feminist framework I utilize in therapy is also deeply personal. My lived experience as a neurospicy woman, questioning hetero/mononormativity in relationships, embracing my queerness, tending to my grief and trauma, and in recovery from substance use is also present as part of my professional self. I cherish the privilege to be here with you! I dedicate my work to helping clients discover new strategies to more gently carry their lived experiences. Most especially: managing life transitions and existential crises; exploring neurodivergence; navigating chronic illness; relational ruptures; seeking answers about identity and belonging in queer spaces; grief; self-image challenges; exiting high-control relationships; transitioning out of endurance athletics; sensory sensitivities; climate grief/anxiety. Many clients receive me as a consistent, supportive presence who allows for space for what is, and offers mindful posing of questions that generate reflections and expand your perspective. My therapy "room" is also an open lab for exploring what comes up in the here-and-now, which opens you up for experiencing relational repair and growth. I hope our therapeutic relationship helps you to feel more authentic, empowered, and connected to your own essence.
Stephanie (she/her) believes that healing results from expanding our capacity for meaningful connections and relationships. She has a background working with a diversity of people in outdoor settings and draws from attachment theory, body-based and experiential therapies, as well as ecological and feminist approaches. Stephanie aims to incorporate how familial, social, economic and cultural forces interact in our society to impact individual well-being. Stephanie welcomes all people and has a special interest in working with young adults, LGBTQIA+ individuals, international students and people struggling with body acceptance and identity.
We specialize in providing trauma, sex, body and LGBTQIA+ affirmative psychotherapy to those who feel lost and unsatisfied, and want a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. We're here to help you slow down, sort through the pressure, and figure out how the hell to take care of yourself and go after the life you want while remaining true to who you are. It doesn’t have to be so hard. We are not distant, blank faced analysts, but instead are responsive and collaborative in our approach. Together, we will untangle the knots created by anxiety, depression, trauma, family, eating, and relationship problems that leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, your body, and your emotions.
I strongly value creating a compassionate and non-judgmental setting where we can work together to address your challenges and build a more enjoyable and meaningful life. I use evidence-based treatments to address a wide range of problems including anxiety disorders and stress management, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (ex: OCD, skin picking, hair pulling), PTSD, mood disorders (ex: depression, bipolar disorder), and insomnia. My treatment approach explores the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and incorporates mindfulness and acceptance techniques to help make lasting changes in your everyday life. I find that this approach adds to my clients’ understanding of themselves and helps them develop greater self-compassion and empowerment in the face of their difficulties. Give me a call so we can discuss what you're looking for and whether we might be a good fit!
Fundamentally, my aim is to support my clients in contacting their inner self-knowing, and "make friends" with all of the various parts of themselves in the warmth and security of this inner space. To achieve this, I practice person-centered therapy, with a strong emphasis on somatic awareness. When working with clients, I am listening for "what wants to be heard" that day. In my view, I am a supportive and curious observer, and my job is to reflect back to my client what I am seeing. My style tends to be more direct, and I regularly encourage my clients to take ownership over their treatment and to trust themselves. In a first session with me, we explore where you've been, where you are, and where you would like to go. Often, I invite people to tell me their story and then describe their current situation. We will work together to assess what feels like the most supportive areas of focus, and will create some goals which guide our future sessions. During this process, however, you can still expect curiousity, empowerment, and validation. What's most important in any session is establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.
My work centers on helping adults through life transitions, anxiety, grief, and the complex emotions that arise during identity exploration. In Bloom Therapy provides a calm, collaborative environment where clients can slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves.
The Journey to Your Internal Compass Starts with One Step. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond. It takes courage to seek help for personal struggles. Therapy is like having a compass. The compass provides a sense of safety for travelers as they know they can rely on it to always point them in the right direction. With a compass—any compass—we can always pause for a moment in time and take stock of where we are so that we can continue to grow and change. All of us must change course from time to time because what we are doing isn’t working. If you are struggling with addiction, alcoholism, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or trauma, allow me the honor to walk alongside you as you take the steps to the authentic you and discover your internal compass. I use evidence-based treatments tailored to individual needs to help clients attain and maintain long-term sobriety, improve relationships and well-being. I offer a safe and confidential environment on telehealth software. Healing happens within relationships and it's crucial you find a therapist you connect with. Call or email me today. Let’s walk this journey together.
