Nicole Thoms Fuentes
“Baby steps” + “you gotta feel it to heal it” are two truths that guide my work as a therapist. I believe healing unfolds when we move at a pace that honors your body, your story, and your inner knowing. I show up with care, curiosity, and a liberatory-focused, neurodivergent-affirming lens to support your growth, self-trust, and embodied healing. As a 1.5-generation, neuroqueer, Afro-Latina AuDHDer, I understand the complexities of moving through a world not designed to hold all of who you are. I offer space for PoGM, QT2BIPOC, 2SLGBTGEQIAP+, immigrant, and neurodivergent (Autistic, ADHD, OCD, CPTSD, etc.) adults to explore, reclaim, and come home to themselves.

Acceptance and change are hard. I help people face and make space for their life histories and experiences and support them in identifying and making the changes that lead to meaning and satisfaction in their lives and relationships. I believe that you are the expert on your life, and my role is to provide encouragement, support and guidance on your journey of healing and growth. My practice is focused on the needs of men, and I enjoy helping men that are struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic illness or disability, relationship issues, complex trauma/childhood wounds, racial stress and trauma, and navigating adulthood/"failure to launch" and masculinity. As a Black man, I am committed to addressing the unique experiences of and challenges that face BIPOC men. I believe that humans are wired for connection and that profound and lasting healing comes from satisfying this essential need. My work is based on AEDP Psychotherapy (formally known as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and Emotionally Focused Therapy. The AEDP Institute (aedpinstitute.org) describes AEDP Psychotherapy as “an experiential model that seeks to alleviate patients’ psychological suffering by helping them process the overwhelming emotions associated with trauma in a way that facilitates corrective emotional and relational experiences that mobilize positive changes in our neuroplastic brains.” The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (iceeft.com/) describes Emotionally Focused Therapy as a “form of therapy that helps people understand and improve their emotional connection with themselves and others.” Both therapies emphasize the importance of our relationships with ourselves and others and use the power of corrective experiences with our emotions within the safe haven and secure base of the therapist-client relationship to fuel growth and healing. I also use skills and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other approaches that emphasize mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion when needed to facilitate healing. I come from a family of helpers and healers, and I have been privileged to help people in a variety of roles and settings. I have worked as a state social welfare caseworker, an assistant in a state library for the blind and disabled, a respiratory therapist and a medical social worker. I grew up in a military family and was fortunate to be exposed to and learn from a variety of cultures. I am a member of the "sandwich generation” and know what it means to care for and support older and younger family members with chronic illness and disability simultaneously. As a person living with chronic illness, I also have lived experience with the challenges and limitations that come along with living with a disability. My experiences have fostered in me a deep appreciation of and respect for the diversity of the human experience. When I am not working, I enjoy all things that involve good food, friends, and family. I look forward to learning more about you, who and what matters to you, and traveling with you on your journey of hope and healing!

I work with people who think A LOT, like, all the time. You're overwhelmed with...it all. You're the one others come to, but you don't always get the same in return. You're questioning your choices, abilities, relationships. You want to feel more peace, appreciation, connection, and fulfillment. You want to find ways to stop overthinking while continuing to be successful. Balancing relationships, work, family, and fun is complicated. Maybe you need help better understanding yourself or the dynamics in the important relationships in your life. Perhaps you spend too much time and energy worrying. It could be that you feel like things in your life are just out of alignment. If any of this sounds familiar, let's chat to see how we can help you gain the tools you need to restore balance to your life.

You’re trying to figure out who you are while navigating school, relationships, family expectations, and the pressure to have your life figured out. Maybe everyone sees you as capable and independent, but underneath it all, you feel overwhelmed, anxious, lonely, or unsure of yourself. Maybe you’re learning how to make decisions for yourself without feeling guilty or worrying about disappointing everyone else. Therapy can be a soft, safe place to slow down, understand yourself, and create a life that feels like your own. My style is warm, collaborative, practical, and relational. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that keep you feeling overwhelmed, help you set boundaries without guilt, and quiet the pressure to have life all figured out. This isn’t about becoming a better version of who everyone expects you to be; it’s about feeling more like yourself. Life doesn't have to be falling apart for you to deserve support. Therapy can be a space to feel seen, slow down, and care for yourself without guilt. Taking care of yourself is productive too. When you're ready to take that step, I'd be honored to help you get started.
City View Counseling and Consulting
Being stuck is horrible. Whether we are experiencing anxiety, depression, or strain in our relationships, the patterns keeping us trapped are often difficult to find our way out of. Our fears of facing change and what life will look like without change can feel overwhelming. Sometimes we believe the lies fear has told us about who we are. Not knowing where to start or questioning if we have what it takes, keeps us stuck where we don’t want to be; it feels hopeless. At City View Counseling and Consulting, we believe there is hope. Taking the brave steps towards a clearer path and the truest version of yourself is not something you have to do alone. We understand finding the right therapist can be hard. We make sure you are paired with the therapist who is the best fit for you and where you are on your journey. We collaborate with you to provide a path and plan, tailored to your specific needs. With the right tools and a safe place to process difficult things, our clients are able to break free from destructive patterns, move through transformation and continue their journey towards wholeness and freedom.

Hello and welcome! My name is Nicole, and I would love to talk about what has led to you seek out support through therapy. If you ever have these types of thoughts, then this might be a good space to talk about and work through those thoughts and feelings. When you enter into my therapy space, it is a safe space that is private, confidential, and free of judgement. I use a strengths based approach to work with individuals who need support with exploring and managing their mental health, including depression, anxiety, life transitions, and even past trauma. Life can often be difficult and emotions can feel overwhelming. Sometimes it feels as though the rug has been pulled out from underneath us. Maybe you're dealing with your own mental health, you have a loved one struggling with substance use, you're navigating infertility, or you're having a hard time setting boundaries. Whatever it is that has lead you here, I'm glad you are reaching out. I hope to provide a space to you that honors your story, facilitates personal growth and allows you to be authentic. I believe that each of us deserve to find healing and that includes you. Asking for help is one of the bravest things we can do. Life can often be difficult and emotions can feel overwhelming. Thank you for considering me to be part of your journey. My name is Allia (she/her), and for my clients, I provide a safe and healing place to grow. For the past four years, I’ve worked as a therapist and advocate for child and adult survivors of abuse and sexual assault. And through this work, I have honed my skills in helping people through trauma, transitions, self-worth issues, and identity. I work with a wide range of clients and survivors and particularly gravitate towards individuals within the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities and young adults. Each person is different and thus, each treatment plan is individualized to meet that person’s needs. And in working together, I will follow your lead and meet you where you are. I look forward to working together!
