I provide inclusive, affirming therapy for individuals navigating identity, trauma, relationships, and life transitions. My practice centers neurodivergent, grievers, LGBTQ+ folks, people of color, and anyone who’s ever felt like the “only” in the room. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up fully as yourself - messy, brilliant, questioning, and human. Using a relational, trauma-informed approach, I work collaboratively to help you explore your experiences, reconnect with your values, and build a life that feels meaningful and grounded. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, or just trying to figure out who you are, you're not alone - and you don't have to do it alone.

I tend to work best with students who feel a lot on the inside, even if they don’t always show it on the outside. Many of the students I support describe themselves as deep feelers, caregivers, or high-achievers. They might look like they “have it together” but often carry stress, worry, or self-doubt that no one else sees. Some of my clients are navigating big life transitions such as, living away from home for the first time, managing demanding academic expectations, or figuring out who they are and what they want in relationships, career, or spirituality. Others come in because they feel weighed down by past experiences of trauma, anxiety, or addiction and want a safe space to work through it. What my clients share is a desire for relief, clarity, and a more grounded sense of self. They want a space where they don’t have to perform, fix, or achieve—just a place to be real and supported. In sessions with me, you’ll find a calm, supportive space to slow down and be yourself, no pressure to have it all figured out. We’ll explore what’s weighing on you, whether it’s stress, anxiety, past experiences, or big life transitions. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, hopeful, and connected to yourself so you can move through school and life with more ease.

College can be difficult and lonely. My goal as your therapist would be to help you explore yourself, your hurts, and your relationships to bring about healthier functioning in your life. I strive to create an environment where you feel supported and heard so that you can experience healing and growth. I want to be a person in your life that you feel safe with and cared for by. I use Emotionally-Focused therapy to aid you in processing through what you are struggling with so that you can achieve your goals and thrive while you are in college and beyond. I have been influenced by many counseling theories but gravitate most strongly to those emphasizing a collaborative relationship where the client is viewed as the expert on their own life. I believe that human beings are always doing their best given the tools that they possess. I also believe that our society differentially imparts barriers to certain groups and that often these obstacles, rather than personal failure, stand in the way of our goals. Most importantly, I believe that the therapy relationship is a potential vehicle for growth and my most fundamental goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment. I am trained as a generalist and most often work with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, family issues, grief, and trauma. I am particularly interested in working with oppressed groups, including women, ethnic minorities, and gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals. I use a variety of approaches in therapy. Compassionate listening with a holistic focus is always the foundation. At times I also draw from neuroscience, mind body techniques, hypnotherapy, Rapid Resolution Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, and Internal Family Systems among others.

It takes great strength and courage to reach out in our times of need. I consider it a privilege to join you on your journey and believe deeply in the healing that is possible within the therapeutic process. Our desire for relationships is beautiful. Within relationship we can experience the fullness of this beauty, but often they are what leave us fractured and fragmented. In counseling, I believe, we can put the pieces of us back together to experience personal wholeness once again. When we begin to experience the fullness within ourselves, we then can encounter the beauty of connection and relationship with others. Deeply valuing the uniqueness of each person, I aim to create a safe, compassionate, and authentic space by integrating the whole person into our work. Primarily working from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) model, we will seek to reintegrate each disjointed part of us back into the whole, utilizing our mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational parts. My faith is meaningful to me, and I welcome working with people of diverse faith backgrounds and beliefs. Throughout my own journey I have found that sorrow and joy often walk together. In our work together, I desire to hold space for the pain and hurt you have experienced, while also making space for moments of laughter and joy along the way. Within my therapeutic space I seek to create room for the dark and the difficult, as well as recognize the moments we need to take a breath from the heavy, and laugh. I want to follow where you lead. In my free time I love cooking, enjoying the outdoors with my husband, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing soccer, coaching athletes of all ages and stages, and laughing with my friends and family!

Do you often feel anxious or overwhelmed, more than you'd like? Is it impacting your relationships or your ability to function? Maybe you feel frazzled or out of control, or you're navigating a significant loss or life transition that feels especially challenging. Therapy can bring clarity and support meaningful change. I support clients experiencing overwhelm & anxiety, difficult life transitions and grief by customizing care and equipping each client with easily accessible tools. I take an integrative approach by utilizing acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychoeducation, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and also drawing from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). My services are specialized to meet the unique needs of women because women’s physical & mental wellness is unique! Creating a safe, inclusive environment, cultivating a genuine relationship and laughter are all important to me. I deeply appreciate being able to learn as much or more from my clients as I have from my training and experience.

I believe therapy can be a transformative experience, and it requires a lot of courage to take that first step toward healing. As a therapist, I use a warm, interpersonal approach, drawing from attachment theory, internal family systems (IFS), somatics, and DBT. I help clients find purpose and meaning in life, feel a sense of safety in their bodies, and understand their own behavioral and attachment patterns. I enjoy working with young adults struggling with a sense of self and identity, those with personality and mood disorders, the LGBTQIA+ community, and individuals questioning their sexuality and/or gender presentation. I can’t wait to accompany you on this journey.

People who never felt "just like everyone else" or dealt with a lot of negative self talk are those who I love supporting most. I am an art therapist, as well as a licensed professional counselor, and that means we have a lot of options in our tool box to find what works best for you. What is most important to me is making sure you feel heard, comfortable, and safe (and maybe even laugh once or twice)! I specialize in adolescents as well as young adults/college age clients as they continue to navigate "growing up". Sometimes sessions may be 100% talk therapy, sometimes 100% art/music interventions, and often some mix of both- it is totally up to what you are most comfortable with.

Unlike other therapists who believe that the mind is the key to unlocking everything, I believe in the holistic perspective of working with mind, emotions, and body. I have over 400-hours of certifications on the most scientifically backed approaches towards holistic healing which combines physiology, psychology, biology, neuroscience, and ancient Chinese healing practices. Through my sessions you will learn how the mind-body connection helps open neuropathways to healing. The skillset you learn in session will become a part of your "toolset" on your life- long journey towards happiness and wellbeing. I will not wholly agree with you, or "uh huh" you too much. I will push you, heal you, and help you in your apprenticeship to the truth.

Flowing With Growth Psychotherapy is a safe space that welcomes BIPOC clients of all sexual, gender, and intersecting identities. Hi, I'm Sara! College can be some of the most exciting and also challenging times of our lives. I love working with young adults who need a space to land when things get tough, or who need support in navigating living on their own, stressful school schedules, or challenging relationships. I provide a safe space to support your journey -- whatever it may be -- and enjoy working collaboratively to support your growth.

Starting therapy can be super difficult. On top of that, navigating college life can be lonely, overwhelming, and sometimes scary. My goal is to create a warm and comfortable environment for you to begin your counseling journey and for you to start working towards change, however you define that in your life.

Everyone has a story to tell. The way I see it, life is made of the stories we tell ourselves and the stories we tell others. Trauma, depression, anxiety, and substances can influence and interrupt our story, but if we are mindful about who we are and who we want to be, we can put those occurrences in their proper place. They can exist as something that we went through rather than something that defines us. Everyone holds the power to be the person they want to be, no matter what their past, no matter their present. My job is to assist you in creating the present you want for yourself, so you can build the future you deserve. I work with people of all genders, and sexualities. I aim to help people who’ve been traumatized by events and experiences, as well as those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or recovering from abuse, whether it be from another person, substances, or alcohol. I’d be honored to work with you as you examine and explore yourself and your surroundings in order to write your own story the way you want it to be.
