Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
Welcome! I am so glad you are taking the time to look over my profile and get to know me better. It takes a lot of courage and vulnerability to seek out counseling. I believe in the power of therapy and the healing it can bring in one's life. My therapeutic approach is a collaborative approach, meaning as your therapist, I will work with you to help you gain insight and develop coping skills that will make an impactful difference in your life. I always prioritize our relationship and want you to feel safe and accepted for who you are. My clients appreciate my authentic personality, my humor, and my ability to empathize with them. Many of my clients come to therapy to gain a better understanding who they are, where they come from, and where they want to go. Sometimes clients come to therapy for just a handful of sessions and find that they got what they needed in that time. Others may find that they benefit from going to therapy for months or even years. There is no right or wrong way. However, you get as much out of therapy as you put in, so it's important to be an active participant in and out of the session. If I feel that I am not equipped or trained in what you are needing from therapy, I am happy to refer you to another professional who may be a better fit. Finding the right therapist is key in experiencing the full benefits therapy can bring! I encourage you to check out my practice's website and contact me via email or phone to get started! I am happy to provide a free 15 minute phone consultation to learn more about what you are needing in therapy and if I will be a good fit for you!

Let’s be real — asking for help feels hard. We’ve been taught that being the “strong one” means doing it all alone. That needing support somehow makes us weak, messy, or not put-together enough. Whether it’s from family, culture, or social media… the pressure to look like you’ve got it all figured out is exhausting. But here’s the truth: asking for help is a power move. It means you’re self-aware enough to know when something's off — and brave enough to do something about it. Healing doesn’t make you broken. It makes you real. It makes you whole. As your therapist, I’m not here to “fix” you — I’m here to help you find yourself again. Together, we’ll unpack what’s been heavy, rewire some patterns, and create space for you to breathe, grow, and show up as her — the version of you that’s confident, grounded, emotionally free, and fully in her power. Struggling with anxiety or overthinking? Tired of toxic relationships or feeling like you’re never enough? Burning out trying to keep it all together? It’s time to choose you. Not the perfect version. Not the polished mask. The real you — in progress, healing, and glowing. Let’s do the inner work, set the boundaries, and walk in purpose. Because the goal isn’t perfection. It’s progress.

In my clinical work, I thoroughly enjoy getting to know clients and their families. The most important aspect is to provide a safe and comfortable environment so clients can form a trusting, open, honest relationship in order to facilitate change. On my end, that requires relatability as well as sincerity to meet the client where they are as well as embracing their individualized experiences. The overarching goal is to get each client to overcome personal obstacles, reach their full potential, strengthen or improve their relationship with family members, and learn appropriate skills to help them succeed in the everyday world. As all people have unique strengths and interests, treatment plans are individualized to ensure that they match the person's needs. Whether that is lessening the burden of anxious thoughts, learning how to get oneself out of a depressed mood state, teaching skills to help calm down when agitated, or discussing social interactions to feel more comfortable, each individual requires their own road map. I enjoy applying a person-centered, strength-based approach as well as weaving in cognitive-behavioral techniques. Counselling sessions are goal-driven; however, goals are developed in a cooperative manner, including the client, myself, and (when appropriate), other family members
At Modern Path, we utilize evidence and strength approaches with a focus on individualized care. Each of us has specialties that reflect the unique needs of gender, sexuality, and relationship structure minorities.
During our sessions together, I will support you in exploring the many parts of you and how they came to be. I will work with you to identify the negative messages connected to these parts of you. We will form a relationship with these parts and create a safe place for all of you to be seen, heard, and understood. In this safe place, you will heal yourself. Developing my own internal resources has helped me to move through some very difficult times as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Using evidence based research, I provide care that values every part of you and respects where you came from. In those moments of pain and struggle and self-discovery, I will help you to choose yourself. I seek to create a safe and inclusive space for black-bodied individuals, first generation immigrants, LGBTQ+ folks, survivors of trauma, sex workers, and clients who are struggling with relationship and intimacy issues. My approach to mental health care is rooted in anti-oppressive and decolonizing frameworks. The treatment modalities that I use have been found to be effective across many cultures, ages, genders, and experiences. I am here to support my clients in rediscovering themselves, strengthening their mind-body connection, and living the life they have always wanted.

Jennifer Chase Finch is dedicated to resolving trauma through somatic treatment modalities, meditation, contemplative and integrative sciences. She was a practicing licensed professional therapist for almost two decades prior to founding Be Here Now Mindfulness, LLC. In addition to her private practice, she offers online and in-person mindfulness trainings to individuals, health care practitioners and corporate settings. Her great passion is bringing healing to people who have been through trauma with a Capital “T” or a lower case “t,” so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole and safe individuals and they can thrive and flourish in the world in the way they were intended. She earned her master's degree in Counseling Psychology and Addictionology from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She has extensive training in crisis counseling, addictions, attachment disorders, meditation and trauma-based therapy. In 2013, she began incorporating meditation, mindfulness, somatic meditation and compassion treatment modalities as her therapy of choice. She is a graduate of the CBCT (Cognitively-Based Compassion Training®) and is now a Certified CBCT instructor through Emory University's Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion Based Ethics. She is currently enrolled in a 3-year intensive Somatic Experiencing® (SE) certification program, and is a Level I SE Practitioner. Welcome! I am a trauma-informed, liberation-oriented art therapist offering virtual therapy for young adults in Georgia. I take a systems-based approach to mental health, considering the mind-body connection, the health of relationships, and the impacts of systemic oppression. I advocate for collective liberation as a key aspect of trauma healing and prioritize creating an affirming and accessible space for 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, and disabled or chronically ill folks. As an art therapist, I believe that creating art can help to express emotions, regulate the nervous system, and communicate with the self and others. Options for incorporating art therapy include visual journaling, creating eco-art with natural materials, integrating digital art, making zines, and more. Anyone can benefit from art therapy, regardless of their artistic background, as the focus is on the process and personal reflection, without judgment or pressure to perform! My approach to therapy is holistic and non-pathologizing, incorporating strength-based and person-centered approaches to honor your inner wisdom and celebrate your resilience and growth. I also integrate mindfulness, attachment theory, and somatic practices to support you with finding balance and feeling grounded.

I firmly believe that the mind is the most important part of ourselves. It influences how we experience the world and how others experience and see us in our day to day lives. Just as is the case with any part of the body, there are times when this crucial part of who we are may “not work as well as it should” or be subject to illness due to circumstances that are often beyond our control. We face unprecedented challenges in the world today we owe it to ourselves to prioritize mental health. I work daily with my patients (both adults and children) on improving their mental health and well-being and building resilience to not only meet these challenges head on, but to thrive.
I specialize in seeing young people: adolescents, college students/young adults. My work generally addresses mood, identity, social-emotional, behavioral, and organizational concerns. Developing a trusting therapeutic relationship is essential to therapy and I will work with you to identify your concerns. I incorporate a problem-solving, supportive approach to help clients process, while utilizing evidence-based therapy interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques.
Not unlike many within this field, my own experiences with mental health influenced my decision to become a therapist. Through my own struggles in my young life, I found a passion for hearing other people’s experiences and empowering others to identify and utilize their strengths in moments of hardship. A couple of areas I specialize in navigating are: Ideas of perfectionism Developing self-compassion Exploring one’s cultural identity Coping with and understanding feeling “not good enough" Overcoming the stress of living up to expectations (cultural, intrapersonal, societal, parental) Setting boundaries Feeling torn between two or more cultures Feelings of shame, worry, or guilt I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist and I have a particular skill in working with people of color, first and second-generation immigrants, and folks new to therapy. Additionally, I deeply understand, honor, and respect the South Asian and Middle Eastern religions and cultures.
