Hi, I'm Tyler Biggs (MA TIU '26) (he/him), an MA on staff with Spring Tree Counseling and I'm well aware of the pressure to over-perform and under-recover. For men in particular, the expectation to provide some tangible service to the world and "prove" one's worth is a constant theme in my counseling. This can make us excel beyond our dreams, or find ourselves in a nightmare. I've worked in a range of fields from non-profit leadership development to college student mentoring to project management. And over the years, I journeyed alongside many high capacity people—and felt the difficulty of that title myself. For many, all of this is just a burden, manifesting as anxiety, panic, or obsessive-compulsive cycles. My goal is to help men who are straining under the immense pressures of life. For adults navigating transitions—new careers, relationships, responsibilities—these can feel like crises. I walk alongside clients through the beautiful, sometimes brutal, times Most heroes from our favorite stories have an ally guiding them toward healing, both in the world and inside themselves. I'm a co-adventurer, working collaboratively with clients to bind up wounds, manage anxiety, and grow resilience on this journey. Life is hard, and finding healing alone is nearly impossible. But through help, it is possible to thrive.

Challenging life transitions such as a new school, being away from home for the first time, the loss of a loved one, or relationship changes can leave us feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and disconnected from our true selves. It may feel like no one understands what you’re going through or like you don’t have the energy for things that used to really matter to you. Perhaps it feels like you lost your identity. You need some relief. You’re ready to feel calmer and more hopeful. You’re ready to feel like you have the tools to handle difficult days. Most of all, you’re ready to feel like yourself again. Sessions with me incorporate talk therapy, mindfulness, and movement to best suit your unique needs and goals. Together we’ll find a new way forward, at your pace. As a therapist with both clinical and life experience, I am prepared to support you through this difficult transition. I help clients like you find meaning, joy and connection again by equipping them with tools they need to navigate life’s challenges and uncertainties. You don’t have to go through this alone. Ombu Counseling specializes in helping those facing new challenges in life, those in the process of negotiating their place in an adoptive environment, and those seeking to assert themselves in relationships, groups and/or families in which conflicting values, beliefs and expectations prevail. Major life transitions are challenging, especially when they provoke questions about one’s identity, culture, core-values and sense of belonging. Trying to figure this out can result in feelings of confusion and emotional exhaustion. Counseling offers a process for reflecting on such questions and space for containing the emotions they produce.

In my practice, I am particularly passionate about working with young adults as they navigate the unique pressures and transitions that are present during this stage of life. Whether you are adjusting to a new phase, questioning purpose or direction, experiencing self-doubt, or feeling overwhelmed, you do not need to figure it out alone. My approach is grounded in building a collaborative relationship that focuses on understanding your unique goals. I aim to build a partnership that feels safe and allows you to openly explore what you are experiencing and feeling with curiosity and honesty. Together, we can determine what is working for you and where you might feel stuck. Many clients work with me in order to shift something about their relationship with themselves or with others. This may mean building self-confidence; clarifying values; or quieting self-criticism. We may also work through navigating conflict; setting boundaries; or healing from past trauma. Please visit my profile on psychologytoday.com or my website to learn more about me and my practice, and feel free to reach out to see if we might be a good fit!

My clinical work is grounded in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I provide ongoing individual psychotherapy for adults, with a particular interest in working with college, graduate, and professional students who are interested in understanding themselves more deeply and exploring the ways that relationships, identity, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and academic or professional pressures affect their psychological functioning. I believe longer-term psychotherapy can be particularly valuable for students whose concerns may not be adequately addressed through brief or symptom-focused treatment alone. My aim is to provide a space where students can address immediate difficulties while also developing a greater understanding of the patterns, conflicts, and relationships that contribute to those difficulties.

Hello and welcome! If you are looking for a psychiatrist-- or, perhaps, looking to switch from the psychiatrist you are currently seeing-- the chances are good that you have been asking yourself some difficult questions. For example, you may be asking yourself: * Do I really "need" to take psychiatric medications? Are there any other strategies available for managing my symptoms and reaching my goals? * If I decide to take psychiatric medications, which ones should I take (and what should the dosage be)? How risky are these medications? For how long will I need to take them? * Am I on too many medications? How many medications are "too many"? * Should I be seeing a talk therapist? If so, what kind? * Are there any lifestyle changes that might help me to feel better? * What about all of these "alternative medicine" treatments that I've read about? Do they work? Are they safe? * What should I know about newer FDA-approved treatments such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and ketamine (Spravato)? My goal as a psychiatrist is to help you find answers to these questions. I am not here to "dictate" a course of treatment, but instead to advise you of a range of possible treatment approaches, describing the benefits and risks of each one.

I strive to do this in manner that is clear, detailed, easily understood, and-- most important of all-- unbiased. I do not accept "speaking fees", free steak dinners, or other forms of payment from drug companies.
