Therapists for college students near Chicago, IL
Hana Crnovrsanin is a Licensed Social Worker in Illinois. She has an MA in Social Work from The University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work and a BA in Sociology and Criminal Justice from North Park University. Hana has personally experienced a variety of difficult life circumstances and conditions that placed her in a position to understand, validate, and create a safe space for individuals to not only express their current life stressors but to also have them understood. Due to coming from a non-traditional background and upbringing as a refugee in the United States and a first-generation immigrant to emotionally un-attuned parents, Hana knows how difficult it is to feel alone, misunderstood, and lost. Because of her personal exploration of self and desire to understand the impact of her childhood, as an adult Hana was guided towards a path of healing deep childhood wounds.

You may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, navigating the effects of past experiences, or seeking support around identity-related stress. Therapy can be a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand yourself. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and LGBTQ+-related concerns. To support our work together, I draw from a blend of evidence-based, trauma-focused approaches, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and expressive therapies such as art, narrative, and movement-based work. My training is rooted in a relational approach that integrates the neurobiology of trauma, allowing us to explore how early experiences and ongoing stress impact the nervous system and mind–body connection. I also incorporate IFS and ACT to help clients shift unhelpful patterns, build self-worth, and move toward meaningful goals. I am mindful of how identity, culture, and lived experiences shape mental health and the therapeutic process. My goal is to offer care that feels affirming, thoughtful, and responsive to each person’s story. If you’re looking for a therapist who values collaboration, reflection, and authenticity, I welcome you to reach out.
We are a group practice with many practitioners who have extensive experience working with college students. Services are available in person and virtually. Services are available in English and Spanish.
I am an Indian and Pakistani cis-gender woman from an immigrant family and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have a Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling (MAATC) and am a Provisionally Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P). I love working with people from different backgrounds and various identities attempting to preserve a sense of authentic self in the Western world. I have a strong background working with immigrant children, their families, as well as individuals of any age desiring self-acceptance, self-esteem, and support surrounding anxiety and depression. Due to my experience navigating the various parts of myself, I am passionate about serving those with opposing or oppressed identities such as those within the BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+ community. I am trilingual in Hindi/Urd’u, Spanish, and English and offer sessions in all three languages. Our various identities as individuals can sometimes pull us in opposite directions (opposing forces), occasionally forcing us to put forth different versions of ourselves and keeping our authentic selves hidden. This can cause much anxiety and panic, especially in a society where defining and boxing in individuals is the norm. As a child of an immigrant family, I am keenly aware of immigration-related anxiety and maintaining a balance between your culture and the Western world. Sometimes life can throw our internal compass/intuition off balance; for this reason, I integrate ancestral, intuitive, somatic, and spiritual practices and wisdoms into the healing process. I am passionate about increasing your sense of self-empowerment and using your authentic voice to advocate for yourself and your identities to inspire the changes you deem necessary within your community. Values and Approach It is incredibly important to me to operate from a culturally critical perspective, always questioning and expanding my understanding of one’s identities and cultures.
I use CBT, ACT, DBT, and Relational Cultural Theory to support LGBTQIA+ students with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and identity concerns. My style is warm and collaborative, helping you build coping skills and discover new perspectives. I create a safe space for growth, healing, and rewriting your story with strength. I believe we're all narrators of our own lives, even when challenges make us feel stuck in difficult chapters. My pronouns are he/him.
