I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of clinical experience and am licensed to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. My practice focus is on the provision of care to adolescents, adults and couples with special emphasis on women's issues (for both trans feminine and those designated female at birth) and serving the LGBTQ+ community.
My speciality is working with clients who are feeling stressed out and overwhelmed due to anxiety, feeling burnt out, or both. I support people in learning how to take charge of their anxiety by better understanding the physical and cognitive aspects of anxiety and developing a wide array of coping skills. Managing stress and anxiety is also about learning to set boundaries for yourself and others. I also help people with anxiety-based disorders such as OCD and social anxiety. I also help clients recovery from narcissistic/toxic abuse. My practice is a holistic approach which focuses on my clients' strengths and how to use them to their advantage in managing their mental health.
I am currently offering EMDR Intensive sessions to accelerate healing. I am a certified EMDR clinician, specializing in trauma and attachment work. I value the therapeutic relationship and believe that clients need to feel safe enough in therapy in order to dig deep and do the work. While I work with adolescents through adulthood, I work primarily with women ages 18-50.

Alex (he/him) is a Mental Health Counselor who believes that everyone’s voice deserves to be heard and that we have the ability to thrive when proper attention is given to our mind, body, and soul. Oftentimes, our voices are buried underneath preconceived notions bestowed upon us from others and even ourselves. Alex has a passion for working with individuals to discover their voice, explore and evaluate their values, examine their personal and professional relationships, and ultimately help people find peace within the context of their lives. Alex utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach using skills obtained from a plethora of working environments. While primarily utilizing a strength based, person-centered approach, Alex is also proficient in the teachings of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Systems therapy, among other modalities. Alex utilizes these approaches to help individuals assess their needs and identify which strategies may be most fruitful.
What makes Self Reflections Therapy unique is the ability to help you better address your trauma. I currently specialize and I am certified in Trauma Recovery Empowerment Model. This is an evidence based model that focuses on healing from trauma. I can help with both therapy and emotional support through ongoing cases. Services are also person centered! I have worked with clientele from all different backgrounds, cultures, and ages in spectrums such as domestic violence victims/survivors, sexual assault, homicide, substance abuse, and integrating those who have been incarcerated back into the community for over 6 years. My focus in therapy sessions is working together to address concerns holistically.
I help people to heal from past trauma and hurtful experiences so that they can decrease anxiety, increase feelings of self-worth and develop authentic relationships. Together we will address the underlying patterns and fears that are keeping you in survival-mode so that you develop the confidence and courage to move toward the life you want to live. You may be struggling with: Difficulty in relationships or creating a healthy relationship. Constantly people-pleasing. Shame and low self-esteem. Feeling like you have to hide part of yourself. Anxiety holding you back. A challenging relationship with your body. Feeling held back in this way is deeply painful. My job is not to fix you (because you're not broken), but to work with you to address the underlying patterns and fear. During our sessions, we may explore how unhealthy patterns and limiting self-beliefs play a role in where you are struggling. I work without judgment of your truth is, where you currently are, or where it is you’d like to go. I integrate my background in energy psychology and training as a meditation teacher into my work. I blend trauma-informed, attachment, and somatic interventions into my work with clients.
I have been in private practice since 1997. After graduating from the California School of Professional Psychology with a Ph.D in clinical psychology and U.C. Berkeley with an MPH, I practiced in California which included attending privileges at several hospitals. I moved back East in 2001, and have been in private practice since that time. In addition to my private practice, I provide consultation to the University of Massachusetts Medical School Department of Psychiatry medical students, residents and fellows. I see undergraduate students from MIT to Worcester State, as well as high school students. I can say with complete honesty that I love my work and feel blessed to be of service to those willing to share their lives and collaborate to find the life they need. People come to share their deepest hopes and their deepest pain. Together we make sense of life in a way that works for you. Sh

I consider the relationship between client and therapist one of the most important factors in therapy. As a therapist, my goal is to create a comfortable, non-judgmental space so I can assist others in exploring negative patterns in their lives and help them develop new tools to foster positive coping skills. I utilize a holistic approach to therapy, with special focus on the body and mind and how they interact. As a registered yoga teacher, my treatment approach places emphasis on turning inward and reconnecting with the body to help release stored emotions. I use a trauma-informed approach to life issues with clients and incorporate mindfulness skills, somatic movement, and breathwork into my therapy practice. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, PTSD, and mood disorders. Additionally, I work with clients who are experiencing grief and loss, life transitions, addiction, caregiver stress, interpersonal/relationship problems, and codependency.

The transition to college or graduate school can be a time of tremendous change. Adapting to new environments, relationships and levels of independence can feel overwhelming in even the best of circumstances. For those who are navigating mental health challenges, complicated family or friend dynamics, shifts in identity, grief, or loss, that transition can generate feelings of anxiety, panic or paralysis that may affect daily functioning. I was a client long before I became a therapist, so I know how daunting it can be to open yourself up to a stranger – to let them see those private parts of yourself that might have been a source of judgment, fear, pain or shame. It took me many years to ask for help, in part because I viewed it as a sign of weakness. Now, through the lens of both my professional and lived experiences, I see this first step you are taking for what it is – one of the ultimate signs of strength. I honor the courage it took to access that strength. I can’t guarantee that the work ahead will be easy – but you won’t have to do it alone. My goal as a therapist is to meet you where you are and walk with you as you move toward where you want to be. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is authentic, safe and non-judgmental. My approach to our work together is relationship-based and trauma-informed. I believe that therapy is most effective when the connection between client and therapist is grounded in trust and compassion. I invite you to reach out so that we can explore, together, whether I might be the right person to join you on your journey toward new insights, self-awareness and growth. Please note that discounts are available to full-time students on a case-by-case basis.
