What I love most about my work is walking alongside people as they navigate life’s most difficult moments — grief, major life transitions, caregiving, serious illness, or the stress and uncertainty that comes with change. Life transitions can reshape how we understand ourselves, our relationships, and our future. Big changes — divorce, moving, career shifts, chronic illness, or the death of someone you love — can leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy is not about “moving on” or “getting over” your grief or stress. It’s about learning how to carry life’s challenges while honoring your story. I specialize in relational therapy that helps individuals, parents, and families make sense of the grief, stress, and anxiety that often comes with life transitions, while building on your inherent strengths to achieve your goals. I use principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build practical skills for coping and managing difficult emotions. I strive to be an authentic, warm, and honest therapist that brings empathy, understanding, and a little lightness to healing. Please feel welcome to reach out for an initial phone consultation - I would love to see if we’re a good fit.

I am a Mental Health Counselor, practicing in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and the founder of Self First Counseling, PLLC. I have had the pleasure to work with a range of individuals across my career. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University in Behavior and Health and later received my Master of Science degree at Salem State University in Mental Health Counseling Psychology. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, alcohol use, stress, and relationship/family issues. I am a certified clinician and supervisor in the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA), an evidence based approach to working with adolescents and young adults who struggle with substance use. My approach to counseling is client centered. I believe it is important to meet my clients where they are at and collaborate around goals of counseling. I have previous experience working in settings such as residential programs, intensive in-home services, and within medical settings. I find it important to build an alliance with my clients where we can work together and I can support my clients in making strides towards completing their identified goals. I believe strongly in highlighting strengths and keeping a strength-based attitude throughout treatment. I believe that we are all unique and, therefore, one technique does not fit all. I feel strongly that counseling can support us when we are in a difficult place, but also when we are doing well. It’s important to have support from others and be able to continue to make progress so we can always be a better version of ourselves than we were the day before. Set-backs and struggles are all a part of life, change, and success. I am here to provide education, support, validation, encouragement, and new ideas in order to help my clients achieve the success and change they are looking for. Your journey of self starts here.

Healing is nuanced, deeply personal, and rarely linear. It’s okay to ask for some extra support along the way. Therapy can be a space to help you process what feels stuck, create meaningful change, and feel more at home in yourself. You are not alone in this. I’m a queer, nonbinary therapist with over a decade of clinical experience across multiple levels of care. I have particular expertise in supporting adults as they navigate eating disorder recovery, body image healing, life transitions, and LGBTQIA2S+ mental health. The heart of my practice is building bridges of compassion between the body, mind, and sense of self. My dialectical and holistic approach is grounded in queer affirmation, neurodiversity affirmation, body liberation, and harm reduction. Whatever is bringing you to therapy, please reach out for a free phone consultation. I’d be glad to connect.

The Narrative Network offers collaborative therapy for people across Massachusetts and brings therapists together for supervision, training, and ongoing relationships with the ideas and practices called narrative therapy. We believe people are more than the problems they are facing. Difficulties take shape in lives, relationships, histories, and social worlds — and therapy can create room to notice the values, knowledges, commitments, and relationships that may have become harder to see when life is difficult.

You may appear confident on the outside, but internally struggle with self-doubt, anxiety, or fear of rejection. Many of my clients feel “too much” and not enough at the same time, which can show up as overgiving, withdrawing, or difficulty setting boundaries. I work with high-achieving individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, and grief—often expressed through overthinking, emotional avoidance, or disconnection. These patterns are often rooted in early experiences, cultural pressures, or navigating marginalized identities, all of which can shape how we view ourselves and relate to others. Together, we work to build a more grounded sense of self, increase emotional awareness, and shift away from survival patterns like numbing, overcontrolling, or checking out. My goal is to help you feel more confident, connected, and at ease in your life and relationships. I especially enjoy working with BIPOC clients, Asian Americans, first-generation individuals, and those exploring identity and belonging. I offer a free, no-pressure consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

I am a client-centered psychologist who works with adults and adolescents (13+). I believe therapy should involve the whole person - including our internal, social, societal, spiritual, and physical selves. I invite clients to be collaborators in finding and exploring what will help them achieve growth. I provide a warm, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment and believe a strong client-therapist relationship is essential for growth and change. I integrate aspects of multiple therapeutic modalities, including behavioral approaches (CBT, DBT, behavioral medicine/health psychology), mindfulness-based interventions, humanism, existential, relational and developmental theory, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic-informed care. I help patients/clients address a range of concerns including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use struggles, difficulties in relationships, grief/loss, identifying life goals, navigating life transitions, and balancing work-life demands. I received my training at William James College (Newton, MA). Trained with Advocates Community Counseling, Rutgers University College Counseling, and Boston Behavioral Medicine. I completed a post-doctoral behavioral health fellowship at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and worked there as a staff psychologist until October 2019. I have worked extensively in individual therapy, worked with adolescents and their caregivers, and have led mindfulness skills groups and anxiety skills groups. Managing OCD, anxiety, and/or depression on top of the demands of work, school, social responsibilities, family responsibilities, or even leisure time is exhausting. It takes so much time and energy to deal with anxiety and takes you away from the things you care about. You deserve to feel better and do more than just try to get through your day. I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment and work collaboratively with you in an empathic manner using evidence-based treatment, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (or exposure and response prevention for OCD). Finding a therapist who fits what you are looking for can be a challenging experience. I admire your bravery in taking this first step. If you have questions about my practice, background, or approach we can set up a call to discuss if it would be a good fit.

We specialize in supporting individuals with anxiety/mood concerns, helping navigate and improve intimate and family relationships, guiding through life transitions, and caring for those suffering from issues rooted in systemic racial oppression, socioeconomic barriers, LGBTQIA+ concerns, cultural/spiritual differences, and more. However, please know that our doors are open to all individuals seeking therapeutic support.
