Therapists for college students near Harvard University
Though it may be difficult to see the opportunity for healing and change in the midst of a struggle, seeking help is a first step toward new possibilities. I am dedicated to building a deep relationship with you and provide a private and safe space for you to explore your concerns. Through the process of self discovery many find greater equanimity, purpose, and compassion, and an expanded capacity for love. My specialties include identity concerns, existential challenges and crises, cultural adjustment, life transitions, depression, anxiety, loss and grief and trauma. I enjoy working with college and graduate students, international students, and young adults. I also enjoy working with creatives, scientists, healthcare professionals, activists and meditators and bring my own direct experience with meditation and creativity to my work. My therapeutic lens is psychodynamic and is deeply informed by Buddhist psychology. I integrate mindfulness practices, meditation, breath work, and Compassion Focused Therapy in my approach. My practice is collaborative, holistic, and flexible, holding space for all aspects of wellbeing, the emotional, physical, spiritual, relational, and creative. I have been the field since in 1994 following a career in the arts. I have worked in college counseling centers, community mental health and hospital settings and have been in private practice since 2004.
I am currently offering EMDR Intensive sessions to accelerate healing. I am a certified EMDR clinician, specializing in trauma and attachment work. I value the therapeutic relationship and believe that clients need to feel safe enough in therapy in order to dig deep and do the work. While I work with adolescents through adulthood, I work primarily with women ages 18-50.
There is a delicate balance between accepting life as it is and our inherent desire for change. This duality is at the heart of my therapeutic approach-creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals feel empowered to explore themselves, their experiences, and their potential for growth. I specialize in providing compassionate support for those navigating the complexities of major life adjustments, relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and personal crises. I approach this with deep respect for each person’s unique spiritual beliefs, existential questions, and process of meaning making. I draw inspiration from humanistic and transpersonal theories, integrating evidence-based modalities like Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also incorporate mindfulness practices, guided imagery, and grounding exercises to help clients build resilience, find inner peace, and cultivate a sense of agency in their lives. As an RYT 200 Yoga Teacher, I also believe in the transformative power of body-mind connection. I integrate elements of yoga, meditation, and self-care, recognizing the importance of maintaining balance, well-being, and grounding in the present moment. I believe this quote from The Lord of the Rings captures the essence of my work: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” It is a reminder that we have the power to shape our lives, our healing, and the way we approach each moment. I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your own journey toward growth, healing, and transformation.
