I have been a Clinical Psychologist for over 23 years and have both the educational and work experience to treat children, adolescents, adults, and families. I often build trust and rapport quickly, while instilling hope and optimism. Therapy is performed both in person and tele therapeutically, helping to ameliorate symptoms and improve overall functioning in those that I serve. Clients will tell you that I am nonjudgmental, open minded, approachable, live by Christian values and I am respectful of all people. I continue to work hard to be an ally, learning from others as they learn from me. Leaning on my extensive experience helping parents and being a parent myself, I apply structural family therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy as we work on their parental effectiveness, active listening, behavioral management, co-parenting, and affective expression. I really enjoy and have found success in performing couples counseling and often have evening hours that make it easier for both partners to get into therapy consistently. For years, clients have felt relaxed and heard in the sessions, making continuing therapy seamless for many. Regarding diagnoses, I have helped ameliorate symptoms for clients with ADHD, Anxiety, Bipolar, Depression, GAD, PTSD, OCD, ODD, and adjustment disorders, etc.. I have some experience with substance abuse diagnoses, but only secondary as this is not my expertise. Currently, I am accepting the following insurances: Aetna, BCBS, Blue Cross Complete, BCN, McLaren, Mclaren Medicaid, Medicare, Michigan Medicaid, Molina, Multiplan, Optum, and PHP (Out-Of-Network coverage). Finally, being located near East Lansing, I am in a prime location for college students and have helped many with a broad range of issues and have had many clients state that they have had therapists in the past, but have felt more connected to, listened to, and made more progress herein.
A lot of college students feel like they should have everything figured out by now. The truth is, most people don’t. College can bring a lot of pressure, academically, socially, and personally. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, lonely, or navigating relationship challenges, or questioning your direction about what comes next. Many students I work with come to therapy because something in their life doesn’t feel quite right. Sometimes that means exploring stress happening right now, and other times it means getting curious about past experiences or childhood dynamics that may still be shaping patterns in relationships, self-confidence, or the way you handle difficult emotions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping you better understand yourself while also building practical tools to manage stress and feel steadier. Therapy with me doesn’t have to feel stiff or overly clinical; humor, swearing, and showing up as your real self are all welcome here. My office is located by a GVSU Laker Line bus stop and is about a 10-minute walk. You don’t have to sort everything out on your own. Reach out if you're ready to start getting the support you need!

I specialize in working in the aftermath of trauma and violence, neurodivergence, identity exploration, existential thoughts, psychiatric harm, and interpersonal relationships. I often work with college students, those experiencing life transitions, LGBTQIA2S+ folk, those with disabilities and multi-racial persons. My approach is rooted in empowerment, interpersonal dynamics and liberation. I strive to find techniques and tools specifically for you, so you walk away from each session feeling like we have truly done the work. I am a fully licensed psychologist who specializes in providing assessment services for adults, adolescents, and children. The path to self-understanding can be a challenging one. My goal through testing is to provide a safe place for individuals to gain insight into their behaviors, personality, and mental health concerns. These assessments typically examine the person's history, behavioral observations, and test results to provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment recommendations. I am well versed with psychological testing with diagnosis of attention issues (ADD/ADHD) and differential diagnosis for clinical syndromes. I also offer screening for learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
Calling all stressed-out, anxious Jewish college students! You’re figuring out who you are—while juggling exams, dating apps, and the gnawing feeling that the world is falling apart. Add in questions about your Jewish identity, complicated family dynamics, and maybe a roommate who thinks antisemitism ended in 1945—and it’s a lot. You don’t have to process it alone. Therapy can be a place to bring your spiraling thoughts, perfectionism, existential dread, and hope for the future. You deserve a life free from the constant grip of anxiety. My clients finish their sessions feeling more at peace, more centered, and less tense in their bodies. Through our work, they become less critical of themselves. They learn how to manage difficult emotions. They also feel a sense of belonging. You’ll learn how to set healthy boundaries and ask for what you need more easily. You can rediscover pleasure in intimacy with your partner and grow more confident in expressing your needs. Weekends will bring laughter again, and work will start to feel rewarding instead of draining. You’ll be able to focus on your goals and tackle that To-Do list without spiraling into panic or curling up on the couch. You can step into the present moment with calm, clarity, and confidence.
I offer personalized support using evidence-based methods to guide you through your mental health journey. I'm Sumeyah Chaudhry, a specialist in Anxiety and Obsessive-Complusive Disorder (OCD), working with adolescents and adults 14 and older. I especially enjoy supporting high school students, college students, and young professionals on their journey toward healing. I work primarily with teens and adults experiencing OCD, health anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, specific phobias, and more. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I'm one of the limited clinicians in the Ann Arbor area with specialized training in this mode of therapy. Taking the first step can feel scary, but you are not alone—I’m here to listen and support you. Together, we can build practical tools and skills to help you create a more fulfilling life. You feel exhausted from running in circles. You try so hard, but you still can’t shake the feeling. You over-schedule, overcommit, and always keep yourself busy. You listen to podcasts about stress and time management, but still have a hard time relaxing and having fun because your brain won’t shut off. You haven’t had a good night’s sleep in ages, and you never feel rested. Maybe you … • Can’t stop thinking about an incident or situation—to the point where it’s hard to focus when usually you are on top of everything. • Watch yourself overreact to people and situations, but you don’t know how to stop it. • Zone out and feel like you’re watching yourself from afar at a meeting or social event. Or maybe you lose hours at a time binging Netflix or getting lost in games or social media on your phone. • Spend a lot of time worry about other people’s behavior, motivation, and what they might be thinking about you. Say “yes” even when you don’t want to. • Know that you have so much more potential, but end up feeling exhausted and can’t shake the feeling that no matter what you do, you’ll never be “good enough. I’m here to support you with empathy, compassion and expertise. I specialize in supporting busy professionals, healthcare workers, and helpers of all kinds who have it within them to work through their pain and heal their wounds but need some help getting there. I’m a certified EMDR therapist who has over 20 years experience as a clinical social worker. My advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (a somatic approach), and Internal Family Systems (“parts work”) means I have the expertise you need and deserve. I also have a background in improv and theater, so we may even find ourselves having fun along the way! Therapy doesn’t need to be all tears. My clients describe me as warm, collaborative, supportive, creative and nonjudgmental. Through my work with clients, I have learned that “words are not enough” and that therapy modalities that address suffering from a “bottom up” perspective have long-lasting, permanent results. Therapy approaches that focus primarily on coping skills and talk therapy to gain insight can sometimes leave you feeling frustrated, because no matter how much you try to talk and think your way into feeling better, it can only take you so far. You may intellectually understand your issues, but you still feel like there’s a disconnect between head and heart. My clients are looking for deeper change. My approach integrates EMDR with attachment-focused therapies such as IFS (Internal Family Systems) and body-focused psychotherapies such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, along with talk therapy, so that every step we take together is tailored to healing that includes both mind and body and helps you get to the root of issues so can start to feel like yourself again. My goal is to empower you in every step of the process. Together, we’ll identify the difficult experiences that are causing you to feel stuck and we’ll create a roadmap so that you’ll know how to achieve your goals. We’ll focus on your strengths and build on your resources with practical mind-body tools that really work for you. We’ll work on transforming old wounds that are causing distress so they no longer keep you stuck in old patterns and unhelpful beliefs. By the end of our time together, you will know that even when life gets tough—which it inevitably will!—you will meet future challenges with self-compassion and resilience.
