Therapists for college students near New York University
Our therapists are specially trained to address the roots of trauma and provide the tools to approach everyday life with a positive attitude and a peaceful mindset. Everyone’s healing journey is different, and we pride ourselves on an approach that includes cultural sensitivity to individual situations. Therapy can be hard, we understand. This is why our goal is to make it fun, relatable, and something you want to keep doing. Using a relaxed conversational approach, we help our clients get to the root of their struggles and find true healing.
Imagine a world where you don’t lie in bed for hours replaying every situation in your head staying up way too late and ruining the next day. Instead, you fall asleep peacefully and can make major decisions without it fully consuming your night, sleep and over all day to day. Inside, there’s a voice that questions your worth, filling you with doubt—but you're ready to rise above it. You're tired of holding back, and deep down, you know you're meant for more—more confidence, more peace, and deeper, more fulfilling connections. I get it! I create a space in which you will feel relaxed while also allowing for you to feel understood. I will not just sit and nod, I will ask you questions, guide you and challenge you. I enjoy blending CBT and psychodynamic perspectives to ensure the most meaningful healing process. You deserve someone who is competent and caring. Let's connect!
I am a mature psychoanalyst who has experience working with college students and other young adults who are facing life transitions. My areas of strength are working with trauma and BPD. You may be carrying a lot of trauma even if you don't identify yourself as a trauma survivor. My approach is not goal or coach oriented. I do not give advice rather I help people to get in touch with their authentic self so that they may be better able to cope with life's challenges.

I’m Gabrielle, and I support students who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, reproductive or hormonal changes, identity shifts, and life transitions. Many of the students I work with are navigating experiences like: • Anxiety or depression that feels heavier than usual • Grief after a loss or major life change • Pregnancy or postpartum feelings that are confusing or overwhelming • Stress related to fertility concerns or reproductive health • Difficult medical or hospital experiences • Identity or relationship changes that feel unsettling My approach is compassionate, down-to-earth, and centered on what you need most. The goal is always to feel better about love and work. I welcome adult individuals and adolescents into my practice, with a focus on college students. My work is psychoanalytically informed but pragmatic, and it is important to me to get to know my patients well and to spend time working collaboratively through their needs. I hold master's and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA and completed my psychoanalytic training at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research in New York. My private practice office is located in Union Square in Manhattan, and in the coming months I'll be opening an office in the Hudson Valley area of upstate New York.

I am a licensed clinical psychotherapist (LCSW) with extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults coping with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, challenging life circumstances, transitions, relationship issues, and trauma. I believe in treating each patient as an individual. I draw from many different treatment modalities in order to help patients better understand themselves and develop skills to cope with anxiety, stress, depression, and other emotional pressures. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where patients can talk openly and freely without fear of judgment. In this space patients can reflect on their experiences in order to better understand themselves, work towards their goals, and ultimately increase enjoyment of life.
The students I work best with are curious, thoughtful, and often in a period of deep self-questioning. Many are figuring out who they are, what they believe, and what kind of life they want to build. Some have experimented with psychedelics and are left with big questions afterward about meaning, identity, emotions, or reality itself. They want support in making sense of those experiences in a grounded, non-judgmental way. I also work well with students who feel alone or disconnected, especially when that feeling traces back to childhood experiences, family dynamics, or early trauma. These students may struggle with anxiety, sadness, shame, or a sense that they don’t quite belong. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, feel understood, and explore what’s coming up without pressure to have it all figured out.
I work with motivated clients on a variety of issues ranging from relationship challenges, adjusting to school, anxiety, and depression, to grief and loss, trauma, and complex family dynamics. I help clients learn to observe a wider range of variables that are contributing to problems and make meaningful behavioral changes. Anyone who is motived to find new solutions can benefit from this work, even in a short period of time.
I specialize in providing queer-affirming therapy to adults who are experiencing difficulties navigating identity issues, burnout, stress, and stigma. I have experience working with college students on self-esteem, identity exploration, perfectionism, anxiety, and practical skills such as time management.
Is it just me, or do a lot of these "bios" start to sound the same after a while? Finding a therapist online is difficult, which I know from personal experience. I am here to provide connections, help facilitate joy and offer a space for you to learn to express your needs and be supported. Our practice together will value your lived experiences as the primary material and will be co-created through empathy and open communication. These systems of mental health are not ones that want us to "feel better", thanks to capitalism and systemic racism. I want to offer a space to fight against that. I have experience working with "high-risk" (read, traumatized and hurt) people living with mental illnesses and difficult experiences. I am comfortable working with what is often labeled as the more "severe" diagnoses and I focus of finding the health in every individual. I am a New York State licensed creative arts therapist and a board certified dance/movement therapist. This helps me in finding creative and expressive ways to connect in therapy spaces for all different types of people. I believe we can all benefit from some extra support lately! Contact me for a free consult to see if working together will be a good fit.

Hi! We are a therapy practice providing individual therapy, couples counseling, group therapy, and psychedelic integration. We offer in-person therapy sessions in our Williamsburg, Brooklyn offices, as well as online therapy sessions throughout New York state. We are an excellent match for people who subscribe to non-traditional lifestyles and we specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community. Our staff is expertly trained, multilingual, and diverse in experience and background. However you identify, we strive to truly know you as an individual - your values, beliefs, and outlook on life - while also maintaining an appreciation for overarching human needs, such as the desire for connection with others and the longing to feel understood. We offer therapy that is tailored toward your specific needs and rests on an affirming, humanistic, and trauma-informed stance. We are trained in a range of modalities, including psychodynamic, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), narrative therapy, and somatic work. We will help you build insight into why you are feeling distress, so that you can use this insight to make positive changes to improve your life and start feeling better. While working to deepen insight, we concurrently help you process any difficult emotions that arise. Depending on your needs and requests, we may integrate therapy skills and tools, mindfulness exercises, or movement and art in our work together. We consider therapy to be a co-created process and attend to your mind, heart, body, and spirit to help you heal.
Some days you’ve got it together. Other days, it feels like everything’s falling apart—classes, friendships, dating, or just trying to keep up. If stress, anxiety, or feeling down is making it tough to focus, connect with people, or feel like yourself, you’re not the only one. Therapy gives you space to talk it out—no pressure, no judgment—so you can figure out what’s really going on and start feeling more grounded and confident. I bring warmth, creativity, and a sense of humor into the room, because therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. If you’re ready to feel a little lighter—and a lot less alone—let’s get started.
As a counselor, my priority is to create a collaborative, safe, and judgment-free space where you feel fully supported. My goal is to help you become the person you want to be and to work with you toward achieving the goals that matter most to you. I believe the most effective therapy integrates both past and present—exploring how past experiences shape current challenges, while actively practicing new strategies in and outside of sessions to create change. Throughout my career, I’ve helped clients facing a wide range of challenges. My main areas of focus include substance abuse and addiction, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, career and life transitions, and men's mental health. What this means is I provide support around addiction, trauma, and men’s mental health—and the many issues connected to them. With 5+ years of experience as a therapist and life coach, I’ve successfully helped clients from age 14-50 navigate ADHD, executive functioning, career issues, personality disorders, relationship issues, grief and loss, and much more. I am also partnered with a Ketamine-care practice, and along with their prescribers I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. To make an appointment for either a 15-min free consultation call or an hour long initial session, please use the link below. I am available Monday through Thursday both in-person and virtually. mindfulmentalhealth.clientsecure.me/ Insurance companies unethically force therapists to give a diagnosis after one session with a client, & they also do not maintain high enough standards of confidentiality and data safety. I do not accept insurance to avoid these issues, but I will help you get reimbursed using your Out Of Network benefits. Clients are normally reimbursed for up to 80% of the therapy cost!
