As a mental health counselor dedicated to helping patients cultivate clarity and confidence, I specialize in treating children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. My goal is to help you navigate anxiety, trauma, depression, burnout, life transitions, and/or identity explorations so you live your life fully and authentically. I believe that you are the expert on your life and that everyone is capable of growth and change, which helps me be a supportive and motivational partner to you in the therapy room. I look forward to being a part of your transformative growth in our work together. I’m passionate about helping you know yourself better, increase your psychological flexibility, and find your inner strength. We achieve this together in a collaborative and empathetic environment that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to guide you in identifying and understanding your core beliefs and patterns, and becoming aware of how these are serving or not serving you. My style is eclectic, collaborative, and person-centered so that care is tailored to your unique needs. My career began with the desire to be a teacher, a path that inspired me to help people learn more about themselves and how to interact with the world around them, not just within school subjects. This experience, along with time spent working with children, adolescents, and families who are or who have been involved in the legal, justice, and child welfare systems, led me to pursue counseling. In my role now as a therapist, I’m committed to using the knowledge and wisdom gained throughout my journey by providing evidence-based mental health care that meets people where they’re at through warmth and humor. I enjoy filling my free time with friends, family, and loved ones. You’ll also often find me scrapbooking and crocheting, or out and about going for walks, spending time outside, and listening to live music.

I believe in creating partnerships based on collaboration and respect, as I’m passionate about offering a space where patients feel truly heard. I look forward to meeting you in your mental health journey and helping you find the right tools and treatment approach that best supports your needs. Working together, you can expect a safe and welcoming environment where you feel comfortable discussing your concerns openly and empowered to take an active role in your mental health journey. My style is collaborative and tailored to your unique experiences and needs, so that we can create a personalized treatment plan that best addresses your individual goals. This plan may include evidence-based practices and psychoeducation to help you gain a better understanding of your mental health and develop effective strategies to improve mental wellness. My career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner began as a nurse, spending many years working in various psychiatric settings. After gaining a wealth of experience in these settings, and from working with diverse patient populations, I felt a deepened commitment to providing high-quality care to people in my community. This led me to becoming a PMHNP and my role at SOL Mental Health, where I bring clinical experience, insight, and empathy to each session. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, exploring new neighborhoods, spending time with loved ones, and relishing good food.
I GREW UP IN THE IN-BETWEEN — moving back and forth between the US and China, I know first-hand what it is like to be faced with the unknown, the struggle of finding yourself in a new place, a new culture, a new stage of life, or a new identity. I FIND JOY in helping people find the pieces of themselves they can rely on and fall in love with through it all. My goal is to honor the beauty of your existence while teaching you the skills that can carry you through rougher times. The process of healing, learning who you are and what you need to care for yourself, is a challenging but rewarding one. IT TAKES COURAGE to confront and accept yourself completely, and I hope to provide a compassionate and safe space for you to explore, to grieve, to rage, or to find joy in everything that you've experienced. The fact that you have survived everything so far to be here now is more important than anything else. It is an honor for me to witness your courage and your strength. IT IS A PRIVILEGE to be a part of your journey. I admire you. You matter to me.

His approach is flexible and tailored to each individual, drawing from person-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Hey there! I am Nyx Melody. I use they/them/their and fae/faer/faers pronouns. I am a queer and non-binary, genderqueer, trans femme New York State licensed psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, educator and consultant on anti-oppression, mental health, and LGBTQIPA2S+ issues. I have had experience working with individuals, couples, and groups who are struggling with various issues, including but not limited to: trauma/abuse, gender/sexual identity, anxiety, depression, substance use, acculturation, racial identity exploration, and dismantling internalized inferiority and/or superiority.
Lincoln Square Psychotherapy is a private, group practice focused on working with individuals facing a wide variety of life’s challenges. The practice’s priority is to create a client-centered, non-judgmental environment where you feel safe and heard. We are trained in a variety of treatment modalities including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing.
I work with clients feeling stuck in anxiety, depression, or self-doubt, especially during college life adjustments, life changes or relationship challenges. Many share feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to express their needs. I provide a supportive space to explore feelings, build clarity and confidence, and develop tools for emotional balance. I'd be honored to support your journey.
With more than six years of experience as a psychotherapist, I specialize in psychodynamic therapy, helping you explore how your past and present experiences shape your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. Whether you're navigating anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, OCD, or a significant life transition, my goal is to work alongside you in a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where real growth is possible. My practice welcomes adolescents, young adults, and adults alike. Authenticity is at the heart of everything I do. Meaningful therapy begins with a genuine human connection, and I strive to create an environment where you feel safe being fully yourself, without judgment or pretense. By showing up with honesty, curiosity, and openness, I aim to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, collaboration, and real understanding. Therapy with me is a conversation, not a cold process. At the core of my approach is a strong, genuine therapeutic alliance because I believe that kind of connection is what makes meaningful change possible. When we work together, I listen carefully to both your words and what lies beneath them, helping you uncover clarity and strength you may not have known was there. For exploring how your past and present connect, I draw on psychodynamic therapy. To give you practical tools for managing anxiety, ADHD, and mood-related challenges, I weave in techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). When OCD is part of the picture, I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to help you build distress tolerance and find relief from the cycle of obsessions and compulsions. This blend of insight-oriented exploration and evidence-based tools is designed to support change that lasts. A desire to help others has been part of who I am for as long as I can remember. As I moved into young adulthood, that impulse deepened into genuine fascination with the science and philosophy of the mind. Social psychology captivated me, particularly the landmark experiments of Stanley Milgram, and I found myself drawn to the rich landscape of therapeutic orientations, from psychoanalytic frameworks and humanistic psychology to attachment theory and beyond. That curiosity translated into action through internships and professional experiences that shaped me as a clinician. I gained hands-on skills working with adolescents and adults within the child welfare system and in crisis intervention settings. Providing care to patients across a broad range of cultural backgrounds has profoundly enriched my perspective and deepened my commitment to meeting each person with the attentiveness and respect they deserve. Outside of the therapy room, you'll find me at the gym, training in Muay Thai, or exploring a new restaurant. I also have a longtime love of voice acting and rarely miss a chance to catch a new film. These passions keep me energized and present in my own life, which I believe makes me a better, more grounded presence for you in ours.

Reaching out for help can be hard. We will do our best to provide a safe, supportive environment, when you can feel free to share as much as you need to. We consider therapy to be a collaboration between clinician and patient. Our job is to work with you to help you better understand your inner thoughts and feelings so that you can become the best version of you. We tend to follow patterns of behavior based on our earliest identities. Some of us go through life thinking we are not smart enough, not good looking enough, not capable enough, or not as good as others. It's important to understand that these beliefs are not in fact reality, but an internalized sense of self that we have learned from our earliest experiences. Because of these beliefs, we can often find ourselves repeating unhealthy patterns in relationships, how we deal with stress, social isolation, engaging in unhealthy or risky behaviors, and all manner of acting out in self-destructive ways. Therapy can help re-define who you are, so that instead following these unhealthy patterns, you can make choices that are informed by what you really want, as opposed to what you think you deserve. Therapy is not a quick fix. It takes time and commitment, and it is hard. We are ready to make that commitment with you, and be with you on your journey of self-discovery, so that you can become the author of your own life, rather than letting it be written for you. Please contact us for a free consultation.

Welcome! I work with adolescents and young adults with trauma, anxiety and depression. Many are struggling to navigate family relationships during life transitions or identity shifts. As a writer, I enjoy working with artists as they navigate creative blocks. I practice from a psychodynamic approach, drawing heavily on attachment theory and relational strengths. I have extensive experience working with college-aged students and young adults. I welcome you to reach out for a phone call to discuss your needs, and whether we might work together.
Healing is rarely a direct path, and you don't have to walk it alone. As a queer psychotherapist, my work is rooted in LGBTQIA+-affirming, trauma-informed, relational therapy for adult individuals and couples. Whatever brings you here, whether it's a persistent sense of being stuck, patterns that feel hard to break, or a quiet discontent you haven't been able to name, I'm here to help you make sense of it. Drawing from a psychodynamic framework, I help you explore the cycles of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be keeping you from living the life you want. Together, we'll uncover how you became who you are, and how you'd like to grow. My commitment is to create a space that feels genuinely safe for exploration, connection, and vulnerability so that you can show up openly and honestly in our work together. Specializing in attachment-based, relational therapy, my approach is engaging, open-minded, gentle, and direct. Getting to know your internal world fully, understanding who you are and the challenges you've faced, is where our work begins. From there, we find pathways forward together. You can expect a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where curiosity and honesty are always welcome. Using psychodynamic and relational therapy, we'll explore what's keeping you feeling stuck, conflicted, or discontent, and work through it at a pace that feels right for you. Every person who comes to me brings a unique story, set of needs, and goals, and my approach is personalized to reflect that. Trust and connection are the foundation of everything we do here. My path to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. Growing up, navigating my own queerness and systems of oppression, coming of age in a low-income and unstable home where I was parentified at an early age, and supporting family members through addiction and encounters with the justice system shaped how I see the world and how I show up for the people I work with. Those experiences gave me a firsthand understanding of how systems, circumstances, and identity can profoundly affect a person's sense of self and sense of possibility. They also deepened my commitment to providing care that is integrated, compassionate, and anti-oppressive. Whatever you've carried, and however you've gotten here, I bring both clinical training and lived understanding to our work together. Outside of the therapy room, you'll find me behind a drum kit, out on my bike exploring Brooklyn, or underwater on a scuba dive. Photography, swimming, and reading nonfiction also keep me curious and grounded, while competitive game nights, good TV, and my amazing cats provide plenty of joy and laughter.

People come to therapy for a lot of reasons, but many feel like they need a change from how things are. Some don’t know what it is that needs to change, and they want more insight about what new roads they might try walking down. Others know exactly the changes they want to make in their lives, but they need a safe place to say it out loud to themselves, and they want help along the way. Some can’t change their situation and still yearn to be at peace. Regardless of what brought you to session, my goal during our time together is to work with you to help you identify obstacles in your path. My style is empowering, warm, and pragmatic. I work with people to manage their challenging experiences and connect with the life they want. I use cognitive behavior and acceptance and commitment therapy techniques. I provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, and specialize in evaluating for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders and autism. I don't know you yet, but I'm excited to get to know you and help you come to a greater understanding of your values and getting you back to living the life you'd like to be living.
