Therapists for college students near New York, NY
Therapy with me is a collaborative process where we will work together to understand and address your needs. Through humor and vulnerability, we’ll co-create a judgment-free space for your authentic self to flourish. I utilize a mindfulness-based and relational approach to support clients in creating positive change in their lives. I have successfully supported sexually and gender diverse folx, older folx, neurodivergent folx, and poly/ENM folx dealing with issues of identity, shame, body image, trauma, and interpersonal conflict issues. I approach therapy with an anti-oppressive lens, assisting folx with unlearning internalized messages and thought patterns that prevent growth. I am excited to empower and support you in your journey of self-discovery!
TriBeCa Therapy is a center for psychotherapy that was founded on the assumption that human beings are original, imaginative, inspired, and inventive. We particularly love our work with young adults and college students and are connected to issues they deal with. Issues related to sex and dating, drugs and drinking, depression and anxiety and academic pressures aren’t topics that will freak us out. We can handle it. College students frequently discuss with us challenges such as: making friends in ways that don’t involve alcohol, making friends as a person of color, navigating social situations that demand connecting with strangers (like in the cafeteria) and finding “their people.” We work to create a partnership that takes these challenges on together, trying new strategies, taking increasingly bigger risks and dealing with the disappointments and celebrating the successes that follow. College is a time when many young adults are dealing with very adults issues like sex, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse, managing money, race, class, and career choices. Creating a space where young adults feel comfortable talking about these issues is a strength of our therapists and a non-judgmental stance is key. The object isn’t to insist on a particular set of values or practices, but to support young people to understand what they are dealing with and to make active choices about who they want to be. We are a small group of cognitive-behavioral psychologists who specialize in anxiety and OCD. We focus on helping you figure out what your patterns are, and how to change the ones that aren't working for you anymore. In addition to anxiety disorders, we also see patients with ADHD, Autism, and survivors of sexual assault. But don't worry if you're not sure what's wrong - whatever stress or difficulty you're having, we can help you identify it, understand it, and overcome it.

As a licensed social worker/psychotherapist my aim is to create a safe space for you to talk and organize your thoughts. My style is supportive and non-judgmental. I work with adolescents and adults of all ages. As every case is unique, I practice one-on-one psychotherapy informed by an array of modalities. I am highly attuned to the needs of the individual person and encourage gentle exploration of one's current behaviors and how they may be influenced by one's past. In addition to psychotherapy, I practice psychoanalysis, which can afford a deeper exploration.
If you experience anxiety, depression, relationship issues, ADHD, OCD, or other emotional and behavioral difficulties, we're here to help. Behavioral Health of New York (BHNY) founded by Dr. Mitchell S. Levy, is a private practice of PhD-level psychologists who specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based therapy methods backed by science. Many clients achieve significant progress with CBT in a relatively short period of time. Other clients benefit from interpersonal or relationship-oriented therapy. When we work together, we’ll break down your patterns of thinking and behaviors that cause challenges and hold you back from enjoying life. You’ll develop the skills to feel better and create positive change. Most clients find our approach a very refreshing change from their former therapy.

My practice focuses on helping people who want to get to know themselves better and change repetitive life patterns to improve their personal and academic lives. Many of the students, faculty, and administrators I work with have had anxiety, ADHD, or a history of trauma or loss that they need help working through in order to achieve at their optimal level and enjoy life more. I try to create a peaceful office environment in which to explore yourself and learn techniques for managing life better, inside and out. I believe the therapy relationship itself is important to experience so that you can connect with yourself in a different way. Growth comes from curiosity and freedom to express yourself in an empathetic, engaging, and knowledgeable setting. I invite you to visit my website for more detailed information.
