My history of working in school settings from pre-K through college has shaped my approach to therapy, which is rooted in the belief that counseling is a learning process. From the foundation of a strong client/counselor partnership, clients can build skills and gain understanding to foster better relationships with both themselves and others, while also developing a more intentional and effective process for responding to stressors and challenges. Together, we can collaborate to clarify your goals for counseling and develop an individualized plan that balances support, insight, and skill building. "You're like a listening Yoda," a patient said to me. I have 30+ years of experience making people of all ages and backgrounds and orientations feel comfortable. My patients, colleagues, supervisors and clients have come from nearly every country, represent every socio-economic class, and every aspect of the rainbow in terms of gender identity and sexuality, and have ranged in age from 5 years old to almost 80 years old! Do You Struggle With The 3 P’s? * Pressure * Procrastination * Perfectionism Are you trapped in negative thought-spirals? Improving your well-being starts with how you speak to yourself, and shifting your thinking toward supportive thoughts. Therapy is a process of breaking those patterns. It's also a exploratory process of exploration. It can be short-term or long-term. Often times the initial presenting problem is connected to underlying and enduring deeper themes. We can also be playful and tap into creativity in session. Patients who enjoy music, pop culture, and other creative modalities tell me they appreciate their use as a tool in treatment. People also like learning about the mind in general and theirs in particular. **None of us changes hearing something just once or saying something just once. It takes some repetition to identify, understand, acknowledge, and release.** In-person sessions available in Uptown/Carrollton New Orleans. Remote sessions available for Louisiana and New York Residents,

Life is full of transitional moments; changes that impact how we think, how we function, and how we connect to the world. Let us work together to build a positive connection between how you feel, where you are, and where you see yourself. Short-term, goal-oriented therapy is available. Or, perhaps you would prefer to delve deeper into the who, the why, and the how of things. With either modality, you can expect to be met with respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.
I am Counseling psychologist, and I've worked in college mental health for the last five years, first as a therapist at Syracuse University's counseling center, then at Rhode Island School of Design's counseling center. I both provided therapy, and helped train others to provide therapy. I love working with students and helping them adjust to being at a university, figuring out how to cope with the demands of college, and find their way in the university system to make sure that they have access to not just tools for their mental health- but access to academic supports, financial assistance, and resources to help them work with their faculty members. I'm a generalist- I work with people across a wide range of issues and identities, and so I really try to tailor what I'm doing to fit what YOU need. I also have specialised training in LGBTQ+ mental health and treatment for Trauma. I believe that we are whole people, and our identities, culture, and access to resources are important to understand, respond to and support in therapy. I both work to help you understand your experience so you can respond in new and creative ways, and also know and use pragmatic strategy-based approaches that give you concrete ideas how to take the next step. If that sounds like a fit for you, reach out and I'm happy to speak more!

I approach each individual with curiosity & acceptance. I see my clients as the real experts on themselves- each in the process of navigating the world & learning as they go. I'm actively non-judgmental & find it most therapeutic to provide clients with a safe context in which to explore thoughts & feelings, gain insight, & problem solve in a lasting & empowering manner. I actively listen & offer feedback, reflection, levity, education &, depending upon the issue at hand, more directive advice. The needs of each client naturally vary. I believe it is important to meet people where they are, rather than to apply a specific modality or approach. One of my guiding principles is to "Assume Nothing." I find this allows a clients most pressing needs to unfold more naturally. One of my specialty areas is the human-animal bond. Companion animals play an important role in our individual lives and as members of the family. Issues that can be a focus of treatment: loss of a pet, pets and divorce, children and pets, illness of a pet, emotional support animals, animal advocacy.
