In practice for 30+ years, I offer a warm, collaborative approach. We will work together to heal wounds, resolve symptoms and overcome barriers that keep you from living your full potential. Depending on your needs and wishes, our work together can involve learning new skills, exploring past hurts, accessing your inner wisdom, harnessing your creativity to develop more effective life strategies, and all the while deepening your self-understanding. I work with individuals who are 16+ years. While I have a wide ranging practice, I have particular interest and expertise in working with depression, anxiety and stress, young adults, sexual orientation, gender identity, clients with chronic health concerns, life transitions, creative blocks, and family of origin issues.

Life experiences, anxiety, loss, relationship challenges, and life transitions can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and the lives we want. I believe that healing happens when people feel heard, understood, and empowered to reclaim authorship of their lives. I view counseling as a collaborative process that honors people's lived experiences and capacity for growth. I do my best to create an affirming and compassionate space where clients can explore their experiences, uncover strengths, make meaning of their stories, and take actions toward living lives that feel more authentic and aligned with their values. My counseling approach is integrative and informed by critical ecological perspectives, drawing from person-centered, narrative, cognitive behavioral, and existential therapies. I care deeply about fairness, justice, and understanding how the systems and environments around us shape mental health and well-being.

I offer therapy that's largely integrative, pulling from several different theories and adapting my approach to best fit the identities, needs, and style of each client. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment in which my clients can feel both supported and challenged. Having a space to share vulnerably and work on personal growth and healing is a great opportunity, but it's also very hard work! Since I ask my clients to show up vulnerably, I try to do the same, bringing my authentic self to the room. I look forward to conversations about how our similarities and differences impact our work. I frequently work with survivors of trauma, provide letters of support for gender affirming healthcare, discuss neurodiversity, and help clients explore their sexual and/or gender identity. I have specialized training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, as well as disordered eating and body image concerns. I work from a non-dieting, health at every size paradigm. I view therapy as a collaborative process, one that depends largely on the relationship built between client and therapist. I offer free, brief phone consultations to discuss goodness of fit and answer any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!

The typical challenges people face are embedded in fear of rejection, loneliness and disconnection - not feeling likable and lovable. Meaningful living can be achieved by acknowledging this fear and acting intentionally to create love, authenticity, and congruence. I believe effective counseling is grounded in a trusting and affirming working alliance. I work from an interpersonal perspective, meaning our professional relationship is the key to a positive and productive experience. Grounding my training in Existential-Humanistic theory, I seek to support your effort to find personal meaning and self-understanding, to explore your lived experience and discover the most genuine you. I offer support to achieve insight and the tools to cultivate purposeful transformation, enabling you to live a meaningful life in the face of uncertainty and potential suffering. We all take turns with suffering; we all take turns with joy. You can feel accomplished and connected; I can help.

“It’s always best to believe in one’s self, but a little help from others can be a great blessing!” I view each person as the main character in their book of life. Each book contains stories of joy, sadness, exploration, struggle, and most importantly, HOPE. My goal to assist in exploring these stories, whether you encounter depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, intersectional struggles, or self-esteem issues...I am especially sensitive to those impacted by LGBTQ issues, religious minorities, activists, uniformed public servants, and those experiencing depression. I utilize a multiculturally sensitive approach, borrowing from ACT, DBT, MBCT, mindfulness, narrative, and solution-focused therapies to develop a collaborative and eclectic style to treatment, tailored to your needs. Cultures all over the world have a common truth: life is suffering. Through therapy, I hope to create a safe and empowering environment to help you withstand and overcome that suffering. I welcome you to reach out to start this journey.

My ideal client is motivated to improve their quality of life and may struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and grief/trauma related issues. They are interested in understanding themselves and cultivating healthy coping strategies to deal with the challenges of our modern world, with the ultimate goal of thriving, not just surviving. They understand that we all have the opportunity to continue growing and want to live a more self-expressed life by identifying and challenging negative and self-limiting thinking patterns. I compassionately support and validate my clients, while also encouraging them to take on the challenges in their life. I have significant experience with mindfulness practices and believe in the power of creativity (writing, music, art) as a therapeutic tool. Most people are settling for less than what their lives can possibly be. I am committed to helping you lead a self-expressed life and to help you see all the ways that you are a gift to yourself and others. I do not have all the answers, but I believe that together we can inspire each other and produce breakthroughs you may not think are possible.

The college years can be some of the most overwhelming — academic pressure, perfectionism, anxiety, homesickness, identity shifts, and the weight of major transitions, often layered on top of experiences you carried here long before. Whatever you're navigating, I'll meet you with directness, honesty, and genuine warmth — and there will likely be some laughter along the way. We'll work toward your goals as a team, with care tailored to you and shaped by an understanding that your background, identity, and lived experience matter deeply. This is a space space, and all are welcome here. I commonly work with students navigating: - Anxiety and perfectionism - Depression - Trauma and past experiences - Chronic illness and chronic pain - Homesickness and life transitions - Identity and self-worth Therapy with me is supportive and nonjudgmental — and direct. Expect to be gently challenged. Together we'll work on dismantling negative core beliefs, shifting unhelpful thought patterns, building healthy boundaries, and finding coping skills that actually fit your life . Our first session is about you. I'll walk you through what to expect and your rights as a client, and you'll have space to ask questions. Building trust and rapport makes the work possible — so we'll begin laying that foundation while I gather some important background. My goal is that when you leave, you feel heard, understood, and genuinely hopeful that growth is possible.

Good mental health is key to thriving in school, maintaining strong relationships, and enjoying life. While medication can be a helpful tool, you may have heard mixed stories and are wondering if it's the right choice for you. Perhaps you were diagnosed with ADHD as a child and managed fine through high school, but now you're struggling to keep up. Or maybe you're already on medication for depression or anxiety, but it no longer seems as effective. You might even be seeking a second opinion on a past diagnosis or looking for a more holistic approach with a provider who truly listens. Whatever you're facing, I’m here to help. Why choose a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)? As board-certified and licensed professionals, PMHNPs are trained to diagnose mental health conditions, provide therapy, and prescribe medication. Nursing has been the most trusted profession for 22 years running, and we are dedicated to putting our patients at the heart of everything we do. That’s why I named my clinic Centered Psychiatry—because your well-being is always our focus. You deserve personalized care from someone who takes the time to understand your story and collaborate with you on a plan that works for you. I believe that a trusting relationship with you is of the utmost importance. During our time together I will work to create an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance so you feel free sharing and exploring whatever is troubling you. My approach is a trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive integration of attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive therapy which emphasizes (1) trusting the client as an expert of their own reality, (2) exploring the patterns through which we come to understand ourselves, others, and the world, and (3) seeking meaningful emotional experiences in a safe therapeutic relationship. I will work to build a supportive, trusting, and safe relationship with you so you can bravely identify and confront the challenges you're facing. Counseling can seem like a daunting task to take on, but it also be incredibly rewarding and life-changing. If this sounds like a journey you would like to begin, then please contact me!
