Our lived experiences shape the world around us and how we interact with it. Therefore, I believe understanding someone’s story is instrumental in any therapeutic process. Therapy is meant to help someone heal, build skills, break out of patterns, and gain further insights into oneself. It’s an investment in yourself so that you can have a future not burdened in anguish. As someone who identifies as multiracial, I have firsthand knowledge about the intersectionality of race and culture. I honor each person in front of me and foster a space that is safe where healing can take place. I use a strengths-based approach and pull from different evidence-based modalities such as DBT, CBT, and CPS. Treatment is individualized for the person, not to fit in a box. I have several years working as a clinician within a variety of health care settings with the most recent being with adolescents and adults in acute care settings. In addition, I have experience working with first responders and healthcare professionals.

Therapy can help us discover new parts of ourselves, challenge barriers to growth, and develop new skills to create our own paths. We as individuals hold these strengths within us already, but at times life can lead us to believe we are lacking. My hope is to help you discover these strengths! My style is direct yet gentle and I speak from an honest heart. I will often bring humor into the session, as life can funny at times or we may just need a bit of laughter to get through the challenges. I pull from various models but most often utilize Narrative Therapy, CBT, and mindfulness based techniques. Through a combination of these modalities, I work to help clients re-write unhealthy narratives and adjust patterns or ways of thinking that reinforce these inaccurate self-views. I believe in assisting clients in better understanding their own emotions and how their bodies can communicate these emotions. Once we are able to understand this, we can slow down and create new habits that are more effective in meeting our needs and managing symptoms.

Hi, I’m Sara Carmona (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Oregon and Colorado and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Therapist (PMH-C). I’ve been providing mental health support since 2011, with a focus on perinatal and reproductive mental health. I work with people across the full span of their reproductive lives—from menarche to menopause. This includes support for fertility challenges, pregnancy and postpartum, birth trauma, abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, birth trauma, and postpartum psychosis recovery. I work with individuals navigating the spectrum of premenstrual mood disorders and perimenopause/ menopause-related changes. My approach is collaborative and relational. I believe healing happens through support, connection, conversation and the sharing of practical tools that make a difference in daily life. I draw from evidence-based therapeutic interventions while centering your lived experience, strengths, and goals. Together, we’ll explore what’s hard, build insight, and identify steps that feel manageable and meaningful. I practice from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist framework and value the unique identities and lived experiences of each person I work with. River City Counseling LLC welcomes individuals of all cultures, races, abilities, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities. I am open to coordinating care with your medical team, family, or other individuals you'd like to involve in your counseling services.

Being part of the interconnected natural world, we thrive in connection, and without connection, we wither. In our work together we will collaborate in understanding what makes you come alive and wither, to look for ways to get unstuck and make meaning of your emotions, reactivity, and suffering. I believe that individuals and families can tap into their inner strength to repair and grow new resilience with guidance and support. My role is to restore balance, build communication, and provide support to help you create space to learn and integrate new skills with new perspectives as they thrive in connection. I help adults, couples, and families who feel trapped in a cycle of loneliness and disconnection, cut off from themselves, and unhappy with the trajectory of their relationships and life goals. I have also been an instructor and lecturer at various universities and colleges for over 12 years and understand the unique stress students face in situations such as navigating relationships within student cohort communities, dealing with out-of-touch professors and administration, facing non-exclusive environments, and dealing with staff and student health services. I prioritize confidentiality and privacy, helping you access available services with confidence and make informed decisions about your college experience without regretting the sacrifices you make to attend college. I have over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist and dance movement therapist, specializing in treating anxiety, depression, loneliness, intimacy, communication problems, learning differences, self-esteem, health issues, life transitions, grief & loss, professional/work issues, and family and relationship stress and estrangement, ensuring comprehensive support for your unique needs. My work involves creating a safe, neutral space where we can engage in open dialogue and work systematically with empathy toward healing, growth, and solutions, guiding you through a clear, collaborative process. I enjoy working with people who are nervous about beginning therapy or have never participated in couples or family estrangement counseling.

(EEC Inc.)'s Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) Treatment for Stability and Wellness Clinical Program is a behavioral health program offering outpatient psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups. Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) is a specialized psychotherapy treatment that incorporates equines into the therapeutic environment. It is a form of animal-assisted therapy (AAT) that integrates the human–animal bond and relationship with a horse as part of treatment and recovery in psychotherapy. EAMH treatment is an interactive process in which a licensed mental health professional working with or as an appropriately credentialed equine professional partners with suitable equine(s) to address psychotherapy goals set forth by the mental health professional and the client. Horses are beautiful and novel creatures that may help reduce stigma of psychotherapy, reduce barriers of those who do not do well or do not want to participate in office-based therapy. In turn, they may help to normalize the therapy process through in-person physical interaction and presence with horses. I am a board-certified psychiatrist dedicated to improving my patients' well-being through personalized treatment plans. I completed both medical school and residency training at Oregon Health & Science University. When meeting with my patients, I adopt a holistic approach, considering the biological, psychological, and social factors that influence their mental health. My strategy integrates therapy and medications, as needed, to address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and relational challenges. My goal is to help you better understand your experiences and develop lifelong skills to achieve your personal goals long after our collaboration ends. Initially, I follow a consultative model where I spend 2 to 3 visits getting to know you. Then, through collaboration, we develop an appointment schedule that works to meet your needs. I typically conduct weekly therapy sessions to provide ongoing support and care for patients aged 18 and older. For referrals please fill out the form on my website.

I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, burnout, compassion fatigue, and socioeconomical, environmental and climate concerns. I work with individuals that want to put the work into improving the quality of their lives and finding balance within their core values, beliefs, self-worth, interpersonal relationships, work/college, leisure time, time outdoors, and lifestyle. I work with individuals on identifying the disruption in these areas of their lives that come from stressors, distorted ways of thinking, unhealthy habits and behaviors, isolation, and a disengagement from the natural world. I specialize in CBT and ecotherapy walk and talk model. CBT is goal oriented and focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thinking and behavior. Ecotherapy, also known as nature based therapy, utilizes nature to benefit from its healing capabilities. I integrate the two approaches which allows for increased growth and insight to find balance.
