Hi, I’m Janet. You may be overwhelmed, shutdown, struggling with deep moral distress and existential dread, or stuck in AuDHD burnout, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I specialize in supporting people deeply connected to non-human animals and nature and those experiencing AuDHD burnout. Other areas of expertise are chronic illness, medical trauma, and sociopolitical moral distress. I am compassionate, warm, collaborative, and prioritize building a safe trusting relationship with you. I explicitly recognize structural injustices in my work and practice anti-oppressively. We can support your nervous system, clarify what is important to you, and help you move - at your pace - toward what matters most to you.
Our areas of expertise include parenting challenges, attention and focus difficulties (including ADHD), anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, couples and marriage counseling, and issues related to retirement and life transitions. We take a goal-oriented, solution-focused approach, working collaboratively with clients to develop practical strategies that foster growth and well-being.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re already dealing with stress, anxiety, or big life transitions. I work with students and young adults who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next steps. My approach is warm, supportive, and practical. Together, we’ll focus on helping you better understand yourself, manage stress, and build confidence in your decisions and relationships. I have experience working closely with students and families as a school counselor, and I understand the unique pressures that come with academics, relationships, and life changes. I offer a free initial consultation and accept insurance through Headway to make getting started as easy as possible.
Deciding to look for help was hard to begin with and finding the right helper seems even more difficult, we know. Hi! I'm from Pittsburgh and proud to be practicing in my home town. Therapy ranges from directive to less structured approaches. Directive approaches involve identifying a specific problem and starting interventions including skill building for the client. Less directive therapy involves self exploration and understanding our symptoms in an interpersonal context. These two approaches can be combined, tailored to the client. The client's responsibility is committing to therapy, and showing up weekly at the designated time, and engaging in the process. While the therapist is an expert in psychology, the client is an expect in themselves and is ultimately the source of change and improvement. I see myself as a guide, helping the client see things they may have missed or avoided, and making connections that wouldn't otherwise be obvious. The process is collaborative and frequently rewarding.
If you're seeking to feel better in your body, free your mind from worries, break free from an endless battle with food, or simply strive for positive changes in your life, you're already on your way. I'm prepared to assist you in taking the necessary steps to see meaningful change, utilizing the best that research in the field of mental health has to offer. All you have to do is take the leap. Choosing to embark on change can be a terrifying step toward a better life, but know that you're not alone, and I'm here to help you take that leap.
