Do you experience hypervigilance? panic? overwhelm? avoidance? unexplained physical symptoms? Many of my clients didn't realize that their symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and relationship struggles stem from trauma. Trauma isn't just something soldiers experience — it encompasses so many different life experiences. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to get at the root of your symptoms, rather than putting a bandaid on them for a temporary fix. I'm trained in EMDR 2.0 and the Four Blinks Flash technique, and I use advanced EMDR software to work effectively with clients online. I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for clients ready to go deeper when talk therapy has reached its limits, along with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and ADHD-informed therapy. I've worked extensively with people in the LGBTQ+ community. If you're interested in working together, reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consultation — we can decide if we're a good fit. You are making an amazing and brave step in your healing journey!

I like to work with children, teens, and young adults with mental and behavioral health disorders after being emersed in the public school system for the past decade. Building a rapport and seeing my patients' confidence grow as their condition improves is my 'why'. Helping children and young adults learn how to recognize, manage, and cope with their symptoms as they progress into adulthood to live a peaceful, meaningful life is my goal.
On the surface, things are going well, but you've felt anxious and constantly focused on making other's around you happy for a long time. Always striving to be perfect, yet feeling like others are disappointed in you or nothing is done right. You are not alone and you deserve to take care of yourself to. Whether you just experience anxiety, or you notice parts of you that strive for perfection and wanting to make other's happy, I am here for you. I help women in their 20s and 30s feel empowered and take steps toward healing themselves.
My name is Avory Billman. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Strong Foundations. After 40+ years of experience working with depression, anxiety, and stress management, I continue to find deep gratification in helping people relieve suffering and transform their lives. If sexuality is part of your problem, I am one of few professionals certified as a sex therapist, supervisor, and fellow by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. I work exclusively with teletherapy, which I find to be as effective as in-person sessions. You can reach me best at robsch77@gmail.com
I work really well with "type A" people with anxiety - those who are pragmatic and practical and used to getting stuff done, but now are finding it harder to make decisions and get as much done as they used to. I also work well with people who are accused of being "robotic" or "without feelings." Couples have claimed to actually enjoy working with me for premarital counseling, or figuring out how to deal with their parents/siblings/friends who might not be in favor of their match. In my office I try to speak plainly and say what needs to be said - you won't feel like you need to watch your language or censor yourself in any way.

I thoroughly enjoy working young adult clients. This stage of life is filled with change, exploration of self, and forging of independence -- this can also mean that it's not always easy to ask for help, and a degree of hesitancy exists to allow even the most loving family members and friends into their worlds. I regularly work with clients that are struggling with major life transitions, depression, anxiety, or eating disorders. My clients are often seeking safety, understanding, and freedom from their negative thoughts. The foundation of my approach is person-centered and humanistic. I believe in the healing nature of the therapeutic relationship and a non-judgmental space to process life experiences.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with 15 years of experience helping people develop insight, knowledge and self-compassion. I specialize in treating anxiety, trauma, substance use, relationship conflict and grief. I am a national consultant for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Substance Use Disorders, certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Dual Recovery and skilled in therapies for those with abuse histories (e.g., STAIR, Seeking Safety). My doctoral training in cognitive neuroscience laid the foundation for my understanding of thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Together we will learn how your specific life experiences shape your biology to make you the person you are today. With this understanding we can find tools to reduce suffering and increase meaning in your life. Above all else, I value the human relationship. I believe my most important skill is helping people feel comfortable and build trust in the therapeutic alliance. Please reach out so you can tell me about yourself and your needs.
For close to 20 years, I have worked in the field of mental health and addiction. I have extensive experience working with all disorders from mild to severe and specialize in working with the dual diagnosed (mental health and addictions) population; especially those suffering from mood disorders, anxiety disorders and trauma related issues. I am able to offer guidance and support to not only the client who is suffering but their family and support system as well. I believe that all people are capable of improving their life with hard work, openness and a desire for change. I am passionate about working with individuals that have experienced trauma in their lives and assisting them with rebuilding their lives and finding peace, wholeness and health. I am trained in several modalities; CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction. I have extensive experience facilitating both group and individual counseling and genuinely believe that all people are capable of change if they are willing to work hard and commit to the process.
Psychotherapists in our office offer individual psychotherapy services. Our staff accept major insurances. Some of our staff do not work with insurance and offer out-of-pocket fees on a competitive sliding scale. In addition to being trained and practicing mental health clinicians, our small staff share a background in and passion for the humanities. We believe this influences the way we listen, stay calm and connected in the face of pain, feel familiar and grounding in strange situations, and make room for other things when stuck in a thought or a feeling. First call. Leave a message with your name, phone number, and a few times during the week when you know you can speak privately for up to half an hour with one of our intake coordinators, free of charge. The office for psychotherapy and the humanities is supervised by Dr. Mest, licensed psychologist and teacher.

I have a great passion for helping those struggling with challenges while attending college. My approach in therapy is to work as a team with you to make the discomfort you are going through become more manageable. Your discomfort may not disappear, but I can help you navigate these feelings. I aim to empower you to feel more in control of your response to the struggles of life. I am very solutions focused. In order to feel different, we have to try something different. I offer psychoeducation, suggest different coping skills and will point out the patterns of behavior/choices in your life and how they are impacting you. Through over 20 years of practice I have found that people usually seek therapy because they are experiencing something that is too difficult to bear without additional help and support. Life can seem unjust when bad things happen to good people, or when best efforts are not leading to desired outcomes. These challenges are opportunities for renewal and growth. Especially during a time of crisis or transition, the ability to safely connect and openly share thoughts and feelings, while receiving genuine emotional support, clarifying insights, and effective tools for coping can be truly life changing. This is the gift of therapy. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders (such as OCD, tic disorders, hair pulling, skin picking and hoarding). I use evidence-based treatment models (ERP, HRT, CBT and EMDR). Research tells us that the therapeutic relationship is a critical factor in determining outcomes, so finding a therapist who is right for you is key.
