Therapists for college students near Pittsburgh, PA
My favorite part of helping people is collaborating with my clients. I work together with students to help them reach their goals, get some relief and learn new ways to cope. As a licensed professional counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor, my approach is both nurturing and strengths-based. I believe that every person is unique and has the ability to cope and heal. As your therapist, I will help you strategize to develop treatment goals and offer warm support as we get you there. In doing so, I primarily use IFS (Internal Family Systems- I’m Level 2-trained), but my approach can also be eclectic. I support people with anxiety, depression, anger, self-esteem issues, family conflict, substance use disorders, OCD, trauma and so much more. I am non-judgmental, supportive and have a gentle style. If you would like to hear more about my approach and to discuss whether we can work together, I’d love to hear from you.
I use hypnotherapy as a means to help people heal from the inside out. After spending 20 years practicing as a physician healing patient's bodies, I now focus on the mind and mental health. Every human has the responsibility and the ability to love and care for themselves as much as they care for others in the world. Good mental health is the key to good physical health and to living a full, engaging life. I help people who suffer from negative self-talk, negative self-image and teach people how to find their true selves beneath all the distracting chatter that tends to go on in our heads. Inner freedom therapy's technique works well for anxiety or physical symptoms or pain that worsens at times of stress. It also works well to help you stop unwanted habits. I offer a free consultation and discussion with a link on my website, or give me a call or email to meet and discuss if you are a good match for Inner Freedom Therapy programs.
On the surface, things are going well, but you've felt anxious and constantly focused on making other's around you happy for a long time. Always striving to be perfect, yet feeling like others are disappointed in you or nothing is done right. You are not alone and you deserve to take care of yourself to. Whether you just experience anxiety, or you notice parts of you that strive for perfection and wanting to make other's happy, I am here for you. I help women in their 20s and 30s feel empowered and take steps toward healing themselves.
We are a network of independent psychotherapists who support clients during grief and life transitions of all kinds. In our practice, we acknowledge and honor the unique journey of each individual. Our story began as colleagues at a local bereavement center where we facilitated peer support groups for children and adults, at the center and in the community. We shared a deep appreciation for the mission to provide a safe and supportive environment for grieving families. We are committed to developing a trusting alliance with our clients as we view the relationship between client and therapist as integral to successful psychotherapy. Our clients often come to us feeling vulnerable or lost. We create a safe and caring space to hold hope for our clients as we work collaboratively toward the lives they desire.
My offer to you something is simple and steady: a space where you do not have to perform, impress, or hold it all together. A space where you can exhale. I am especially drawn to working with people in transition especially college students standing on the edge of adulthood and professionalism. Transitions can shake your confidence. They can stir up old shame, old stories, old fears about not being enough. But they are also sacred turning points. They are invitations. Together, we will slow down and tune in. We will examine the narratives you’ve inherited and gently decide which ones no longer serve you. My hope for you is not that you leave therapy “better," but that you leave more fully yourself. I believe healing happens when someone sits with you long enough for you to remember your own strength. I will meet you with depth, honesty, humor and warmth. I will challenge you when needed, celebrate you when earned, and hold the mirror steady when you forget who you are. You do not have to worry alone. Everyone has a story. I look forward to hearing yours.

Do you feel unsatisfied with the path you’re on? I specialize in work with college students and twenty-somethings who are navigating new life stages and want to learn more about themselves. Maybe you’re adjusting to starting/leaving college, or a new job. Or you’re looking to set boundaries as you gain independence from your family. I’m here to help you bridge the gap between your life now and what you want your life to look like, while also giving new meaning to the experiences that led you to where you are. I not only bring educational & professional experience to my practice, but also empathy & realness that comes from confronting my own personal challenges. Anxiety, self-doubt, low-self esteem, perfectionism, job dissatisfaction & relationship issues are common struggles of a quarterlifer as you navigate transitions in your 20s. Together we can separate those problems from who you are as a person, learn about the role they play in your life, develop ways to cope, & move forward towards your ideal life. I also work with those pursuing a career as a therapist. Whether you're a psychology or social work student considering grad school, you're a grad school student adjusting to your internship, or you're wondering if a career as a therapist is for you - I have years of experience helping students navigate the field and find a path that feels right for them.

Most importantly, during every counseling session I strive for my clients to take away something new or something that can utilize outside of counseling in everyday life.
As a young adult, you often wonder what can be done to help yourself feel better. You have tried many things yet there has been little to no lasting improvement. Your personality has changed, you have challenges with relationships, their interests have decreased and you worry that things might get worse. You know that you have great potential to do great things but the way things are going, your future looks bleak. Seeking help can be scary, because you want to make sure that you have someone but feel scared about taking the risk of letting anyone in. Sometimes along our journeys we learn ways of thinking and feeling that aren’t most helpful to us later on. I offer an opportunity to consider unlearning what isn’t serving us and to find new ways of thinking. Other times, we’d all just benefit from an extra layer of support; time set aside that’s all ours. Most of all, the work we do will allow you to feel some relief, comfort, connection, the opportunity to experience positive feelings, and sit with the hard ones. I offer therapy to adults struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, obsessive thoughts, trauma, grief, career challenges, and motherhood. I specialize in treating disordered eating and body image concerns. I work extensively with runners. I practice a holistic approach and am skilled in meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and coping techniques. I understand that the best therapy happens when you and your therapist are a great fit. I offer a compassionate, thoughtful, and effective approach. I believe in the healing power of animals and my bulldog, Olive, joins us for sessions.
Hi, I'm Dr. Annie Moten. Since earning my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University, I have approached therapy as a collaborative journey, walking alongside my clients to help them understand their experiences without judgment. My goal is to support individuals in creating a life that acknowledges both their pain and their potential for growth. I strive to build trust through straightforwardness, kindness, irreverence, and humor, creating a space that is both safe and empowering. Drawing on my extensive DBT training and lived experience, I foster emotional containment and autonomy. I also incorporate creative outlets. Our approach at Better Life Associates is active and collaborative. We believe that a strong working alliance with our patients is critical to help achieve emotional insights in treatment that lead to positive and lasting change. We also help identify patterns of behavior that hold individuals back from leading a better and more fulfilling life. Whether you are seeking in-person treatment in Long Island, NY or teletherapy in NY, NJ, or PA, I'd be delighted to hear from you. I have limited therapy session times currently available in my schedule, so let's set up an initial preliminary call soon to discuss how we can work together.

Taking the first step on your healing journey can be difficult. Whether you're seeking therapy to process trauma, navigate difficult relationships, or to overcome life’s daily challenges, I'm happy you're here exploring your options and taking that first step. Throughout my career, I've worked with clients experiencing a wide range of these challenges including sexual and physical abuse, family conflict, relationship struggles, intimacy challenges, identity work, anxiety and depression. I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Finding a therapist can feel exhausting so when you're ready, I hope you will reach out with any questions to see if I'm the therapist for you.
