Therapists for college students near 77005
Shine Through, LLC
Hi! I am excited that you have decided to reach out for help. My name is Dr. T. Navigating through life is already difficult and the pressure that comes with being a college student can make things harder. I too had to go through this stage in life. There are many things that have changed since I was a college student, however, there are many similarities between our experiences. Worrying about your grades, peer pressure, drugs and alcohol, issues at home with parents/caregivers, siblings and other family members, and your identity of simply trying to find out who you are is overwhelming. All these things can be scary, confusing, and even frustrating. The good news is that you don't have to go through the process alone. I can help and you can find comfort in knowing that what is said in my office, stays in office. As a professional I have had the opportunity to work in the military, daycare facilities, a community health center, a methadone clinic, parish jail, elementary and high school settings and private practice. My experience has prepared me to deal with a variety of issues and concerns while using an eclectic approach. I have gained an understanding that there is no cookie cutter way for every person. Everyone is unique even if they share similar experiences. Personally, I have dealt with family issues such as child abuse and neglect, psychological illnesses, drug and alcohol addictions, adoption, crimes consisting of theft and murder, and losing family members to the state's system. I have also had the experience of managing life while being the wife of an airman and a soldier in the US Army. These life experiences remind me that nobody asks for things to go wrong in their lives. It also helps me to remain humble because at any moment it could be me. Celebrate yourself in taking the first step to a new life that gains you the freedom you deserve. Keep in mind that although I am the professional you are the expert on your life. Together we will use your hope to effect change.

Are you tired of overthinking everything—relationships, school, work, finances, and what’s coming next in life? Do you find yourself always thinking ahead, planning details, and trying to stay on top of everything… to the point that it feels exhausting? Maybe your mind rarely slows down. You replay conversations, overanalyze decisions, and put pressure on yourself to do things the “right” way. You may find yourself feeling anxious about the future or wondering whether you’re somehow falling behind. Internally, it can feel exhausting to always be this “on.” If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Many highly capable people feel overwhelmed by the pressure to keep it all together while quietly struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, and emotional exhaustion. And often, it’s not simply a time management issue—it’s the mental and emotional load of carrying too much for too long. I specialize in helping individuals manage overthinking, overwhelm, anxiety, and perfectionism. Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware, and driven, but feel mentally stretched and unable to fully enjoy where they are in life. Therapy with me is collaborative, supportive, and grounded. Together, we’ll work to untangle anxious thought patterns, quiet the constant pressure you place on yourself, and create more space for clarity, confidence, and ease—without lowering your standards or stepping away from what matters most to you. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Most of the people I work with reach out while they’re still trying to make sense of what they’re experiencing—they just know they’re tired of feeling constantly “on” or stuck in cycles of pressure and overthinking. Please reach out today to start your care. I’m happy to answer any initial questions and help you determine whether we’d be a good fit. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you in feeling more grounded, more present, and more like yourself again—so life can start to feel a little lighter.

Does it feel like the "best years of your life" are actually filled with more anxiety, academic pressure, and self-doubt than you expected? Maybe you’ve noticed that your use of alcohol or marijuana—initially a way to relax or fit in—has started to take up more space in your life than you intended. If you’re searching for relief from the weight of depression, stress, or shame, I’m here to help you find a sustainable way forward. I am passionate about helping college students and young adults navigate the unique pressures of campus life, identity discovery, and relationship burnout. My goal is to develop a genuine connection with you, creating a non-judgmental space where we can transform "surviving" into intentional living. Whether you are working through past trauma or trying to break a cycle of substance use that no longer serves you, we will work together to reclaim your time, energy, and sense of self. I utilize an eclectic therapeutic toolkit tailored to your specific needs, including CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, and EMDR. These aren’t just buzzwords; they are practical tools designed to help you see your own strength, value, and worth. We won’t just talk about the problems; we’ll work on mending life’s stressors so you can build a life filled with meaningful identity and intentional relationships. Why Virtual? Between labs, internships, and social lives, your time is your most valuable asset. I provide high-quality, private teletherapy that fits into your gaps between classes. Virtual therapy allows you to receive support from the comfort and privacy of your own space—no travel time or waiting rooms required. You've taken the first step just by being here. Do you feel disconnected from yourself, unsure of who you truly are beneath the roles you play? Do you find yourself avoiding difficult emotions, turning to substances, food, or other behaviors to cope? Are your relationships strained by unspoken needs, patterns of self-sabotage, or difficulty with vulnerability? You’re not alone. Healing begins when you stop running from yourself and start facing what’s been buried. I believe in the transformative power of connection—with yourself, your body, and others. Together, we can uncover the strength and clarity already within you. I have worked in addiction and mental health treatment centers for four years. This experience has taught me to help others connect with emotional wounds and build coping skills that empower authenticity. Through somatic work, cognitive reframing, and deep exploration, I support you in finding your strength, values, and voice. I believe in the power of baby steps and authenticity. Healing isn’t easy and may feel impossible, but I’m here to support you every step of the way. I’d love to get to know you, understand your story, and learn what brings you to therapy. Everyone’s journey is unique, and together, we can create a path toward healing that feels right for you.
