At Counsel Connections our mission is to help you connect to your best self, which will result in healthier relationships, attainable goals and life long fulfillment. We want to partner with you in this journey called life and help navigate the unexpected trials, transitions, and challenges. Life can be difficult sometime so let us help connect you to the life you were meant to live.
I work with individuals and families to resolve past issues, to obtain a sense of peace and control over their current experience, and look to the future with hope and excitement. I have 11 years of experience with family life-transitions including infertility, parenting, relationships, divorce. As I walk alongside individuals, we conquer identity development issues, adjusting to college, divorce, and other issues facing us across our life. I am credentialed as a telemental health counselor, meaning we can create lasting change from a distance. I specialize in treating individuals who experience depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and loss, and relationship challenges. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia and Texas, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Board Certified Telemental Health Counselor with eleven years of experience providing counseling services for adolescents, adults, and families.
I collaborate with you to assist you in achieving your personal, therapeutic goals. Along the way, I focus on supporting you on your life journey from a strengths-based perspective. In order to change, you need to acknowledge what you do well, which we can discover together. It is important to notice the positive aspects of life while also addressing the things you wish to change. In my practice, I use evidence-based interventions (CBT, IFS-informed and expressive arts) and trauma-informed mindfulness practices. I have a background in psycho-education (to offer understanding of why we do what we do and skills for meaningful change), somatic (body) awareness, and a certification in spirituality integrated psychotherapy, which I draw on to assist you in living congruently and authentically in the life you are called to live.

“I have learned now that while those who speak about one’s miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more.” - Clive Staples Lewis Beginning the process of therapy can be intimidating, overwhelming, and scary. I completely understand and have been where you are. Sitting in silence only prolongs the inevitable. Trying to resolve the problem with the help of a friend or loved one eases the burden temporarily but you may not get to the core. Working with a trusted therapist, you begin to understand your deeper thought processes, the ineffective loops you’re likely stuck in, and the fear-based thoughts holding you back. I help people struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relational conflicts. I begin where you stand now. I move slowly, gently, and respectfully towards the goals we create together. My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma, and Systemic Family Therapy. Some of my past experiences include working with individuals and couples in several private practice locations over the years, an inpatient drug/alcohol addiction treatment center, and at a U.S. Air Force base helping military members and their families. I also worked as a mental health counselor in a close-security prison for 3 ½ years helping male inmates struggling with mental health issues. A few fun facts about me: I spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and have lived in multiple countries and states. I've been married to my beautiful bride for over 20 years and we are empty nesters (if you don't count our 4 pets)!

I strive to provide a warm and safe space where patients can feel comfortable sharing without fear of judgment. My goal is to help my patients reflect on their values so that they can work towards what it means to be their "best self." Hi, My name is Heather and I have been working as an individual and family therapist for over 10 years. Through my professional experiences, I have found a love for working with younger adult clients and currently work with many undergraduate and graduate college student. I enjoy my work in helping to identify what isn't working for clients in their individual lives or in their relationships and finding alternative ways of thinking and responding that support mental wellness. My experience is is mostly in the areas of symptoms commonly experienced by those struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD. I work mainly with cognitive models of therapy and am trained in EMDR, and have experience with other theories of psychology that I interweave into my practice, depending on what clients needs are and what they respond positively to. Ultimately I think the connection between therapist and client is the most important part of the therapeutic relationship and I truly enjoy getting to know my clients on a personal level through the clinical work we engage in. I'd appreciate your consideration in your searches for a therapist to work with.

I graduated from The University of Georgia in 2011 with my masters in counseling; I worked as a staff therapist, suicide prevention coordinator, and disability services coordinator at Georgia Southern University and East Georgia State College respectively before going into private practice. I'm passionate about helping college students as they juggle demands and make major relationship and career decisions - it is a unique and overwhelming stage of life. I'm located near Charleston where I'm offering sessions via telehealth to GA & SC residents. Counseling can help improve communication between loved ones, support individuals adjusting to major life transitions, or develop coping skills to better manage emotions that have become distressing. I'm grateful you had the courage to explore counseling. Life is stressful at times and we can all use a safe place to receive support and feedback. It is my belief that each person has inherent value, and my goal is to encourage individuals to see their worth and facilitate them in making decisions they can reflect on with peace.
College can be a wild mix of freedom and stress... with friend drama, missing home but wanting independence, figuring out what you want to do with your life, financial pressure, loneliness when friend groups shift, and the everyday weight of adult responsibilities starting to pile up. It’s a lot to carry, and it makes sense if you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or unsure how to handle it all. And then, when you’re finally ready to reach out for support, finding a therapist can feel like another full-time assignment. Scrolling through endless profiles feels a little like online dating... you’re reading way too many bios, everyone sounds kind of the same, and you’re left wondering who you’ll actually click with. Add in the stress of costs, schedules, and trying to figure out if they’ll really get what you’re going through, and it’s exhausting before you even start. My goal is to make that step less overwhelming and give you a space where you don’t have to perform, pretend, or have it all figured out.
