It takes courage and self-compassion to embrace vulnerability. As a therapist working with children, adolescents, and young adults, I strive to create a haven of unconditional positive regard that welcomes and values the whole person. My therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centered and attachment-based theories. I emphasize authentic, caring, empathetic, supportive, and collaborative connections. If you're navigating complex and challenging thoughts, feelings, or life experiences, I invite you to continue your journey of exploration and self-discovery with me. Together, we can explore and adjust pathways to develop safe and secure connections with yourself and others. I believe that healing, growth, and change are possible for everyone, both from within ourselves and through experiencing a genuine sense of belonging. Through connection, my hope is to invite and encourage a space for us to explore in depth the underlying challenges that may be causing current pain and stress. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specializing in Children's and Adolescent Counseling. I have five years of experience working with children and adolescents in the mental health field, working as a registered behavior technician (RBT) at an ABA clinic, a Family Case Manager at the Indianapolis Department of Child Services, and a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist in an elementary school setting. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, young professionals, and adults experiencing interpersonal intricacies, life transitions, executive functioning difficulties, self-esteem and self-image issues, and multicultural identity exploration and formation. I integrate a variety of theoretical orientations in sessions depending on each person's specific needs, such as narrative therapy, internal family systems, cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, and attachment theory. I work under the direct clinical supervision of Drew Phillips, LMFT, and the clinical direction of Meg McLeroy, LMFT.
Trauma and pain from past and present experiences can stop you in your tracks, leaving you stuck in the same patterns, of thinking, feeling and behaving that eventually lead to building a life of obligation, duty and fear rather than one of fulfillment, meaning and connection. But with a little help, you can pause, learn tools, gain insights and figure out where and how you need to change direction. You are not responsible for everything that has happened to you AND you are responsible for making meaning from the life you are living. How you do this depends on whom you believe yourself to be. Our work will help you to heal YOU. I understand the connection between empowerment and recovery and believe our choices can change our lives. My work includes: trauma survivors, PTSD, depression, anxiety, serious mental illness, substance use and general/social stressors. My clients include : therapists, all genders, LGBTQ, veterans, African Americans, and diverse races/ethnicities. I have nearly 10 years of practice experience, using multiple approaches to help move you from where you are to where you would like to be. I look forward to our work together.
Therapy is a journey into yourself. It is choosing to step forward into growth rather than shy back into what is safe and comfortable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. This process of self-discovery isn’t easy, but certainly worth it! My approach to counseling is that of being direct, honest, and straightforward. I work hard to balance that with care, compassion, and empathy. I will push you, but not past your limits. At times it may feel as if I am pushing you past your limits but that is because often times we aren’t able to see our true potential.
I have advocated for and worked with youth and young adults for several years. I have experience in stress management, anxiety, depression, social skill development and college and career planning. I work collaboratively with clients to foster emotional wellbeing and personal growth. With experience in both therapeutic and educational settings, I work with students, families, and adults to create a safe, supportive environment where they can thrive. I am also a Certified School Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor who provides both individual and group counseling services. Using an integrative and solution-focused approach, I help individuals build resilience, develop effective coping strategies, and work towards meaningful change. Whether in therapy or school counseling, my goal is to empower clients to navigate their unique journeys with confidence!
Compassionate, experienced Atlanta therapists to help you end struggles with anxiety, depression, relationships or identity and achieve a better life. Our therapists are all queer-affirming and offer a safe space for clients.
Everyone has a story to tell. The way I see it, life is made of the stories we tell ourselves and the stories we tell others. Trauma, depression, anxiety, and substances can influence and interrupt our story, but if we are mindful about who we are and who we want to be, we can put those occurrences in their proper place. They can exist as something that we went through rather than something that defines us. Everyone holds the power to be the person they want to be, no matter what their past, no matter their present. My job is to assist you in creating the present you want for yourself, so you can build the future you deserve. I work with people of all genders, and sexualities. I aim to help people who’ve been traumatized by events and experiences, as well as those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or recovering from abuse, whether it be from another person, substances, or alcohol. I’d be honored to work with you as you examine and explore yourself and your surroundings in order to write your own story the way you want it to be.
Anxiety, stress, fear, depression. All these words may describe the way you feel stuck right now, how do you get out? Making sense of our life experiences can be a little difficult for us, but I am here to help you find out what is getting in the way and what we can do about it. As a licensed and trained DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) Psychotherapist, I practice what I have found to be the most evidence based, effective, and personally meaningful approaches to help you exactly where you are, right now. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship/social issues, life transition, behavioral problems, suicidal or harmful thoughts, or bipolar or disordered personality traits, my practice is designed to provide relief and direction for your specific difficulties. I’m also here to help create the space for you to figure out what it means to be you, who you are, and who you want to be. Together, we can figure out the pieces. I welcome you to come, exactly as you are, right now, and we can move toward the person you want to be and the life you want to live. I look forward to meeting you, whether this is your first experience with counseling or if you are looking for a different approach. Whatever brings you to my office, we can do this together. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Georgia. I am also an engaged speaker at Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Georgia, and multiple organizations focused on providing mental health resources to college students and young adults. Additionally, I serve as a mental health liaison for most colleges and high schools in the Atlanta area and small group leader training in mental health awareness. As an LAPC, I receive my supervision from Marissa Mundy, LPC, CPCS. My additional trainings in Mindfulness Meditation, ACT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and CAMS enable me to work with clients of multiple faiths, backgrounds, and experiences.
Starting therapy can feel a little intimidating — especially if you’re juggling school, work, relationships, or figuring out your next steps in life. My job is to make that process feel less overwhelming and more like a conversation where you can be your real self. I work with young adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression, self-esteem challenges, and big life transitions. I bring a mix of evidence-based tools (like CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy) and plenty of real-world perspective to help you make sense of what’s going on, build confidence, and create changes that actually stick. Sometimes that means breaking down big problems into smaller, doable steps; sometimes it’s about finding new ways to see yourself & your future. Whether you’re feeling stuck, burned out, or just ready to figure yourself out a little more, I’ll meet you where you are — no judgment, no one-size-fits-all advice. I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable, understood, and even able to laugh along the way.
Life is demanding and leave you feeling over-burdened and out of touch with your sense of personal power and well-being. If you are struggle with test anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, recurrent or chronic pain, depression, trauma, or the mental load of everyday life, or other challenges, please reach out for help. I help people explore and restore their strengths, get in touch with their personal power, and shift their physical and emotional responses to life, people and the demands of the world.
As a licensed clinical psychologist, Gershom Lazarus draws from a background in physiology, neuropsychology, and clinical psychology to provide an integrated approach to assessment and treatment. He currently practices as a partner of IPD, an institute established over 40 years with offices in Georgia and Florida. Dr. Lazarus initially came to the United States as an international student and can relate to some of the seemingly unrelenting challenges facing students currently. The primary approach to providing care is rooted in developing an understanding of contributing factors at the physiological, neurological/neuropsychological, and psychological levels within the context of an individual’s behavioral and societal functioning. Each session aims to focus on understanding and psycho-education regarding the presenting issues, exercises for between sessions designed to practice strategies developed in-session, and ultimately “real-world” applications targeting areas of concern. While the initial focus tends to be managing the main areas of concern, the importance of growth and meaning are gradually introduced.
As a therapist, I specialize in working with current and former athletes, students, and high achievers who are navigating challenges with perfectionism, self-criticism, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, and identity. My practice is rooted in supporting girls and women strengthen their confidence and redefine their success. Whether you're navigating life during or after sport, facing academic or career pressure, or trying to rediscover who you are outside of achievement, therapy can be a powerful space to pause, reflect, and heal. Many of my clients are used to excelling. From the outside, they seem driven, focused, and capable. But internally, they may struggle with self-criticism, burnout, imposter syndrome, or a sense that they’re not “enough”, even when they’re exceeding expectations. I use evidence based strategies to help clients in creating a more empowered sense of self! My approach is collaborative, affirming, and non-judgemental. I’m a former collegiate athlete and current coach, so I have first-hand experience seeing and experiencing the impact on young women. I am also currently PhD Candidate researching depression, anxiety, and perfectionism seen in athletes.
Hello there! I am Abbie Becker (LMSW), a licensed psychotherapist specializing in DBT, RO-DBT, and CBT for adolescents and young adults. I work with clients that are seeking out services for individual, family, and group therapy. Whether you are new to therapy, ready to return, or wavering at the thought, I’m eager to connect – no matter where you are in life. Before we explore the fundamental question of “What brings you to therapy?”, I think it’s only reasonable for you to become acquainted with your potential therapist. I incorporate my values into practice by instilling authenticity, empathy, kindness, resiliency, and vulnerability. Originating in Metro Atlanta and raised on Georgia football, I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Georgia, while managing to find my way back to Atlanta for a master’s in clinical social work from Kennesaw State. On any given day, you can find me unapologetically jamming to music, scanning flight deals for my next place of travel, and expressing creativity through unfinished furniture flips, blank canvases, and original jewelry designs. I’m passionate about working with individuals who have challenges with anxiety, depression, mood instability, medical trauma, under-controlled and over-controlled traits, women’s health, belongingness, and self-esteem. With hundreds of relationships established across my diverse experiences with a human trafficking non-profit and three residential facilities - including Hillside, a nationally recognized treatment program - I consistently recognize that no one is too broken, hopeless, or unworthy of having a life that is worth living. The unpredictable elements of life can be overwhelming. At times, it feels like the sun may never rise. However, these are also the bittersweet moments that foster personal growth, and it would be my absolute privilege in guiding you to the warm light.
