I collaborate with adults as they heal from trauma, anxiety, loss, depression, other mood issues, or any number of matters leaving them feeling somehow ineffective. As a clinician for over nineteen years, I will join with you to identify and transform painful obstacles, arising from past and/or present challenges, which hinder you from making healthy changes. Drawing especially from Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), we will journey together to access your core nature, the Self, more spontaneously. This leads to clarity and calm over internal and external challenges you face, resulting in heightened creativity and effectiveness with problem solving, relationship building, and goal attainment. I believe you possess all necessary strengths and pathways to answers for improving your life, but may be having difficulty accessing them at present. I welcome individuals who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, including those questioning or seeking help adjusting to leading more open, fulfilled lives with however they identify themselves. The IFS model utilizes a non-pathologizing, mind-body focus. Drawing from the natural strengths existing within each of us, IFS and EMDR guide a person into taking the lead in one's own healing process, no matter how traumatic a background one may have lived through. On 5/4/14, I completed the Level 2 IFS training. On 3/12/17, I completed the basic EMDR training. I accept these insurances: BCBS and Medicare.

What I love most about my work is walking alongside people as they navigate life’s most difficult moments — grief, major life transitions, caregiving, serious illness, or the stress and uncertainty that comes with change. Life transitions can reshape how we understand ourselves, our relationships, and our future. Big changes — divorce, moving, career shifts, chronic illness, or the death of someone you love — can leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy is not about “moving on” or “getting over” your grief or stress. It’s about learning how to carry life’s challenges while honoring your story. I specialize in relational therapy that helps individuals, parents, and families make sense of the grief, stress, and anxiety that often comes with life transitions, while building on your inherent strengths to achieve your goals. I use principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build practical skills for coping and managing difficult emotions. I strive to be an authentic, warm, and honest therapist that brings empathy, understanding, and a little lightness to healing. Please feel welcome to reach out for an initial phone consultation - I would love to see if we’re a good fit.

One of the great promises of therapy is that even when we don’t know exactly what we need or know how to feel better, if we lean in with curiosity and compassion- and stay committed- we can learn to turn toward ourselves and each other with empathy, begin to build healthier relationships, and ride waves of emotions like a pro surfer. I believe we all have the capacity to grow and reach greater levels of understanding along happiness in life. I think the best way to get there is through a meaningful connection that is created in a safe environment where we can express our authentic needs. I often support clients with experiences like stress, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, bipolar, ADHD, and autism. I have been trained in various clinical techniques in Europe, including schema therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. My approach is integrative and tailored to your unique goals and needs. Growing up outside the US, I also bring a cross-cultural perspective that deepens my understanding of the challenges people from diverse backgrounds might face. I empower my clients to gain insights into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so that they can make meaningful changes in their lives. Reach out if you're curious about working together!

I believe that therapy should be a space where you don't have to perform, explain, or minimize your feelings, no matter your reason for reaching out. As a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, I welcome clients with diverse identities and concerns, and strive to create a safe, compassionate environment where you feel truly seen, heard, and understood. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma/complex PTSD, including survivors of assault/abuse. I also support clients navigating life transitions, identity-related challenges, relationship concerns, emotional dysregulation, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, and academic/workplace challenges. Since there's no one-size-fits-all in healing, our work together will be tailored to your unique needs and a pace that feels safe, supportive, and sustainable for you. This can include processing difficult experiences, building insight, developing practical coping strategies, and fostering self-compassion, resilience, and a stronger sense of self. As a Harvard-trained researcher, my therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based care, integrating cognitive behavioral, dialectical, somatic, psychodynamic, and narrative interventions to help you create lasting, meaningful change. I look forward to supporting you in your journey towards a life that feels more grounded, fulfilling, and authentic.

The Narrative Network offers collaborative therapy for people across Massachusetts and brings therapists together for supervision, training, and ongoing relationships with the ideas and practices called narrative therapy. We believe people are more than the problems they are facing. Difficulties take shape in lives, relationships, histories, and social worlds — and therapy can create room to notice the values, knowledges, commitments, and relationships that may have become harder to see when life is difficult.

Welcome! I am a licensed individual therapist who works with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, low self-esteem, and difficult life-transitions. My clients are typically looking for a path to cope with their present concerns through developing and strengthening skills and self-understanding to aid them in living more comfortable, fulfilling, and meaningful lives. I use an eclectic approach to engage in a client-centered relationship formed through compassion, empathy, and validation. My commitment is to provide a non-judgmental, safe space to help people guide themselves toward a place of empowerment and personal growth. I specialize in humanistic practice and know that each person possesses their own unique strengths and abilities to build upon in helping them evolve and improve their quality of life. Change is hard, plain and simple, and that includes starting a new therapeutic relationship and taking action in addressing your needs. I believe that just like we train our bodies, we can strengthen our minds—and I’m here to support you in doing just that. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, or the stressors of daily life, therapy offers a space to feel grounded, supported, and seen. As a pre-licensed mental health counselor, I provide both individual and couples therapy for adolescents, teens, college students, and adults. My clinical experience spans college counseling centers, PHP/IOP programs, and private practice, giving me the opportunity to support people through a wide range of mental health challenges and life transitions. My therapeutic approach is compassion-focused, collaborative, and deeply human-first. I believe that while I bring training and clinical knowledge, you bring the wisdom of your lived experience—your values, your identities, and your goals. Together, we work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Person-Centered Therapy. I often integrate these modalities to support clients struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma and PTSD, panic disorder, identity development (including sexuality, gender, culture, and personal interests), relationship concerns, and performance-related stress. With a background as a professional soccer player, I also have a special passion for working with athletes and performers, helping them build emotional resilience and navigate both mental health and performance pressures. Wherever you are in your process—whether you’re seeking healing, clarity, growth, or grounding—I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, panic, phobias, OCD, and related disorders in college students and young adults. I also work with clients looking to effectively navigate and cope with current life stressors (e.g., work challenges, interpersonal relationships, transitions). I use evidenced-based techniques in my work with clients, and primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) perspective. By emphasizing the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors clients will gain greater insight into their concerns and learn techniques for managing their anxiety and other life stressors. To target the behavioral aspects of anxiety, I will frequently incorporate exposure and response prevention (ERP) into my work to help clients to engage in exposures both during sessions and in real-world settings. I use a collaborative, personalized, and warm approach, working with clients to better understand their anxieties or challenges and encouraging them to become their own therapists over time while achieving their goals. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Bowdoin College, research assistantship at Boston University at the Family and Development Treatment Lab, doctoral studies at Boston University where I trained at their Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD), clinical internship at the VA Boston Healthcare System, and postdoctoral training at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. I then was a staff Psychologist at the McLean Anxiety Mastery Program (MAMP), an intensive outpatient program at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Most recently, I was a staff Psychologist and Assistant Director at Emerson College’s Counseling and Psychological Services.

Sometimes the ways we learned to survive are the very things now keeping us stuck. If you’ve found yourself overthinking, constantly on edge, emotionally shut down, stuck in painful relationship patterns, or feeling like you’re carrying experiences your body never fully got to process, you are not alone! Therapy to me is not about judgment, fixing you, or forcing quick answers. It is about creating a space where you feel genuinely seen, safe, and understood while we begin making sense of what your mind and body have been holding. I offer trauma-informed, relational therapy grounded in evidence-based practice & deep compassion. Integrating ACT, IFS, and somatic approaches, I help adolescents and adults navigate complex trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, women's issues, identity exploration, and family transitions, including divorce and high conflict dynamics. As an MSW clinician with a background in psychology, criminal justice, trauma-informed advocacy, and mental health research, I bring clinical training and genuine humanity to my work. Healing isn't about becoming someone different. It's about understanding yourself with more clarity, compassion, and safety so you can live with greater freedom and connection!

Hello, my name is Dr. Sarah O'Neil. I'm a psychiatrist (medical doctor who can prescribe) currently practicing entirely by telehealth. I am passionate about my work. I am warm and real. I will greet you with a smile, and talk to you like a fellow human. In addition to medication and evidence based therapies, I use humor, irreverence, thought provoking quotes, essays, websites, apps and video clips to introduce concepts such as self care, self compassion, boundary setting and effective coping skills. I provide a thorough initial assessment over the first several appointments, during which time we each figure out if we are a good match for working together. At the completion of the initial assessment, if we agree to work together, I will present a menu of reasonable treatment options that may include medication as well as CBT, DBT and mindfulness based therapy. If you are seeking professional help and are ready to engage collaboratively in an environment of hope and non-judgment to understand yourself through the lens of compassion, we may be a good fit. The best way to arrange an intake is to call my work phone: 617-622-3990. I have been treating/collaborating with/ advocating for college students for my entire career. I see people who have mood disorders, all the anxiety disorders (e.g. generalized anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, social phobia) I also have expertise in assessing and treating people with eating disorders. There is a question below about communities I support. All are welcome in my practice. Hate has no place in my office. I have experience supporting people who have felt the effects of weight or mental health stigma, as well as working mothers and women with or a history of post-partum depression.

Do you feel stuck or alone? Do you find yourself comparing your life to others? Do you desire a better tomorrow? To acknowledge that you are experiencing something that may benefit from professional support is a powerful first step. You may be noticing changes in your mood, behaviors, or personality as a result of the stressors you currently face or have faced. With my collaboration and support, you can develop the skills you need to cope with life's stressors and ultimately achieve lasting psychological growth. For individuals, I specialize in the management and symptom reduction of depressive and anxiety disorders, as well as effective navigation of life transitions, relationship issues and identity formation (i.e. values identification, development of self-esteem, purpose finding/meaning making). I engage clients through a collaborative, integrative approach to foster learning of necessary skills and development of greater insight. Please note my fee for individual therapy is $200/session. For couples, I specialize in the pursuit of client-identified goals through effective communication, conflict resolution, and applicable skill building. Great to meet you! My philosophy is simple: listen first, treat second. I take time to understand your story, explain how diagnoses and medications work, and ensure every decision is made together. You’ll never feel rushed or dismissed. I value transparency, education, and collaboration in every session. My approach to treatment: What you can expect from our first session Our first session is about getting to know you. We’ll review your current concerns, explore your history, and discuss what you hope to gain from treatment. Most importantly, you’ll be met with patience and respect. This is a space for you to feel heard, understood, and supported as we begin working toward meaningful change together.
