Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Hello, my name is Jessica. I am passionate about helping individuals and families find hope and healing amidst life's challenges. I provide client-centered counseling services, which allows us to focus on how your situation impacts you, as well as use and develop skills and resources to support you in achieving your goals. I graduated from Cornerstone University with my B.S. in Youth Ministry in 2015 and have over 10 years of working with teens and young adults in various capacities. From here, I returned to Cornerstone to finish my M.A. in Counseling. I have a specialization in working with teens, young adults, and their families, but also enjoy working with people of all ages who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and grief. My story gives me a unique perspective in understanding the challenges of ministry leadership, women experiencing infertility, adoption, and unexpected death loss.

I am a mental health professional who integrates evidence based practices with a Christ Like worldview to support healing, growth, restoration and transformation. True wellness and stability includes all aspects of the person that includes the mind, body, and spirit, and I strive to create a safe, grace-filled space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. I value providing services to help individuals navigate the the challenging journey of life and offer a non judgemental space where clients can be open, vulnerable and honest about any challenges that they may be facing.
Living in your body may feel exhausting, unfamiliar, or even unsafe. Trauma, relationship harm, health changes or chronic illness, and struggles with body image and eating can leave us feeling disconnected and stuck between overwhelm and shutdown. I offer a warm, grounded presence where you can feel seen and begin cultivating a deeper sense of self-trust and wholeness - a space to explore lived experiences and learn supportive wellness practices. I work with busy students who are carrying the weight of stress, trauma, and grief while navigating immense transitions and responsibilities. Many of my clients are healing from sexual violence, emotional relationship harm, chronic/invisible illness and health-related changes (migraines, endometriosis, PCOS, POTS, cancer), and concerns around relationship with body and food, including disordered eating. I've supported students and young adults for over a decade, with many years of experience working in a college specialty counseling clinic. I use a mind-body approach that blends somatic (body-based), cognitive, and mindfulness practices including Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT Tapping). This helps us understand ourselves with compassion, cope with emotional overwhelm and physical body discomfort, heal from trauma, and reconnect to relationships and activities that nourish us. I find great joy in serving multicultural and multi-faith communities while providing a weight-inclusive, culturally-affirming, and trauma-informed space where all parts of you are welcome.

First of all, I appreciate your time reviewing my profile. Here's what you can expect from our work together: I deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally competent treatment for a wide range of mental health diagnoses and substance use disorders. In every session, I aim to empower clients with mental health education, acknowledge strengths, and bring compassion and honesty to vulnerable moments in therapy. It is my hope that we can spend time understanding how past experiences are influencing the present and work towards more authenticity and self-led actions in the future. Please reach out if you have any specific questions/concerns, I would be happy to address them with you. Certifications: LCPC, CADC, ADHD-CCPS, CCTP, CAGCS, CSTIP
I specialize in working with students in college, educators, people in helping professionals, and young parents. My clients desire someone who can support them in their goals, who listens well, and sees them through a holistic perspective. My clients understand that healing is a process and desire to live a wholehearted life but often feel stuck or find them repeating patterns they can't break. I have been a school social worker for many years, so I bring my experience to help you navigate your life and professional transitions. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, CAADC with over 15 years of experience. I have specialized knowledge in trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Internal family Systems, (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidenced based intervention for working with individuals who have experienced trauma or disturbing events in their lives that keep them stuck. EMDR quickly moves an individual through disturbing events and negative self-beliefs, to positive self-beliefs, eliminating emotional distress. I believe improved quality of life, emotional, physical, and social, can be achieved by building upon your strengths and providing you a safe, supportive, nonjudgement environment, while respecting your hopes, dreams, and desires. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, families and the LGBTQ+ community obtain the quality of life they deserve through their healing process. If you do not have the quality of life you deserve, there is hope. It would an honor to assist you with achieving the happy, healthy, and purpose driven life, with quality relationships, that you so deserve.
Hi, I’m a Latina Christian therapist, and I work best with students who feel like they’re carrying a lot—whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, or just trying to figure out who they are. Many of my clients are first-generation immigrants or come from multicultural backgrounds and are navigating big transitions, like moving away from home, balancing family expectations, or finding their voice in new spaces. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or misunderstood, you're not alone. I use evidence-based approaches like EMDR to help process trauma, DBT and CBT to build practical coping skills, and even animal-assisted therapy for emotional support. I create a space where you can show up as your full self—culturally, spiritually, and emotionally—and be met with care and understanding. If that sounds like what you need, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

I am currently accepting clients on a short-term basis for crisis counseling. Sliding scale and pro bono services available. My availability is flexible and I offer in person (East Lansing) and Telehealth. I work to help people navigate their complex worlds in order to live a healthier, happier life. I believe that all components of one's life are interrelated. Stress, crisis, life changes and uncertainty happen to everyone, often without warning. When crisis or chaos strike, it is comforting to have someone listen in a safe, open, non-judgmental space in which you can uncover the inner strengths and skills you already possess. I work with clients to create this environment, through which genuine healing, change, and self-empowerment can occur.

My clients desire to connect to an internal sense of sturdiness that allows them to live more empowered, hopeful and meaningful lives. I have a clinical specialty working with people who are struggling to find connection in their relationships and are at a crossroad in their life (divorce, grief & loss, new parents, affair recovery, professional burnout). I would be honored to help you make sense of your life and rebuild again. I strive to provide a compassionate, gentle, safe, and trustworthy environment that fosters a strong, therapeutic relationship. I operate from a holistic therapy approach that is person-centered and draws on the strengths of my clients. I am dedicated to creating a non-judgmental and empathic space where my clients feel seen and heard. I value and honor the unique story of each client, as well as the vulnerability it takes to reach out for support. Together, we will hold curiosity about your struggles and begin a journey of growth and healing.
Life can be difficult. With the right tools and some effort, it does not have to be. My hope is to help you with your goals. Whether that is to feel better (less depressed, anxious or angry), improve your relationships (with a spouse, parent, child, etc.), change your behaviors (substance use, self harm, avoidance), or anything else that is important to you, I'd love the opportunity to work with you. I enjoy working with a many different presenting problems. My passions include working with teens/adults, men's issues (especially navigating work and/or family life), post-partum Dads, athletes and substance use/co-occurring disorders. Therapy isn't one-size fits all. I utilize many forms of therapy depending on what my client may need. These typically include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing. Each client is unique and I find it important to adjust treatment strategies to the needs of each client. Should you allow me to be a help to you, you can always expect empathy and compassion. But you can also expect me to be direct, push you to challenge your perspective, and inject a bit of humor into the therapy process. I welcome you to reach out if you think I could be the right fit for you.
