When you’ve experienced trauma, harm, injustice or high stress environments it can leave us feeling overstimulated or detached. This can make it hard to see the other side, which is why I'm here to go along this path with you. I specialize in working with trauma processing, neurodivergence, identity exploration, existential thoughts, psychiatric harm, interpersonal relationships and sexual well-being. I often work with black/multi-racial persons, LGBTQIA2S+ folk, those with disabilities, college students, and those experiencing life transitions. My approach is rooted in empowerment, interpersonal dynamics and liberation. I strive to find techniques and tools specifically for you, so you walk away from each session feeling like we have truly done the work.

Are you feeling weary, inadequate or emotionally exhausted? Have you struggled to manage anxiety and you're ready for a change? I would love to partner with you. I grew up on my family's asparagus farm in West Michigan. I'm a proud MSU alum and began my career teaching high school before pursuing my masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I continued my training at the Chicago Area Christian Training Consortium to further integrate my faith and clinical work, and I continue to enjoy the integration of spirituality and psychology as clients desire in therapy. I've worked in the mental health field since 2006 and feel passionate about aligning with clients ready to seek change, heal wounds and foster ongoing curiosity and insight in their lives. Perhaps you feel a nudge to seek your full potential, experience lasting transformation and find fulfillment in your most cherished relationships. I love to use humor, my style is very relational and I value a high standard of professionalism, ethics and confidentiality in my work. I'd be happy to provide a 15 minute phone consultation to answer any questions and help determine our mutual fit.

Welcome! Starting counseling is not easy and by coming here you have taken an important first step. This is meant to be a safe and non-judgmental space. I am a licensed master social worker with a wide variety of life experiences which have given me the opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I am continually working to expand my therapeutic knowledge and skills in order to offer clients the right treatment for individual needs. That said I do embrace aspects of “positive psychology”. I like to accentuate what is right with you and not focus only on what is “wrong” with you. I have specialized training in Infant Mental Health, several behavioral therapies (DBT, CBT, ACT, MBCT), Child Parent Psychotherapy, and trauma informed therapies. I lean towards the so called “third wave” cognitive behavioral therapies which include concepts such as acceptance and mindfulness. I have experience treating people with a range of challenges including but not limited to depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief and loss, PTSD and trauma. I believe that everyone has the capacity to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life. Sometimes we face challenges and barriers which may seem overwhelming. Therapy can help identify the source of these challenges and how to overcome them. Currently I work with adults and couples, and accept most major insurances.

We could all use a little help at some point and a safe place to receive support. Seeking help and counseling is a courageous act. I’m here to help you explore aspects of your life that may be too hard to look at on your own, gain clarity in areas that you can’t quite make sense of yet and illuminate skills, resources and values that have been muddled for you. I am deeply committed to helping my clients heal and thrive as they cope with anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, body image concerns, relationship difficulties, identity changes, etc. I utilize an empathic and collaborative approach to provide culturally sensitive treatment tailored to your needs and goals. Together we will work towards increasing self and relational awareness, identifying and processing emotions, highlighting strengths and values and fostering acceptance.

As parents, we can feel overwhelmed by the task of raising successful, happy children and life these days sure doesn't make it any easier. My goal as a therapist is to provide kids and families with tools to not only heal, but to thrive. In 2013, I graduated from Michigan State University with a Masters in Social Work. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have developed a deep passion for providing evidence-based treatment to children and families who have experienced trauma. I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation/self-harm, and trauma. I incorporate trauma informed interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic techniques. Each child is different, and each family they are a part of is unique as well- I make every effort to tailor your therapy to you and your family's needs.

I welcome all who seek to understand their life's journey and the struggle they may be currently facing. I value each person and their story and aim to give support, encouragement and guidance as we work together. One of the main ways I have helped others is through brain spotting, which is a very gentle approach to treating trauma and releasing stress stored in the limbic system. Feel free to reach out to me if I can answer questions to help you find the best fit for counseling.

Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful parts of us. –David Richo Allowing yourself to be vulnerable with someone new is often one of the most challenging aspects of starting therapy. There is a stigma associated with seeking professional help for mental health in many communities; however, therapy can open doors you didn’t know existed. I believe that you are your own expert and have the strength within you to navigate challenges in your life. My role as a therapist is to be along your side to help find the best version of yourself. Each individual’s path in therapy is unique. With the use of strength-based interventions we can find a safe, culturally-responsive, and a non-judgmental environment to support your needs and overcome challenges. I am passionate about helping individuls explore the thoughts and feelings that empower them to develop healthy habits for their daily lives. Healing and change can start with a simple intention and my intention is to help you achieve your personal goals. I am eager to work with individuals who have endured all forms of trauma, including sexual, physical, and emotional. Unprocessed trauma can manifest itself in various forms including emotional responses and physical symptoms. Our bodies often hold on to feelings that our brains cannot process and in turn inhibit our potential to succeed in our daily life. I aim to give you the tools you need to settle those feelings and symptoms and enable your potential for growth, empowerment, self-love, and success. As a daughter of immigrants, I am familiar with the struggles of feeling like an outsider, facing ongoing acculturation, as well as the stress and anxiety that comes with resettlement and starting over. I strive to normalize therapy and make it accessible to anyone struggling with their cultural or personal identity, including the immigrant community and anyone seeking therapy for the first time.
