Do you ever get intrusive thoughts or images that are distressing and you just can't seem to get rid of them? You may even have thoughts of harming someone and have to check to make sure you didn't. You don't actually want to harm them, but the thoughts keep coming. Immediate telehealth evening appts. You're tired. You have to carry BIG emotions all the damn time with no outlet to let them out. You may cry when you’re alone, but put on a smile so the world can’t see you're hurting on the inside. There is no time to slow down because slowing down makes the inner critic grow louder about how awful you are. Perhaps you get some release through eating or other coping methods, but ultimately, that voice comes right back again. The inner critic makes it hard for you to accept yourself and love your flaws. It makes it hard for you to live your life intentionally, with confidence in yourself to use your voice. Everyone deserves to live a life they're excited to wake up to. Therapy helps with this. It allows you to show up and be your authentic self while healing that inner critic who causes trauma and shame. You don't have to save face. The journey may be tough. However, taking a step allows you to get closer to the resiliency you seek and break the cycle. If anything above resonates with you, I see you. I look forward to helping you become the best version of yourself. All you have to do is show up and I'll walk the beaten path with you. Just call or schedule at (www.ashleyhoseycounseling.com). I'm an OON provider but ask about superbills and other payment options.

Counseling is like creating a work of art. It can be messy, beautiful, and transformative, but overall, it is a collaboration between client and therapist. I believe that you are the expert on your life and as such use a person-centered approach leaning into a balance of body, mind, and emotion. Doing so allows me to work with you to identify and reach specific goals, which assist in achieving well-being for emotional, physical and mental health. I enjoy working with a wide array of cultures and lifestyles. I currently offer telehealth sessions and see persons of all ages and backgrounds. I am trained in child and adolescent trauma, adult trauma, EMDR, human sexuality, grief, and somatic therapy, amongst other areas. I have a special focus in women’s trauma, adverse childhood experiences and military trauma, utilizing somatic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of trauma, depression, chronic pain, anxiety, and sexual dysfunction.

My name is Kira (she/her) and I am here to help you heal relational wounds. Relationships are foundational to our experience. Connection, intimacy, and feelings of safety are all tied into the relationships formed with ourselves, our communities, and even the natural world. These interactions, or lack thereof, shape our stories and affirm the kind of narratives we tell ourselves about the world around us. You and I’s relationship will act as a conduit for understanding these messages with the intention of cultivating greater connectedness. If relationships are the chapters within our stories, identity is the color and context that fills the pages. Our roles and identities are interwoven together to create the way in which we move through the world. My experience as the eldest child to Caribbean immigrants informed me of this at an early age as I realized not all of my parts of self were allowed expression. I came to understand that the cumulative burdens of family, society, and ancestry not only impacted myself, but everyone around me. The persistent stigma and lack of accessibility for quality mental health care is just one example of these collective burdens. For that reason, my practice is rooted in the belief that decolonizing mental health is essential for fostering genuine healing. I aim to expand traditional frameworks by valuing cultural diversity and understanding the role of historical trauma in shaping individual experiences. Together, we will navigate the impact of these legacies on mental health, promoting an inclusive and holistic therapeutic process. I look forward to connecting with you soon.
Are you struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or your sense of identity? Are you at a point where something has to change but you just don’t know where to start? My goal is to help you find that starting point. I understand that many of us struggle with getting by on a day to day basis. High levels of stress can impact our mood, interactions with those close to us, even our performance at work or school. Allow me to aid you in managing the stress that you experience. I work from a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, providing you a safe space to enter the therapy setting as you are and work toward your goals. I will help you in increasing your self-understanding, communicating your needs, identifying your strengths, and working through the roadblocks of life. Ready to take the first step? I know change may not be easy, but I believe we all have it in us to become the best version of ourselves. Versions that are better able to handle the everyday stressors of life. I will meet you where you are, to help you become who you want to be. I’m happy to support you along your journey.

If you’ve landed here you are probably seeking connection, and hope to find the right professional to support you. Something has gotten in the way, or you’ve lost your way to a life that is rich and meaningful. It may be about fractured relationship, debilitating emotional struggles, over-reliance on a substance, the grip of social media, the persistence of trauma, or elusive life balance. Or you may wish to deepen progress you’ve already made in making a life worth living. I offer the wisdom and skills that come from over 30 years working in mental health. My 20+ years as a licensed therapist have included direct work with people of all ages and in all combinations, often as I also served in leadership positions in residential programs. My primary approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), including ACT for Trauma. Depending on what is useful, I weave elements of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. The work I do is informed by Buddhist Psychology, and often includes guidance in the use of specific meditation techniques to bring clarity and growth. My own life has been enriched by my experience as a person in long-term recovery, my dedicated mindfulness/meditation practice, and my immersion in the outdoors wherever my travels take me.
