I am a licensed psychologist in Eugene, Oregon with a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute. I trained at Santa Clara University for a predoctoral internship and at Cornell University for my postdoctoral residency. In the past, I have worked in a substance use residential treatment center, in a primary care clinic for health psychology training, at an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and at both community college and university settings. I have experience with helping individuals address trauma, depression, anxiety, and increase the ability to manage emotions. I also can help with adjustment to medical diagnoses and making behavioral changes in consultation with your physicians. I have done extensive work focused on multicultural experiences and can help with navigating race-related stress, understanding immigrant, first generation, or multiracial identities, and LGBT identity concerns. I provide therapy that is integrative, but primarily draws from Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance-commitment therapy (ACT), Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Cognitive processing therapy for trauma (CPT), and schema therapy. I also strongly believe that therapy must be grounded in multicultural understanding of identity and human functioning. When working with me, you will share your experiences with a warm, compassionate, safe person, while collaborating toward your goals in concrete ways. We will address the issues that are most important to you in counseling while you continue to make change in your life. It is important that therapy is working for you, so we will check in about the process of therapy and your own sense of progress on a regular basis. Through our work together, my goal as a therapist is to empower you to enrich your life with positive change. We will address your thoughts and feelings, and endeavor to expand your capacity to accept and cope with your emotions. Together, we will strive to reduce unwanted behaviors and to deepen your understanding of yourself and others.

Life can be overwhelming and bring challenges that seem bigger than ourselves. This can lead us down rocky terrain. If you find yourself exhausted, unmotivated, anxious, depressed, feeling helpless or hopeless, know that it is okay to seek help. You can change your path. As a therapist it is my goal to meet my clients where they are on their path, to assist them in learning how to access their inner strengths, to practice self-compassion, and learn to overcome harmful narratives developed from past traumas. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them achieve their goals and live a more fulfilled life. Change can be uncomfortable but with a strong therapeutic relationship and support it can feel more manageable, empowering, and exciting. The core of my practice is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, self compassion work, and mindfulness. I am also a registered art therapist allowing for therapeutic exploration through art for clients who are interested.

I believe that counseling should focus on holistic wellness which incorporates physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, and environmental wellness. Counseling isn't about fixing, but growing. My goal is to create an environment that radiates warmth, comfort, and safety with the intention of facilitating growth and healing through support and empowerment. I am here to walk down the path toward healing with you as you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a judgement-free environment. I specialize in working with complex trauma, specifically trauma stemming from intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and childhood abuse. I have a special interest in working with clients who identify as multicultural and/or LGBTQ+. I incorporate a compassion-focused approach with trauma-informed interventions to promote self-love and self-acceptance. I believe that each person holds within themselves the ability to heal. We have all experienced pain, grief and hardship, and we all have the capacity for great resiliency. You have gotten to where you are today because you have worked to be here. When humans are provided with support and connection, they can achieve growth and peace.

I know the deep darkness of anxiety and depression. I am now happier and healthier and it is my passion to work alongside you to offer the support and guidance in your healing journey. I specialize in helping women reclaim their identity and find safety within themselves again. Using EMDR and somatic-based tools, we don't just talk about the past; we work to release it from your nervous system. In addition to EMDR, I integrate somatic-based practices, including gentle yoga and mindfulness techniques, when appropriate. By incorporating body-based awareness and movement, clients often experience a deeper sense of calm, grounding, and connection to themselves.

The college years can be some of the most overwhelming — academic pressure, perfectionism, anxiety, homesickness, identity shifts, and the weight of major transitions, often layered on top of experiences you carried here long before. Whatever you're navigating, I'll meet you with directness, honesty, and genuine warmth — and there will likely be some laughter along the way. We'll work toward your goals as a team, with care tailored to you and shaped by an understanding that your background, identity, and lived experience matter deeply. This is a space space, and all are welcome here. I commonly work with students navigating: - Anxiety and perfectionism - Depression - Trauma and past experiences - Chronic illness and chronic pain - Homesickness and life transitions - Identity and self-worth Therapy with me is supportive and nonjudgmental — and direct. Expect to be gently challenged. Together we'll work on dismantling negative core beliefs, shifting unhelpful thought patterns, building healthy boundaries, and finding coping skills that actually fit your life . Our first session is about you. I'll walk you through what to expect and your rights as a client, and you'll have space to ask questions. Building trust and rapport makes the work possible — so we'll begin laying that foundation while I gather some important background. My goal is that when you leave, you feel heard, understood, and genuinely hopeful that growth is possible.

Hi, I’m Jessica Izsak As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon, I offer a warm, grounded space where you can begin to make sense of what feels heavy, stuck, or overwhelming. I tailor therapy to each person’s needs, pace, and goals, with care that is thoughtful, collaborative, and steady. When people come to treatment with problems, it is important to remember that they are trying to cope with them in the best way they can. With that in mind, I offer a reflective and engaging partnership with my clients, working toward the goal of helping them to be autonomous, authentic and compassionate in a world that can be extremely stressful. Although my work is solidly grounded in psychodynamic, cognitive/learning, and systems theories, my approach is client-centered, practical and strengths-based. I bring honesty, warmth, and humor to the therapy relationship. I am LGBTQ affirmative and invested in doing cross-cultural therapy which is culturally sensitive. I have a dog, Bracket, who works with me, and I have been doing AAT since 2002. There is a growing body of research which suggests that AAT (Animal-Assisted Therapy) can be helpful with a range of diagnoses, including Depression, PTSD, and Autistic Spectrum. Many therapists know little about online games such as World of Warcraft and Second Life. They may dismiss it as unimportant, or assume it is a problem. I am a gamer-affirmative therapist, meaning I’m more interested in understanding your in-world experience and activity than pathologizing it.
