Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the path ahead? You're not alone. I'm Sara, and I'm here to support you on your journey towards healing, growth, and empowerment. If you're tired of feeling controlled by anxiety or struggling to navigate life's transitions, I am here to support you! Using a combination of EMDR therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and holistic approaches, I work collaboratively with clients to uncover underlying patterns, process past traumas, and develop effective coping strategies. My approach is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for your unique journey.
I offer counseling and psychotherapy to a wide range of individuals and couples. My approach is integrative and collaborative and focused on the therapeutic relationship. The work will focus not only on what you feel and think, but also how you relate with others, how your body responds, and how meaning emerges through your lived experiences. Together we can explore patterns, bring awareness, cultivate compassion and find fresh perspectives to support you to thrive. My goal is to help you find new ways to relate to the world and to enable you to embrace your experiences more fully and bravely. I hope to do this by creating a safe, open, and collaborative environment where you can experiment with new ways of relating to yourself and others. I bring in skills from therapies, such as ACT and DBT, to help you find your strengths and develop your resources. And I recognize that the most growth occurs in an authentic relationship which balances compassion with challenge and emphasizes social justice and intersectionality. Having recovered from an eating disorder, I approach my work from a Health-at-Every-Size and fat-positive framework. All bodies are good bodies, all foods are good foods, and all emotions are valid. I also have experience working with interpersonal trauma, grief, relationship struggles, disordered eating and body image concerns, and identity development, as well as anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.
Hey! My name is Elena, I use she/her pronouns, and I work with rebels, rioters, and revolutionaries. My practice is one that centers and celebrates authenticity, courageous exploration, and a collaborative, therapeutic relationship. In practice, this can look like taking the time to build trust and connection, pulling from a wide variety of modalities, and curiosity and silliness when needed (which I believe is often!) I have seen many therapists feel the need to rush into “fixing”; in my work, there is no rush and there is no “fixing”. Together, we will sit in the messy experience of being human; exploring and learning from our pain while uplifting and celebrating the joys. We will co-create your therapy experience, making it into whatever you need it to be in order to feel as safe as possible. I bring an anti-oppression and decolonization lens to the work of therapy, as this helps to ensure that I do my best to mitigate the harmful impacts of these systemic issues in the healing space. I will certainly make mistakes. I hope you do, too! These are opportunities for both of us to practice collective learning, unlearning, and healing. I believe that therapy is community. We may share certain identities and there will be those we do not share, yet it remains a community. Let's be in joyous community together!
How are you doing right now? And what do you need? Maybe you know exactly; maybe you need some help to figure that out as you adjust to college life or deal with other stressors you might be experiencing right now. Either way, I really want to acknowledge your courage in seeking support. I offer a compassionate space to work through anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress, grief, trauma, and relationship issues, to transition through stages of life, or to make meaning out of tough things you have been through along the way. Services are available to anyone in Colorado. And, as a longtime climber and backcountry splitboarder, I also offer empathetic support for the unique needs of the mountain sports, outdoor recreation, and SAR communities. In our sessions, my role will be to help you identify and soothe underlying emotional wounding beneath problematic coping mechanisms that can form due to painful experiences, relationship difficulties, or other trauma. For relationships, I serve as a guide to help partners build trust and understanding by learning how to feel more secure with one another. Depending on your needs, we can use elements of traditional talk therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, nature-based methods, CBT, and more. I offer a balance of supportive listening, gentle challenging, and tools for managing difficult feelings. And, throughout our work together, I will always invite you to collaborate on goals, methods we use, and next steps. TO SCHEDULE A FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION... If it seems like I could be a fit for you, send me an email or leave me a voicemail with your name, number, a little bit about the support you might be seeking, and some times you might be available. I offer a flexible approach to therapy through Telehealth for you to explore the changes you are wanting to make. I take an empathetic and nurturing approach by using strength based and person centered methods of communication with clients. By using evidence based practices we will focus on your empowerment and understanding of self. My role to you as your therapist is to show up in a collaborative and authentic way. You might feel like you're always searching for the thing, the right practice, the perfect insight, the magic fix that will finally make you feel whole, real, or enough. You’ve read all the books, done all the self-help, and still feel stuck in the same patterns, disconnected from yourself and the world around you. Or maybe you’re painfully aware of all your struggles but don’t know how to move forward. Here’s the truth: you don’t need to be fixed. Healing isn’t about doing more, working harder, or becoming someone different. It starts with being, with slowing down, noticing, and meeting yourself with curiosity rather than criticism I help clients shift from doing to being by building non-judgmental awareness and self-acceptance. This becomes solid ground from which real change can emerge. Using mindfulness, relational and bodily awareness we’ll explore how to soften survival patterns, expand your capacity to be with yourself, and cultivate a sense of aliveness, connection, and trust. I offer a grounded, relational space where we move with our patterns, not against them. Together, we’ll explore how your nervous system has adapted to past experiences and how to build skills that work with your unique body and life. If this resonates, reach out for a free consultation.I’d love to connect. I meet virtually and accept Medicaid and private pay
“With adversity comes opportunity” from the I Ching- Or Book of Changes The decision to seek therapy can be due to times of stress or the desire to seek change. We know that change is not always a straight path. To take a “road less traveled” can be filled with a beautiful river that flows and leads to clarity or it be a be a river filled with large boulders that need to be traversed with help and support. Therapy can be a tool that facilitates resilience and transformation. My approach in therapy is to first engage in a process of discovery. As your therapist, we will work together to discover what events, situations, and relationships in your life or your past do not work for you now. It is really important to understand how your life works in order to set goals and create change. Most importantly, it is important to remember that change affects all the people in your life. At some point, many people realize that what they're doing is no longer working, but they're not sure what to do to fix it. I specialize in people (13+) and families who are dealing with conflict, self-defeating behaviors, anxiety, depression, stress, anger, loneliness, relationship issues, low self-esteem, or questions of identity. Through my practice, I've successfully helped clients move past issues that have blocked them from living fully, completely, and whole-heartedly. While working with me, they've been able to find more joy, happiness, success, and peace in the areas of their life that matter most to them. Together, we'll build your self-awareness, develop clarity on your goals and values, and foster an understanding of where you're coming from and where you'd like to go. I use several evidence-based modalities to help my clients do that, but the most important aspect of my practice is my relational, non-judgmental, open, direct, and clear approach. My work matters deeply to me and I feel a strong calling to give my clients my best, session after session. There's no better feeling I get than when my clients sense their progress and recognize that their life is changing in ways they've always longed for. If any of this has resonated with you, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's talk.
