Therapists for college students near 02155
Hi, thanks so much for taking an interest in my practice. It takes great courage and awareness to come to the decision to reach out for support. I see clients in my office in Cambridge, MA, near Davis Square, and in Melrose, MA, as well as by teletherapy/videochat. I specialize in helping people to free themselves from the 'silent conversation' that we have with ourselves throughout the day. By understanding how this conversation influences our thoughts, feelings, and actions, it is possible to adapt it to feel more empowered in life. It is my hope that your therapy experience will feel comforting, meaningful, real, and effective in getting to the heart of your core concerns. I work from an integrative framework in a warm and interactive environment, drawing from holistic, cognitive, and psychodynamic influences to help people to reclaim a sense of choice and authorship in their lives. My background includes more than 25 years in clinical healthcare, school, and community settings working therapeutically with individuals, couples, and groups on a wide-range of issues causing acute and chronic distress. Psychological suffering exists on different levels and manifests in different ways, in psyche, body, interpersonally, socially, both consciously and unconsciously. Thankfully, there are many ways to address psychological struggle, ranging from working with symptoms that are consciously experienced to the exploration of underlying non-conscious dynamics, many of which originate during the early years of one's life and impact one's relationship with self and others. My work is social justice-informed and incorporates an understanding of how larger socio-political systems impact our lives. Facilitating empowerment is key in my work. I provide a safe space and relationship in which to listen deeply, to your thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories, fantasies, and bodily experience. By learning to listen in new ways, we expand our capacity to hold more, respond with greater flexibility, clarity and ease, develop presence and compassion, and become empowered to make positive changes. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness and Internal Family Systems. I work with adolescents, adults, and couples, and I specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, issues around individuation, existential questioning, embodiment difficulties, and relationship challenges.

I am a licensed therapist with 14 years of experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and trauma. Many of the people I work with find themselves stuck in cycles of procrastination and harsh self-criticism, which can make it difficult to feel present or engaged in their daily lives. My approach combines traditional talk therapy with somatic, mind-body techniques that support nervous system regulation and help calm stress stored in the body. Together, we work to create more space for clarity, self-compassion, and meaningful change.
I am a registered dietitian dedicated to helping neurodivergent adults fuel themselves and their lives. From my lived experience and time working with 1000s of clients at my position at a local teaching hospital, I understand how hard it can be to feed ourselves. I am passionate about debunking nutrition myths, sharing nutrition facts and creating meal prep strategies to help balance mood and energy. It is my joy to do this all through the lens of intuitive eating, Health at Every Size (HEASĀ®) and gentle nutrition. Even if you do not identify as neurodivergent, anyone is welcome!

Welcome! Iām Lauren Cohen, a licensed independent clinical social worker, and Iām so glad youāre here. A bit about me: Iām a Los Angeles native, and a White, Jewish, cis-gendered (she/her) clinician. I am open about these parts of my identity when we work together - and strive to create a space where all of your parts always feel seen and welcome. Iāve always been fascinated by emotions, relationships, and behavior. My love for learning about different people has taken me to over 25 countries. Traveling has given me a profound understanding of human nature, āsamenessā, and also the vast complexities of different cultures. Outside of sessions, I love creating pottery, being in nature, a good sunset swim, & trying new foods with my family and friends. I approach therapy with a dynamic and evolving perspective, tailoring my methods to meet your unique needs. Psychodynamic theory, Attachment theory, and Mindfulness are foundational to my work, and I am also a Level 1 trained therapist in Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS allows us to explore the different āpartsā of your identity, by uncovering truths and developing your own inner healer. I believe healing comes from building a trusting relationship between mind and body, and creating space for your authentic self to emerge. Meditation and breathwork are often utilized to connect you with your mindās eye and core self. My approach to therapy is warm, kind and playful. I have a deeply non-judgmental attitude, providing a space where you can feel safe and supported as we navigate the complexities of your inner world. I also embrace the deeper, darker aspects of self, recognizing that these parts of your experience can hold wisdom and strength - the shadow is always welcome in our work.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating a variety of mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism and OCD. Supporting young people and their families has always been at the heart of my work. I am committed to providing compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive mental health care. Having grown up and trained in Boston, I am proud to serve the community that is my home. Creating a space where you feel heard, safe, and supported is critical to my practice. Whether we are navigating a new diagnosis, exploring medication options or working to better understand your thoughts and behavioral patterns, we will work together to find an approach that works for you. Education is the backbone of my practice so you feel informed and empowered to make the best decision for you or your child. My goal is to provide you with tools to build insight and coping skills to better support yourself in your mental health journey.
You have been trying to get to a place where you can be authentically you. But currently, so much is defined or dominated by relational trauma or systemic oppression. We can work together to heal from trauma from the past, and work together on the current traumas that impact your life. As a therapist, I work to be affirming of who you are - so that you have the space to be you and bring that best version of you out into the world.
Having worked in a variety of mental health settings and most particularly through my work at academic Boston-area hospitals, I have developed both an affection for and an expertise in working with people in their 20's. It is such a time of change, choices, transitions and adjustments. Finding a way to ground ourselves and connect with our own instincts can make all the difference in the journey through adult life.

I practice cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and my approach is warm, yet direct, with the intent to guide you to identify and meet your goals. You don't have to do this alone. I have weekday and evening session availability via telehealth. I am happy to answer any questions that you have about the therapy process to help you feel more comfortable. I am a white, non-binary, neurodivergent individual working and living in the unceded territory of the Pennacook communities with the Pawtucket Village and Wamesit Village. I am always in the journey of decolonizing my therapy practice and finding ways to re-imagine my field and encourage colleagues to do so as well. During sessions I integrate beliefs in trauma informed care, anti-oppression work, neurodiversity, disability justice, health at every size (HAES), and gender affirming care among other areas of liberation work. My specialty is in supporting trans and nonbinary youth, young adults, and their families in both identity related areas as well as other mental health concerns. I also have extensive experience working with youth and young adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and autism.
Iām so glad you're here! If masking, people-pleasing, code-switching, avoiding, isolating (and everything in between) has been your way of managing your anxiety, here is a space where we create a calm place for you to be your authentic self. Come with quirks, emotions, humor, cursing, and even your crafts, this is your space. All that in stride, I understand that the path to finding your true self can be complex and sometimes daunting. But rest assured, you donāt have to do it alone. Here, therapy is not just about addressing issues; it's about celebrating who you are and who youāre becoming. So bring every part of you into the room. Iām here to listen, understand, and help you thrive.
College can be an overwhelming time, and together we can address issues that are affecting your academics, social life, and personal experiences. My clients are often navigating anxiety, panic attacks, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or chronic illness. I have extensive experience with LGBTQ+ folks. Some issues include persistent anxiety or panic attacks, depression affecting motivation, and mood instability. I provide a safe, affirming space, coping strategies for stress, and support in embracing identity. We can address goals of greater emotional stability, self-acceptance, building resilience and connections, and balancing academic work with personal challenges.
Welcome! I know that choosing a therapist is a difficult task and that embarking in a therapeutic treatment requires a lot of courage. I am certain that the warm, and nonjudgmental environment that I provide will help you feel safe and supported as you explore the problems that interfere with the way that you want to live your life. I am pleased that you have enough self-awareness to realize that you need to act now. I am a licensed psychologist with broad therapeutic interests: issues related to parenting, migration, intimate relationship, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, and low self-esteem. I have over twenty years of experience helping clients better understand themselves, reduce their suffering, and increase their capacity for joyful living. Successful therapy depends on a good fit between therapist and client; it's precisely the quality of the collaborative therapeutic relationship that is central to healing. Your concerns don't have to be severe to justify making the first call.
