Life can be challenging at times. Sometimes the guidance of a professional can provide you the clarity needed to help you move forward. I work with individuals seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance use, codependency and life transitions as well as with families wanting to improve their relationship with one another. I have 25 years of experience working with families, specifically those dealing with estrangement, substance use and mood disorders. My theoretical framework is grounded in structural and internal family systems, lifespan development and attachment theory; interventions I use are framed within the context of feminist and gender theory. As your therapist I will strive to provide a supportive, accepting and collaborative space that helps you achieve lasting change and resilience. Reach out to me for a free consultation to see how I can help.

I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy and value my client's life experiences and the knowledge that they bring into the therapeutic relationship. I tend to work interpersonally and view the therapeutic relationship as a tool for gaining insight into personal struggles, as well as a venue to practice new behaviors and boundaries. I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences and while I am trained as a generalist, I have particular interests in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, body image, gender identity and socialization. My experiences in a variety of settings including college counseling centers, Veteran's Affairs, inpatient addiction rehabilitation center, consultation center, domestic violence advocacy organization, and adolescent homeless shelter are a particular strength of my clinical work and allow me to uniquely provide real-world application for my clients concerns.

Everyone faces seasons in their lives where it feels like they’re on a spinning wheel. Round and round and round you go, too afraid to get off or try something different, too stuck in old patterns or routines, lacking the skills or support to take the leap.  You’re here because you want something different, something more, something better for your life.  I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Life Coach with almost twenty years of experience in the field. Since starting my own private practice in 2020, I have primarily worked with women in adolescence through adulthood, focusing on life transitions, relationships, divorce, parenting, trauma, grief, and self-worth. As an integrative systems therapist, I understand that the systems we’re a part of, including our families of origin, communities and social networks, country, the world, and the planet, have profound impacts on us individually. I utilize a blend of modalities that meet each client where they’re at, including mindfulness, visualization, and writing. I have been EMDR-trained since 2021.  I’m currently accepting clients on a limited basis beginning in September 2026. Email me to secure your spot. I look forward to meeting you.

Sometimes we lose our sense of self and feel overwhelmed by our emotions, experiences, and life's responsibilities. Other times, we lack a space where we can show up as we are, and have someone join us in our experience. I value creating a collaborative space for exploration, healing, and understanding. Together, we can create a space where you are heard and where you can explore what brings meaning to your life. I work with clients who may be navigating life transitions, are feeling distressed, or experiencing interpersonal issues. Early on, we will develop a trusting relationship, exploring your current concerns and collaborating to find ways to address them. I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered, and Strengths- based techniques. After exploring what's brining you into therapy, we will work on increasing your tolerance of certain emotions while living a life that brings you fulfillment and meaning.

Life can be difficult. With the right tools and some effort, it does not have to be. My hope is to help you with your goals. Whether that is to feel better (less depressed, anxious or angry), improve your relationships (with a spouse, parent, child, etc.), change your behaviors (substance use, self harm, avoidance), or anything else that is important to you, I'd love the opportunity to work with you. I enjoy working with a many different presenting problems. My passions include working with teens/adults, men's issues (especially navigating work and/or family life), post-partum Dads, athletes and substance use/co-occurring disorders. Therapy isn't one-size fits all. I utilize many forms of therapy depending on what my client may need. These typically include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing. Each client is unique and I find it important to adjust treatment strategies to the needs of each client. Should you allow me to be a help to you, you can always expect empathy and compassion. But you can also expect me to be direct, push you to challenge your perspective, and inject a bit of humor into the therapy process. I welcome you to reach out if you think I could be the right fit for you.

When therapy becomes a reality A situation arises in one’s life that alters our once innocent perspective of our surroundings. Answers are searched through the experience of others when ultimately the truth lies within our own experiences. These two phrases tend to resonate with individuals who experience trauma, anxiety, depression, overall dysregulation within their environment. Each person’s experience is unique as well as the journey to repairing the damage left behind. I believe therapy can be used to create a personable, yet the potentially uncomfortable path to reality and self-truth. Without exposing or facing the wounds, the trauma response can remain to stagnate or continue to spread internally and externally. In which developing the vicious cycle of chaos within, generationally, and/or onto others our surroundings. Therefore, strengthening self-acceptance in exploring our wounds can create wisdom for breaking the cycle(s). Professional Experience Seeking a therapist that fits you can be daunting. I feel in order to fully engage in the therapeutic process, it is important to know who your story is being shared with. I have experience with various populations and my style tends to be direct in nature. The individuals I have had the pleasure of meeting tend to struggle(d) in the following areas: Relationships (family, romantic, & interpersonal) Substance abuse (self or family/loved one) Life transitions (grief, growth, roles, separations, etc.) Intellectual-Developmental disabilities & Autism Caregiver fatigue “Never give up on someone with mental illness. I provide telehealth counseling services to clients in Michigan. Sometimes life throws challenges at us that we need to process with the help of someone who can listen and allow us to explore our experiences and emotions. Together we can identify goals, coping strategies, and techniques that can lead to feeling healthier and happier. My experience has been primarily with teenagers and young adults, but I am happy to work all adults. The next step starts with: 1) Looking at the whole person - habits, health - sleep, diet, movement. 2) Identifying your strengths and how they can be used to help you in challenging situations. 3) Identifying how you are you currently dealing with stress, pain, hurt, or trauma. We will talk about strategies to improve your well-being. I look forward to the opportunity to partner with you on your journey to discovering a stronger, happier, and healthier you. This is the first step on your journey.

You feel exhausted from running in circles. You try so hard, but you still can’t shake the feeling. You over-schedule, overcommit, and always keep yourself busy. You listen to podcasts about stress and time management, but still have a hard time relaxing and having fun because your brain won’t shut off. You haven’t had a good night’s sleep in ages, and you never feel rested. Maybe you … • Can’t stop thinking about an incident or situation—to the point where it’s hard to focus when usually you are on top of everything. • Watch yourself overreact to people and situations, but you don’t know how to stop it. • Zone out and feel like you’re watching yourself from afar at a meeting or social event. Or maybe you lose hours at a time binging Netflix or getting lost in games or social media on your phone. • Spend a lot of time worry about other people’s behavior, motivation, and what they might be thinking about you. Say “yes” even when you don’t want to. • Know that you have so much more potential, but end up feeling exhausted and can’t shake the feeling that no matter what you do, you’ll never be “good enough. I’m here to support you with empathy, compassion and expertise. I specialize in supporting busy professionals, healthcare workers, and helpers of all kinds who have it within them to work through their pain and heal their wounds but need some help getting there. I’m a certified EMDR therapist who has over 20 years experience as a clinical social worker. My advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (a somatic approach), and Internal Family Systems (“parts work”) means I have the expertise you need and deserve. I also have a background in improv and theater, so we may even find ourselves having fun along the way! Therapy doesn’t need to be all tears. My clients describe me as warm, collaborative, supportive, creative and nonjudgmental. Through my work with clients, I have learned that “words are not enough” and that therapy modalities that address suffering from a “bottom up” perspective have long-lasting, permanent results. Therapy approaches that focus primarily on coping skills and talk therapy to gain insight can sometimes leave you feeling frustrated, because no matter how much you try to talk and think your way into feeling better, it can only take you so far. You may intellectually understand your issues, but you still feel like there’s a disconnect between head and heart. My clients are looking for deeper change. My approach integrates EMDR with attachment-focused therapies such as IFS (Internal Family Systems) and body-focused psychotherapies such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, along with talk therapy, so that every step we take together is tailored to healing that includes both mind and body and helps you get to the root of issues so can start to feel like yourself again. My goal is to empower you in every step of the process. Together, we’ll identify the difficult experiences that are causing you to feel stuck and we’ll create a roadmap so that you’ll know how to achieve your goals. We’ll focus on your strengths and build on your resources with practical mind-body tools that really work for you. We’ll work on transforming old wounds that are causing distress so they no longer keep you stuck in old patterns and unhelpful beliefs. By the end of our time together, you will know that even when life gets tough—which it inevitably will!—you will meet future challenges with self-compassion and resilience.
