Hello, I'm Jarid, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to guiding individuals through their unique journeys toward healing and growth. My desire to be a counselor stemmed from a longing to make a meaningful impact on people's lives. After years in the corporate world, I craved a career with purpose, one that allowed me to foster deep connections and witness transformation. What I love most about counseling is the opportunity to form authentic relationships with my clients. I'm honored to share in their growth and witness their lives transform into something fulfilling. My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and its potential for healing. I also value challenging my clients in a way that pushes them forward. I am not the kind of therapist to let you come in weekly and just maintain the status quo of your life. Together we will constantly push toward the change that you are looking for and the change that you need. The most rewarding moments in my practice are when clients experience empathy for themselves and their stories. This self-acceptance allows them to envision a clear path forward and embrace personal growth. My clients often tell me that their therapy experiences with me are unlike any other. They appreciate my deep engagement, presence, and understanding. I prioritize a collaborative, equal, and beneficial relationship with each client. My own mental and emotional well-being is a priority. I have my own therapist and apply my knowledge and experience to my life. I find joy in mindfulness practices, humor, and spending time with loved ones. Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, playing video games, golfing, going to the movies, music, and spending time on the water. I created my own practice to have the freedom to meet my clients where they are and provide them with the best care possible. I value the autonomy to tailor my approach without external constraints. Thank you for considering me as your guide on your path to well-being. I look forward to supporting you through your journey.

We are living in tender times. Many of us are undergoing internal shifts and personal transformations while the world at large is also shifting beneath our feet. Working together, we can find ways to cope creatively with life's many challenges. My work is inspired by each individual client’s unique potential for wholeness. I enjoy working with individuals on issues of gender, sexuality, relationships, intimacy, spirituality, wellness and authenticity. I am LGBTQIA+ friendly & aware. My other areas of competence include anxiety, depression, grief, and adjustment to life transitions. My counseling practice is informed by Hakomi and its principles of mindfulness, unity, body-mind connection, non-violence and organicity. Learning to accept what is and be in the present moment is more important than ever. My counseling approach includes person-centered, humanistic, strengths-based, trauma informed, depth psychology and cognitive behavioral. One of life’s great challenges is that we all encounter suffering and struggles along the way. And yet, I strongly believe that it is not only possible, but that it is every person’s birthright, to live a life full of meaning, joy and fulfillment. I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your personal journey of unfolding and healing.

Let’s be honest. Life gets real sometimes. Things happen and we can wind up feeling stuck, lost, or hopeless. To top it all off, we often feel pressured to put on a brave face and weather the storm. It’s for these reasons that I founded Sunshine Counseling. You deserve a space where you can be yourself, where you don’t have to hide, and where you can safely process life. Truth be told, I named my therapy practice after a mug my friend gave me which sarcastically declares, "I am a ray of freaking sunshine!" This cheeky little mug actually encapsulates my world view. It is not all sunshine and rainbows. And that's ok. I tailor my approach to individuals, their needs, and their state of change. I believe that therapy is all about relationships and I want to aid others in having a healthy relationship with themselves that can then translate to having one with the people they choose to hold in their lives. Reaching out for support is a big step. Snaps for making it to this point. When you are ready, let's connect to schedule a free consultation. If I’m not the right fit for you or do not have the particular training or expertise to assist you, I will provide you with alternative referrals.

I have spent most of my life surrounded by people who are uncomfortable with or unwilling to discuss their bodies and sexual desires. This has always felt like an injustice as having a someone that you feel comfortable discussing sex with can be a very healing and enlightening experience. Our bodies and sex are inherent parts of self and I believe that your relationship to and understanding of your body is one of your core forms of knowing yourself. To understand your desires, or lack thereof, is to better understand yourself as a whole. I enjoy working with people who wish to understand themselves better on a sexual level. If you are someone who is working to unpack purity culture, working to reclaim your body after a sexual assault, working through discrepancies in sex drives with your partner, working to have an organism, or you are exploring kink I would love to be the person who provides you with a comfortable and safe space to do so. Another one of my passions is exploring the relationship between ADHD, Autism, and neurodivergence with your ability to experience both sexual desire and sexual gratification as it is largely under-discussed and deeply important. I would love to work with you as you figure out what that relationship looks like for you, and how desire and sex function with your specific wants and needs. The more you learn about and understand your relationship with desire, the more comfortable and confident you can feel in and out of the bedroom. Gaining the confidence to own what you want, or even understand why you want it, will help you gain a sense of freedom. You deserve to feel confident in your relationship with your bodily autonomy. I cannot wait to work with you as you empower yourself in your body, in your sex life, and your life as a whole.

I consider it a privilege to help people process their experiences, empathize with them in their pain, work to improve their relationships and help them make positive changes. I am a generalist in training (worked with couples, adolescents and adults), but specialized in Emotion Focused Couples therapy, EMDR (evidenced based trauma therapy), Christian psychology and cross cultural workers (missionaries, pastors, and missionary kids/adults). I personally love more depth oriented, emotion-focused work, but I will help you decide what approach works best for you! Having grown up overseas, I am part of the Third Culture Kid tribe. For the past four years, I have worked with people in cross-cultural ministry. I am trained in Emotion-focused therapy which has been seen as the most effective approach for TCK's. I am also trained in EMDR for trauma and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy for relationships in distress. If you are looking to gain insight, sleep better, trust yourself more and have better success in ALL your relationships including the relationship with God and yourself, now is the time to start! Please email or call me to talk about what it looks like to start.

You’re not alone if you’re realizing you might have OCD. Many people spend years stuck in their heads, battling intrusive thoughts, compulsions, hyper-specific fears, or chronic anxiety that pulls them away from the lives they want to live. I specialize in treating OCD and related disorders including perinatal and postpartum OCD, health anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, specific phobias, emetophobia, and coping with anxiety-induced hypertension. My practical, evidence-based approach provides tools to manage symptoms, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build lasting resilience so you can feel more in control in your daily life. OCD commits many crimes against its sufferers, but one of the cruelest is the hope it steals. You can feel better than you do now. This doesn’t have to be your life. I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients face fears, reduce compulsions, and reclaim a meaningful life. All sessions are online. Visit my website to schedule a consult. We will work together to pinpoint actionable steps and build coping skills, so you can begin to see positive changes right away. My online therapy services through telehealth are ideal for busy individuals and those who prefer the comfort of home for their counseling sessions. Northend Counseling LLC offers free consultations to determine if Jody Begley is a match to support you on your journey to greater well-being: jodybegley@northendcounselingllc.com.
