Therapists for college students near University of Pittsburgh
I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and hold credentials as both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have been in the field a little over 10 years and have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns; including depression, anxiety, identity formation, crisis management, addiction, and life transitions. My counseling style is very person-first and engaging. I believe in incorporating different therapeutic techniques in order to meet you exactly where you are during each interaction. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused techniques. My goal is to have you feel comfortable and help guide you to develop healthy skills that encourage empowerment and self-discovery. Outside of my career, I am an animal lover that enjoys traveling. I enjoy being physically active and believe the best gifts are those you can experience! I am a fan of all Italian food and find comfort relaxing while watching a good movie or reading a thrilling book. I strongly advocate the concept of self-care and overall life balance. I understand how vulnerable and overwhelming it can feel to seek counseling and I appreciate the courage my clients display by doing so. I hope to support and provide encouragement as we begin this process together. I believe that every individual has the ability to overcome struggles and learn how to highlight their strengths that they may not even be aware they have! I look forward to working with you! "You're Braver than you believe. Stronger than you seem. and Smarter than you think." - A.A. Milne
Let’s face it—finding a therapist can feel a little awkward. You’re trying to choose someone you’ve never met and wondering if you’ll actually feel comfortable opening up to them. I get that. What matters most to me is that you feel like you can show up as yourself, without worrying about being judged or saying the “wrong” thing. I’ve worked with all kinds of people, and I can promise you, you don’t need to have everything together before coming to therapy. You can bring the messy stuff, the uncomfortable stuff, and the things you’re embarrassed to say out loud. I also know from my own experience with chronic health issues that sometimes life takes turns we never expected. It can be exhausting, scary, frustrating, and lonely. That experience, along with my work as a therapist, has shaped the way I connect with people going through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, health challenges, and major life transitions. Therapy with me isn’t about having all the answers or saying all the right things. We’ll start wherever you are, figure things out together, and probably even laugh sometimes along the way. My hope is that you’ll feel heard, understood, encouraged, and a little less alone in whatever you’re facing. I'm here for you.

It was at PSU that I decided that I wanted to help others. After graduating from the Human Development and Family Studies program, I decided to further my education by attending graduate school at Loyola University Maryland. There I obtained my Master's in Counseling Psychology and completed additional coursework so that I could eventually become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Over the last 16 years I have had the pleasure of working with children, teens, young adults and adults. I have experience working with college students and understand the unique pressures that PhD candidates face. I strive to provide an environment that clients feel safe, supported, and validated. In turn, this will lead to a positive therapeutic relationship in which self-reflection and processing can take place. My goal is for you to recognize your strengths uncover your hidden potential. I hope to help you with whatever obstacles or challenges you may be facing. Please view my website for more information on my therapeutic approach, a look at my office, and insurances I accept.

I work best with students who may seem like they have it together but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or exhausted underneath. You might overthink everything, put pressure on yourself, try to keep everyone happy, or feel responsible for holding it all together. Many of my clients are navigating trauma, complicated family relationships, grief, identity, or major life changes. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent students, creatives, caregivers, and people who are used to being the strong one. You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or where to begin. We can figure that out together.
I support students who are used to holding it together for everyone else—but privately struggle with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, trauma, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others. You might overthink everything, avoid asking for help, or feel exhausted by the pressure to perform academically and socially. My practice offers a warm, steady space to slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and build real coping skills—not just quick fixes. I provide trauma-informed therapy using EMDR, partswork, art therapy, and somatic/body-based approaches that help you understand how stress and past experiences affect your body, emotions, and relationships so you can feel more grounded and confident. I accept funding through VCAP (Victim Compensation Assistance Program) which helps cover the cost of 6-12 months of therapy for sexual assault survivors in Pennsylvania (no need to have ever reported assault in order to be eligible to apply). I am a queer, non-binary therapist with a specialized background in working with survivors of abuse and trauma as well as with LGBTQIA+ identified people. I am an Indian American and a child immigrant to the US so I can both personally and professionally understand experiences of students who are first generation Americans to international students. I also have an affinity for supporting and working with student activists. My approach is to create a nurturing, therapeutic environment that honors each person’s identity and experience while we do the hard yet compassionate work of therapy. Please reach out so I can confirm that I am within network with your insurance.
Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by classes, work, or family expectations. Anxious about the future. Stuck in relationship patterns that keep hurting, or questioning who you are and where you’re headed. Perhaps you’re navigating trauma, a painful breakup or betrayal, loneliness, identity questions, academic pressure, or a major life transition. You might look like you’re holding it together on the outside, while inside you feel disconnected, exhausted, or never quite enough. You may long to feel more grounded, confident, connected, and understood. If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. My therapy practice offers a calm, compassionate space where college students and young adults can slow down, feel seen, and make sense of what they’re going through. I work with individuals and couples who are hurting and ready for change, whether that means healing from past experiences, strengthening relationships, or reconnecting with themselves. Together, we’ll explore the parts of your story that feel tender or confusing and work toward greater clarity, self-compassion, and meaningful growth.
