I work with college students and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship and attachment concerns, trauma, grief and loss, burnout, self-esteem challenges, and major life changes. Whether you're working through past experiences or trying to better understand yourself in the present, I strive to create a supportive, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. As a strength-based therapist, I believe every person has the capacity for growth, resilience, and healing. Establishing a strong working relationship is essential to positive therapeutic outcomes. I firmly believe that therapy works best when you match well on a personal level. Adjusting to college is hard. There's a lot of pressure to do well academically, socially, personally...and it can be helpful to have an unbiased person to vent to and talk about what you're struggling with. I specialize in treating individuals struggling with primary and secondary trauma. I use a multifaceted approach to therapy to meet my clients where they are and to suit their individual needs, whether trauma is a main focus or not.

Cassie operates out of a trauma informed lens. Additionally, she utilizes a person-centered, strengths-based, and cognitive behavioral theoretical orientation. Cassie is a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) clinician and practices DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) informed treatment. Cassie believes there is not one technique that works for all individuals; therefore, the core of her professional work begins with creating a healthy therapeutic alliance. She believes when individuals can understand and respect each other, a foundation exists where sharing, processing, and healing can take place. Cassie offers telehealth sessions to individuals in Michigan and in-person sessions in Lansing (about 5 minutes from MSU's campus).

I consider it a privilege to help people process their experiences, empathize with them in their pain, work to improve their relationships and help them make positive changes. I am a generalist in training (worked with couples, adolescents and adults), but specialized in Emotion Focused Couples therapy, EMDR (evidenced based trauma therapy), Christian psychology and cross cultural workers (missionaries, pastors, and missionary kids/adults). I personally love more depth oriented, emotion-focused work, but I will help you decide what approach works best for you! Having grown up overseas, I am part of the Third Culture Kid tribe. For the past four years, I have worked with people in cross-cultural ministry. I am trained in Emotion-focused therapy which has been seen as the most effective approach for TCK's. I am also trained in EMDR for trauma and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy for relationships in distress. If you are looking to gain insight, sleep better, trust yourself more and have better success in ALL your relationships including the relationship with God and yourself, now is the time to start! Please email or call me to talk about what it looks like to start.
