Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
I don’t believe that any one modality of therapy works best for everybody. I believe in getting to know my client, understanding what works and does not work for them, and keeping an open line of communication with what is and isn’t helping. That is how I believe the best treatment and treatment planning occurs: when both parties are able to honestly express their thoughts on the treatment process and are willing to explore different avenues in order to bring about the most healing. I believe in person-centered care. I believe in helping a client feel comfortable, welcome, and safe when they are in therapy, and I strive to be a positive support for them. Without my personal life’s experiences with pain, anxiety, depression, and a multitude of other struggles, I know I would not be the therapist that I am today. I believe that I have a large amount of empathy for individuals who go through these types of struggles, and I feel that I can help them not only from a professional level, but also from a human-being to another human-being level. The human experience is not always an easy one to go through. It is my pleasure and privilege to help individuals walk through their struggles and to let them know that they are not alone. By providing them with support, empathy, techniques for success and a safe place to come each week, I believe that I can be a part of the healing in a clients life and that is one of the greatest blessings that I could ever think of participating in.

I consider it a privilege to help people process their experiences, empathize with them in their pain, work to improve their relationships and help them make positive changes. I am a generalist in training (worked with couples, adolescents and adults), but specialized in Emotion Focused Couples therapy, EMDR (evidenced based trauma therapy), Christian psychology and cross cultural workers (missionaries, pastors, and missionary kids/adults). I personally love more depth oriented, emotion-focused work, but I will help you decide what approach works best for you! Having grown up overseas, I am part of the Third Culture Kid tribe. For the past four years, I have worked with people in cross-cultural ministry. I am trained in Emotion-focused therapy which has been seen as the most effective approach for TCK's. I am also trained in EMDR for trauma and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy for relationships in distress. If you are looking to gain insight, sleep better, trust yourself more and have better success in ALL your relationships including the relationship with God and yourself, now is the time to start! Please email or call me to talk about what it looks like to start.

My heart for hurting people was birthed out of my own journey of experiencing healing from trauma, abuse and loss. I am convinced that all of us are created with a potential for incredible resilience and with the right kind of compassionate support, we can bounce back from the worst of circumstances. I grew up in India and after moving to the US in 2001, received a M.A. in Professional Counseling from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Over the last 2 decades, I have enjoyed working with children and adults in various settings such as schools, women's shelters, colleges, churches and private practice. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, cooking and enjoying conversations over a good meal with friends and family.

I enjoy helping clients navigate the many challenges and transitions of life, and strive to be part of the system that supports their wellness and joy. My hope is that through the counseling process you can better tackle the challenges that come your way, learn new ways of coping, and take steps towards meeting your unique goals. My areas of focus include anxiety, stress, compulsive over-eating, body image, perinatal issues, and life transition concerns.

People often struggle with feelings of sadness, anxiety, and emotional responses they do not understand. I find great fulfillment in helping individuals to gain a better understanding of who they are at their core as well as how past events and circumstances have affected them in order to move towards genuine healing. One of the most important aspects of therapy that I am committed to is creating a safe space for all individuals. Many of the students I work with feel overwhelmed, stuck in their thoughts, or unsure how to manage everything on their plate. You might be dealing with anxiety, burnout, trouble focusing, or feeling mentally exhausted from trying to keep up with school, work, and life. I work especially well with students who are navigating ADHD, autism/neuro-spicy, executive functioning challenges, anxiety, depression, or big life transitions. Some of my clients struggle with procrastination, staying organized, or following through on tasks, even when they really want to do well. Others feel constantly stressed, overthink everything, or have a hard time turning their mind off. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, or just not like yourself lately, that’s enough. My approach is practical and supportive. We focus on real-life strategies that help you manage stress, improve focus, and feel more in control of your day-to-day life. At the same time, we’ll explore what’s underneath the stress so you can start to feel more grounded and confident. If you’re looking for a therapist who is easy to talk to and focused on helping you actually feel better, not just talk about problems, you’re in the right place.
